It surely is not easy to “keep the flame of protest’ when the media and special interest groups fight us at every juncture. But, as Cindy and I both know all too well, life is precious and we have lost too, too many young lives already.

Cindy and Jon, I cannot be with you, but I am truly there in spirit. May God keep you safe."

Taliban claims they've formed shadow government

The Taliban are claiming they control 70 per cent of rural Afghanistan and have instituted a shadow government with their own police, courts and rule of law.

The boast comes in the days leading up to Barack Obama's inauguration as U.S. president, who is planning on dramatically ratcheting up America's military presence in Afghanistan.

The Taliban's claim is being dismissed by many inside Afghanistan as empty rhetoric, but there is little denying that their presence is expanding.

Khalid Pashtoon, a member of the Afghan Parliament, says there isn't enough NATO and Afghan troops to police the entire country. As well, the justice system is spread thin and some villagers are turning to the harsh - but swift -- justice system of the Taliban.

"Right now the people have completely lost their faith, they mostly solve their legal disputes over Taliban judges," he said.

New efforts to resurrect 9/11 murder mystery

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - It's a whodunit that reads like a John Grisham thriller. It involves the poisoning death of a Shreveport dentist, writing a book critical of the FBI's response to claims of 9/11 hijackers living here a year before the attacks. Now comes renewed efforts to resurrect the case.

Seen from behind the statue of Lady Justice, it was perhaps a fitting metaphor for the very small march outside Shreveport's federal courthouse. Investigative journalist Sander Hicks became the one man who turned out, protesting the 15-months he's waited for the U.S. Justice Department to respond to his request to investigate the murder of Shreveport dentist Dr. David Graham.

Hicks blamed the low turnout at the courthouse Friday morning, January 16th, on scared friends and family. "They have said, 'if this could happen to David Graham, whoever killed him could kill us."

White House consultant who rigged 2004 election dies suspiciously

I don't usually reveal sources, but I think this is incredibly important. Michael Connell died in a plane crash last night. He was a key witness in the Ohio election fraud case that I have been reporting on. More importantly, however, he had information that he was ready to share.

You see, Mike Connell set-up the alternate email and communications system for the White House. He was responsible for creating the system that hosted the infamous GWB43.com accounts that Karl Rove and others used. When asked by Congress to provide these emails, the White House said that they were destroyed. But in reality, what Connell is alleged to have done is move these files to other servers after having allegedly scrubbed the files from all "known" Karl Rove accounts.

BAGHDAD – (PTSD News) – It took his farewell tour of Iraq to find the weapons of mass destruction he always suspected were there, but today, President [sic] Bush personally discovered the dangerous missiles in Iraq. "They were size 10 and they were coming straight at me," said President Bush, speaking of the two shoes thrown at him by Iraqi television journalist Muntadar al-Zaidi. Zaidi tossed his shoes, saying they were a good-bye kiss from the Iraqi people.

"They say that Zaire guy called me a dog," said Bush who ducked just in time, "but everyone else must have dyslexia, because I heard him call me a god."

Showing a sole of a shoe in the Arab world is generally considered to be a sign of disrespect. However, Zaidi, who was wrestled to the ground before being shipped off to Guantanamo, said he threw the shoes at the President because, "Bush has no soul and I thought he could use one."

LM native's movie thriller conjures up a 9-11 conspiracy

BRYN MAWR – Growing up in Merion, Dave Herman says he sometimes thought about making films.Now, the 1986 Lower Merion High School grad is about to bring his first feature film back to the hometown crowd as his Able Danger debuts in Bryn Mawr and Wayne over the next couple of weeks.

"I'm looking forward to it," Herman says of returning to the Main Line for his film's release.

The movie's title comes from a real government data-mining program called Able Danger that began in the late 1990s. The program reportedly was designed to track the finances of the al-Qaeda terrorist organization. However, a large amount of the data was destroyed in the months leading up to the 9-11 attacks.

What convenient timing . . . but a later session requested by Judge Henley?

Alleged 9/11 Plotters Offer to Confess at Guantánamo

Guantánamo Bay, Cuba - All five of the Guantánamo detainees charged with planning and coordinating the Sept. 11 attacks have asked a military judge to accept their confessions in full. The request appeared to be intended to cut short any effort to try them, and to challenge the United States government to put them to death.

At the start of what had been expected to be routine proceedings Monday, the military judge, Col. Steven Henley, disclosed that he had received a written statement from the five men. The statement said the five planned to stop filing written motions and instead "to announce our confessions to plea in full."

As he questioned one of the men, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who has described himself as the mastermind of the 2001 attacks, Judge Henley of the United States Army asked whether Mr. Mohammmed was prepared to enter pleas to the charges against him today. "Yes," Mr. Mohammed answered brusquely.

A glimmer of hope here? And later, a segue into a real 9/11 investigation?

It's up to us (those living a truthful reality - not the one created by the Bush team) to rally the citizens to demand justice and accountability from the Bush crime family, and then work towards 9/11 Truth justice as more info is exposed to those currently unaware or in denial Americans . . .

We'll have a short window of opportunity here to help hold Obama's feet to the fire once he's in. A grassroot's pressure needs to begin now, as it is, and grow quickly through January, assuming something else doesn't happen (as it usually does) to alter our eyes on the ball . . .

November 27, 2008 "Information Clearinghouse" --- It is generally considered a courtesy for a newly inaugurated President to overlook any sins of the past incumbent in the interests of 'looking ahead' and in the knowledge that the same good manners will be repeated after his/her own end of term.

The most extreme example of this was Gerald Ford's pardon of Richard Nixon after the latter's ignominious resignation. Arguably necessary for the health of the nation after its 'long nightmare', it was nevertheless handled badly, and Ford paid a price by becoming a one-term President.

Not to trivialize Nixon's crimes (and part of the flawed pardon process meant there was no allocution, no admission of guilt, no mention of the many crimes besides Watergate), the three articles of impeachment mentioned the actual break-in, cover-up, including the payment 'hush money', misuse of the FBI and IRS, ignoring subpoenas, spying, and such matters (remind you of anyone?).

The Director of Central Intelligence (DCI) must be a person whose previous professional performance has been distinguished by unimpeachable integrity and independence. The director must have the courage of his or her own convictions.

Without integrity and courage, all virtue is specious, and no amount of structural or organizational reform will make any difference.

Maybe truth-telling is becoming more fashionable now . . . The pendulum seems to be swinging back that way as people are realizing that by not confronting reality in all categories (wars, politics, finances, science, etc.) it will eventually affect us all, as it has now allowed, finally with some losing 50% of their paper investments, to open their eyes and begin to wake up. To other realities. 9/11 Truth is the path to all else.

Gates and the Urge to Surge

It may become a biennial ritual. Every two years, if the commander-in-chief (or the commander-in-chief-elect) says he wants to throw more troops into an unwinnable war for no clear reason other than his political advantage, panderer-in-chief Robert Gates will shout “Outstanding!”

Never mind what the commanders in the field are saying — much less the troops who will die.

After meeting in Canada on Friday with counterparts from countries with troops in Afghanistan, Defense Secretary Gates emphasized to reporters there is a shared interest in “surging as many forces as we can” into Afghanistan before the elections there in late September 2009.

At the concluding news conference, Gates again drove home the point, “It’s important that we have a surge of forces.”

Basking in the alleged success of the Iraq “surge,” Gates knows a winning word when he hears one – whether the facts are with him or not.

"As Bad As Rumsfeld?" The title jars, doesn't it? The more so, since Defense Secretary Robert Gates found his predecessor, Donald Rumsfeld, such an easy act to follow.

But the jarring part reflects how malnourished most of us are on the thin gruel served up by the Fawning Corporate Media (FCM).

Over the past few months, Defense Secretary Gates has generated accolades from FCM pundits — like the Washington Post's David Ignatius — that read like letters of recommendation to graduate school.

This comes as no surprise to those of us – including his former colleagues at the CIA’s analytical division – familiar with Gates's dexterity in orchestrating his own advancement. What DOES come as a surprise is the recurring rumor that President-elect Obama may decide to put new wine in old wineskins by letting Gates stay.

After a week lecturing at Kansas State University and then in Kansas City, Missouri, I could not shake the feeling that what Kansas and Missouri need most is the equivalent of Radio Free Europe, which was so effective in spreading truth around inside Eastern Europe during the Cold War.

(Truth in advertising: during the late Sixties, I served for two years as substantive liaison officer between the RFE and Washington.)

So I was amused while still in Kansas to get a call from Mike Caddell of “Radio Free Kansas” asking me for an interview. Broadcasting from rural northeastern Kansas, Caddell does his own part in spreading truth around.

Most of his fellow Kansans are malnourished by a steady diet of extreme right-wing media gruel that helps re-elect folks like see-no-evil Republican Sen. Pat Roberts, who did Bush’s bidding in “justifying” Bush’s attack on Iraq when Roberts headed the Senate Intelligence Committee.

[Remaining hopeful, I would like to believe that Obama knows exactly what is going on around him, and what a number of his consultants like Brzezinski assigned to him are all about. I also have to believe that at this time, Barack Obama still has a good heart (stop laughing; I know this sounds incredibly naive), and being so relatively new to the scene has not yet been compromised, like most are, with few exceptions (JFK), that rise to the top in politics.

But Biden's uncontrollable mouth may have alerted us to the Obama-Biden administration's post-election surprise - something so scary, Obama is "gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him...." Whatever's on Biden's agitated little mind, it must be big, real big. "
