A-B-Cs of spreading the 'truth' about 9-11

The 9-11 truth movement works overtime to prove the obvious, according to Dr. Joe Hawkins.

The Winnipeg chiropractor offered that kernel of insight yesterday during his seminar on Canadian activism as part of the Vancouver 9-11 Truth Conference.

Hawkins said appealing to someone's logic through concrete evidence is an established way to sway people to an alternate 9-11 theory.

This avoids "endless politics" in deciphering images or recordings that are open to interpretation.

"You don't need to have a PhD in pathology to prove a bullet wound is the cause of death," he said.

At home, Hawkins puts a little twist on keeping things simple by handing out DVDs of 9-11 documentaries. He advised his audience to do the same, saying the strategy avoids information overload for someone beginning to explore alternate theories.

He added screening a documentary for a community group is more effective because the act is a confidence-building experience.

(CBS) NEW YORK Lawmakers in Washington are holding a health hearing Monday about environmental issues at Ground Zero.

Former Environmental Protection Agency chief Christine Todd Whitman is expected to testify about what she knew about air quality in lower Manhattan in the weeks after the terrorist attacks.

Dozens of first responders boarded buses in Manhattan early Monday morning for the long trip to Washington, D.C., to make their voices heard.

They are demanding prison time for Whitman, and are scheduled to join a protest march at 1 p.m. Monday.

Nearly six years after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Christie Whitman must finally answer some very tough questions at a congressional hearing about 9/11 health issues and air quality.

A newly released Purdue University animation showing how fire caused the collapse of the World Trade Center towers on 9/11 claims to be independent but in reality has been federally funded and was conducted by individuals with direct links to the Pentagon and the White House.

Earlier this week we covered the news that the new study roughly correlates with the findings of the 2005 National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) report and supports the official line that the airplanes stripped away crucial fireproofing material and that the weakened towers collapsed under their own weight.

Gingrich ‘rewrites 9/11 history.’

A new advertisement by Newt Gingrich linking the threat of terrorism to the immigration debate “rewrites 9/11 history.”

“Mohamed Atta, and several other 9/11 hijackers were in the United States illegally,” Gingrich begins the ad. Photos of Atta and other 9/11 hijackers appear and the word “Illegally” — printed in bold, red letters — flashes over the screen.

“Today, more than five years since that tragic day, our borders remain open to gangs, drug dealers and terrorists,” says Gingrich in the ad.

However, according to the 9/11 Commission Report, Gingrich’s statement is incorrect.

“Atta was in the country legally on 9/11,” said Janice Kephart, a former counsel to the 9/11 Commission and co-author of the commission’s report on 9/11 and Terrorist Travel.

All of the 19 men who hijacked planes on September 11th, including Atta, entered the United States on a tourist or student visa, issued by the former U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service, according to the 9/11 Commission.

$55 million for 9/11 workers

A key Senate Committee has included an additional $55 million in federal funding for the mounting health needs of workers exposed to toxic substances during rescue and clean up following the Sep. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center.

The money would be used for treatment, screening, and monitoring administered by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. The bill would require the Department of Health and Human Services to expand the program beyond rescue workers to provide services to area residents, office and commercial workers, volunteers, students, and other individuals who were exposed to environmental hazards.

Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton and Charles Schumer said the legislation would provide comprehensive medical services for the thousands of ill and injured as well as the development of long-term, comprehensive screening and monitoring.

It’s unusual for an academic computer-science department to brag about its prowess on YouTube, but that’s exactly what happened this month after Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., released a study into the causes of the collapse of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

A two-year Purdue University study released this month supports a federal agency’s conclusion that the impact of the hijacked jetliners stripped away fireproofing material, causing the weakened towers to eventually collapse under their own weight.

The video is a counterpoint to the conspiracy theories that still surround the collapse of the World Trade Center (and such outspoken figures as Rosie O’Donnell appear to be sympathetic to these arguments).•

9/11 workers from Moore film fear political attack

NEW YORK -- Three ground zero workers who accompanied filmmaker Michael Moore on a trip to Cuba for medical treatment featured in his new movie "Sicko" charged Friday they were targeted by the U.S. government because of their participation.

"It's ridiculous after what we did for the city and the country on that day, that they won't allow us to go 90 miles offshore to get treated," said Reggie Cervantes, a 46-year-old EMT who worked with only a thin dust mask after the World Trade Center collapsed on Sept. 11, 2001.

The Brooklyn-based worker, among the first responders performing triage on the street below the burning towers, now suffers from severe pulmonary diseases, as well as kidney and liver problems.

Various researchers and activists inspired by the work of Dr. Karl Ziegler Morgan claim that 9/11 sicknesses are related to environmental radiation contamination.

The International 9/11 Citizen's War Crimes Tribunal documents that Leuren Moret reported for example, "elevated radiation readings downwind from the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. on September 11, 2001. Two days after 9/11, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) confirmed that the Pentagon crash site rubble was radioactive and that the probable contaminant was Depleted Uranium (DU)."

Clinton condemns response to 9/11 dust

WASHINGTON - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton yesterday chastised the Bush administration for failing to warn New Yorkers about toxic dust after the terror attack on the World Trade Center, but withheld criticism of the city's response under then-mayor and fellow presidential candidate Rudolph Giuliani.

"Nearly six years after 9/11, we still don't have the whole truth about the toxic cloud of poison that filled the air after the towers fell," Clinton said yesterday at a hearing of the Senate subcommittee on Superfund and Environmental Health, which she chairs.

"We don't have an explanation for the misrepresentations that put countless people at risk of exposure to chemicals that we know are causing illness and death."

The chief of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, James Connaughton, defended the administration's handling of the toxic cleanup, saying its response was "conveyed real-time in fast-moving circumstances."

The film, part of this year's Staten Island Film Festival, was screened last night at the College of Staten Island's Center for the Arts

Set on Long Island and various parts of New York City, "Vito After" follows NYPD Detective Vito Friscia from April 2002 through July 2004 as he struggles with sinus infections and adjusts to life after spending months sifting through debris at Ground Zero and the former Fresh Kills landfill.

Director and producer Mrs. Pusateri -- who is Friscia's sister-in-law -- seeks to understand the stoic attitude of rescue workers, while drawing attention to the serious health conditions plaguing them.

White House Official Grilled on Alleged Censorship of Post-9/11 Contamination Risks

Thursday, June 21, 2007 : A new congressional study has revealed the Environmental Protection Agency misled Lower Manhattan residents about levels of indoor air contamination after 9/11. The report was released during a Senate hearing Wednesday on the EPA's response after the collapse of the World Trade Center. James Connaughton, the Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, was questioned about whether the Bush administration manipulated public information about the health dangers following the collapse.

Senators Hillary Clinton and Frank Lautenberg both questioned Connaughton about a 2003 EPA Inspector General report which claimed that he personally edited EPA press releases. Prior to his confirmation as the Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, Connaughton worked as a lobbyist for the mining, chemical, utilities and asbestos industry.

Councillors blank on 9/11 Conference

Not one city councillor questioned by the Straight had heard of the 9/11 Truth Conference ( www.v911truth.org/conference2007.html ), which is scheduled to run from Friday to Sunday (June 22 to 24) at the Maritime Labour Centre .

About 20 speakers from North America and Britain will be there, including author Barrie Zwicker.

However, NPA councillors Suzanne Anton ("They didn't invite me to speak at the opening") and Kim Capri told the Straight they had not heard of the event, and neither had COPE councillor David Cadman nor Vision Vancouver councillors Raymond Louie, George Chow, Heather Deal, and Tim Stevenson.

"We don't have a 9/11 spokesperson in Vision," Deal said by phone. "We haven't really felt a need until now, though I am concerned about security costs relating to 2010."
