Saudis: Foiled plot mirrored 9/11 attack

By ABDULLAH SHIHRI and MAGGIE MICHAEL, Associated Press Writers

Al-Qaida-linked plotters hoped to reproduce the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, planning to send suicide pilots to military bases and attack the oil refineries that drive the economy of Osama bin Laden's homeland, the government said Saturday.

Revealing new details of the purported plot, a government spokesman said some of the 172 attackers trained as pilots in an unidentified "troubled country" nearby, hoping to use the planes to carry out suicide attacks.

The spokesman, Maj. Gen. Mansour al-Turki, would not say where the training took place: "It could be Iraq, Somalia, Pakistan, there are so many troubled regions in the world. I can't specify."

The militants allegedly wanted to use planes "like car bombs ... to use the aircraft as a tool to carry out suicide operations," al-Turki told The Associated Press by phone from this capital city. Targets included Saudi military bases that militants had no other way of reaching but by blowing up an aircraft, he said.

Archivists work to save 9/11 history

It started with a clogged dust mask that fell onto the desk of Jan Ramirez on the afternoon of Sept. 11, 2001. A friend had used the paper mask to breathe while fleeing downtown Manhattan as the air was filled with grit and smoke from the World Trade Center towers.

"That dust mask is going to be an important artifact some day," Ramirez recalled the friend telling her.

Today, the mask has become a museum piece, one small part of the largest records trove ever assembled to document a single event.

Millions of pieces of paper documenting government investigations, BlackBerry messages written by survivors as they fled, children's finger-paintings and family photographs are also part of the archive, preserved in many different places including state offices, museums and on the Internet.

Saving all things Sept. 11 was a mission embraced from the time of the attacks by professional archivists and grassroots collectors.

9/11 Survivor Speaks

Apr 22, 2007 - The last person out of the North Tower on September 11th spoke to Central Illinoisans at the Lakeview Museum in Peoria. William Rodriguez shared with area residents his final moments in the North Tower just before it fell.

Rodriguez is at the tail end of his Midwest speaking tour. He hopes speaking out will change the way the 9/11 investigation is being handled.

"We have basically put out here the problems that we had with the 9/11 Commission, the problems that we had from the National Institute of Safety and Technology and now we are getting them addressed," Rodriguez said.

The Midwest Chapter of Citizens for Truth sponsored this event. From Peoria, Rodriguez plans to take his speaking tour back to New York and then worldwide.

Is the suggestion of an attack in Montreal worse than 9/11 a genuine or fabricated scenario?

Anonymous, Wednesday, April 11, 2007 - 21:37

Are Quebecers being psychologically “prepared? to blame Muslim immigrant groups, for an even worst attack in Montreal than 9/11, in relation to the World Trade Center in the United States?

The Quebec political Establishment often makes public utterances on their professed interests to “stand-up for Quebec?. However, the Quebec Political Establishment has substantively tied itself to the commercially profitable and military expansionist pro-war agenda of Anglo-American based political-military-industrial complex. This is most evident in the backroom support of the elite driven Quebec Political Establishment for the North American Union (NAU) agenda. Ken Hernandez provides the following detailed account of investigative research which he has made concerning matters pertinent. His accompanying conclusions and views do not necessarily reflect the conclusion and views of The Canadian:

Outrage! Ruling Stings 9/11 First Responders
Court Says Whitman Wasn't Wrong To Say Air Quality Safe

Marcia Kramer
Reporting

(CBS) NEW YORK A major ruling could stop some ground zero workers and lower Manhattan residents suffering from 9/11-related illnesses from suing the city.

CBS 2 has learned the reasons why.

There was shock on Friday as city residents were stunned over a federal appeals court ruling that it was OK for the head of the Environmental Protection Agency to have reassured New Yorkers after 9/11 that the air was safe -- even if it was toxic.

"I’m horrified, not only for the residents down there, but also for the workers who got the worst of it," one resident said. "We can't have a government that lies to us."

Added another New Yorker: "It certainly wasn’t OK. People need to be protected."

"That was unethical to do because it disarmed the people and had people believe they were safe from fallout," said another.

The Second U.S. Circuit of Appeals in Manhattan saw it differently:

Court Ruling May Stop 9/11 Air Quality Lawsuits

Looks also like Giuliani has made a complete 180 when it comes to his position on the issue of the toxic WTC dust and how it has affected 9/11 first responders:

Court Ruling May Stop 9/11 Air Quality Lawsuits

(CBS/AP) NEW YORK An appeals court ruling could spell trouble for New Yorkers suing the Environmental Protection Agency and its former chief for saying that sooty Lower Manhattan air was safe to breathe after the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

A three judge panel of the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals declared this week that EPA Administrator Christine Todd Whitman and other agency officials can't be held constitutionally liable for making rosy declarations about air quality in the days following the World Trade Center's destruction.

The opinion, written by the court's chief judge, Dennis Jacobs, said opening EPA workers up to lawsuits for giving out bad information during a crisis could have a catastrophic side effect.

Giuliani: Nation learned from Okla. City

Giuliani obviously has no problem connecting the Virginia Tech shootings with the Oklahoma City Bombing and 9/11. How pathetic.

Giuliani: Nation learned from Okla. City

By TIM TALLEY, Associated Press Writer

Mourners on Thursday marked the 12th anniversary of the bombing that killed 168 people here by reaching out to victims of the Virginia Tech shootings and of violence everywhere.

Presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani told the crowd at the former site of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building that the response to the 1995 attack serves as an example to others recovering from violence.

The people of Oklahoma City "became a model of compassion and strength, both, a model that helped us several years later get through Sept. 11 and a model that will help the people of Virginia Tech get through the terrible agonies that they are going through right now," said Giuliani, who was New York's mayor during the 2001 terrorist attacks.

France Knew Of Hijack Plot Before 9/11

PARIS, April 16, 2007(AP) France's foreign intelligence service learned as early as January 2001 that al Qaeda was preparing a hijacking plot likely to involve a U.S. airplane, former intelligence officials said Monday, confirming a report that also said the CIA received the warning.

Le Monde newspaper said it had obtained 328 pages of classified documents on Osama bin Laden's terror network that were drawn up by the French spy service, the DGSE, between July 2000 and October 2001. The documents included a Jan. 5, 2001, intelligence report warning that al Qaeda was at work on a hijacking plot.

Pierre-Antoine Lorenzi, the former chief of staff for the agency's director at the time, said he remembered the note and that it mentioned only the vague outlines of a hijacking plot — nothing that foreshadowed the scale of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

Dr. Steven E. Jones disputes accusations made in documentary “Heavy Watergate: The War Against Cold Fusion”

This weekend (April 17-18, 2007) I traveled to Austin, TX to attend the Project for a New American Citizen (PNACitizen) sponsored event “Rebuilding America’s Senses: Exposing False-Flag Terrorism to Prevent a New 9/11”. While there, I had the great honor of meeting Dr. Steven Jones for the first time.

In the past few months, there has been widespread criticism of Dr. Steven Jones’ former muon-catalyzed research through the documentary “Heavy Watergate: The War Against Cold Fusion”:

Deniers of 9/11 and of the Holocaust Are Two of a Kind

(IsraelNN.com) It is a given that television networks put profits above pride, but ABC has reached a new low in its sponsorship of Rosie O'Donnell. The daytime talk show host recently joined the world of "truthers" - people who believe that 9/11 was an attack staged by America's own government.

On ABC's popular The View, O'Donnell lent her expert opinion that it is impossible for the World Trade Center's building 7 "to fall the way it fell without explosives being involved." To say otherwise, she added, "is beyond ignorant." (When she isn't offering instruction on the fine points of structural engineering, O'Donnell entertains by hanging upside-down from a rope.)

My second talk with Richard Johnson of the New York Post

This is my second talk with Richard Johnson, Page Six editor of The New York Post. The first is described here:
http://www.911blogger.com/node/7133

Richard Johnson and I most certainly do not see eye to eye when it comes to such topics as the collapse of WTC 7 and the importance of a debate between 9/11 Truthers and Popular Mechanics. Nevertheless, I have enjoyed my only two conversations with him and have found him -- at least over the phone -- to be a rather genial and polite man.

However, on his Page Six column of The New York Post, he taken an aggressive stance towards the 9/11 Truth Movement for reasons that so far appear to be invalid and based on rumor and conjecture.

Scott Ritter at UTPA addresses current 9/11 and terrorism issues

On Thursday, April 5, 2007, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Scott Ritter spoke to a large audience of students, teachers, and members of the public, at the University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) Student Union building.

His presentation covered mostly the unstable situation in Iraq, the impending possibility that the U.S. might soon go to war with Iran and the consequences of the continued erosion of the Constitution of the United States by the misguided and injurious policies of the current administration.

During the Q&A session of his presentation, Scott Ritter addressed a few 9/11 and terrorism issues brought up by members of the audience.

300 true believers get their 9/11 ‘truth’ from BAI host at St. Mark’s

300 true believers get their 9/11 ‘truth’ from BAI host at St. Mark’s

By Mary Reinholz

April Fools’ Day fell this spring on Palm Sunday and it was a solemn occasion at St. Mark’s Church in the Bowery. There, after Sunday services, some 300 apparent true believers packed the sanctuary in the early afternoon and heard politically charged conspiracy theories surrounding the fall of the World Trade Center five-and-a-half years ago.

Ralph Schoenman, the militant left-wing co-host of WBAI radio’s “Taking Aim” program, was the draw for the varied crowd of aging beatniks, East Village couples and singletons and assorted punk anarchists and antiwar activists in black T-shirts. They paid $8 apiece to be told that the tragic events of that day represented an “inside job” and “terror at the top” of the U.S. government.
