April 4th . . . The Time is Now for Global "Truthism" . . . 04.04

40 and 4

April 04, 2008

Nor does the human spirit move without great difficulty against all the apathy of conformist thought within one's own bosom and in the surrounding world.
-Martin Luther King, Jr. Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence
April 04, 1967

Martin Luther King, Jr, delivered his brilliant speech: Beyond Vietnam at the Riverside Church in NYC exactly one year before he was killed, 40 years ago on April 4, 1968, on that infamous balcony in Memphis, Tennessee. His most famous speech is the brilliant I Have a Dream that he delivered to the mass of people who gathered in front of the Lincoln Monument in DC for a Civil Rights' gathering in 1963. Dr. King's Beyond Vietnam speech, however, clearly makes the connections between poverty, racism and militarism and was very threatening to the out of control war machine that was waging a bloody, bloody catastrophe in Vietnam. Dr. King was an effective orator and great organizer, but when he gave his Beyond Vietnam speech, (which many of his colleagues begged him not to give) he became a threat to the pigs of war.

9/11 Movies - Spring Series 7 - TRUTH TUESDAYS!

This is our tentative schedule - any ideas or input?

We're also working on a tentative Summer Series of 13 movies if Jon and I can pull it together. Our only theater timeslot option may be Midnight showings on Fridays (June through August). Maybe we should show the same movie every Friday night . . . ? Jon reminded me of the Rocky Horror Picture Show . . . Maybe we just replace the word "Rocky" with "Bush/Cheney" for our Summer Series title.

We've decided to continue donating ALL ticket proceeds to the FealGood Foundation rather than use any towards the cost of the theater rental which we were considering doing so we could keep this project alive through the summer. But we'll cross that bridge when we have to . . . .

We also had looked into raising the price of the tickets to $10, but the feedback seemed to indicate that it was not a good idea - especially in light of our non-surging economy. We want to make it as easy as possible for people to attend these movies . . .

How Lethally Stupid Can One Country Be?

24/03/08 "ICH" -- -- Watching George W. Bush in operation these last couple of weeks is like having an out-of-body experience. On acid. During a nightmare. In a different galaxy.

Let's Give James a Straight Answer . . . to His "Open Question" to Truthers - Are We all Talk and No Action?

(He better hope Geraldo Rivera doesn't read his words re an "armed [sic] over throw" . . . Or rather WE better hope not . . .)

An open question to the "Truth" movement...

By James Strait

If 9/11 is as the “truthers” say it is, a governmental conspiracy, then that reality would be of such horrific magnitude that if I truly believed in such, that I would be a leader for armed over throw of an irreversibly immoral government. If the truthers version of 9/11 were true, it would be the most vile act in all of American History, and it is the stuff that is worth sacrificing your life and legacy over.

Why are the “truthers” all talk and no action?

A Fable: What the President's response to 9/11 might have been

By L.M. Arndt

The President never made it to the classroom that morning, and so he missed the reading of “The Pet Goat.” When the Secret Service agent gave him the news that a plane had hit one of the World Trade Center towers, he immediately had an aide contact the school to say that the President would be delayed.

It might not amount to anything. Planes had crashed into buildings before, usually totalling the plane but creating relatively little damage to the building. Still, with the bits and pieces of information that had been coming in over the past several months, including hints of an attack – well, any such event had to be taken seriously.

More messages soon removed all doubt. Two other planes had been highjacked. One of them had hit the second tower. Both towers were on fire. Clouds of black smoke were pouring from the impact sites.

Ricin Man Identified-- Home, Warehouse to be Searched

By Rob Kall

According to a Homeland Security internal document obtained by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the man in a coma whose room contained ricin is Roger Von Bergendorff, of Riverton Utah.

The ricin was discovered by his cousin, Thomas Tholen, according to an article by Associated Press, which also reported:

A down-on-his-luck Roger Von Bergendorff lived at the home of his cousin Thomas Tholen for more than a year before moving to Las Vegas about a year ago, said Tammy Ewell, who lives across the street from Tholen in Riverton, Utah.

She described Tholen and his wife, Ellen, as close friends.

"He was very much a loner. I would say more or less socially regressive. He just barely got by in life. He'd just barely make it," Ewell said of Von Bergendorff. "Tom was the last resort."

Dick Cheney’s Song of America, By David Armstrong

In Case You Missed It

Dick Cheney’s Song of America

The Plan is for the United States to rule the world. The overt theme is unilateralism, but it is ultimately a story of domination. It calls for the United States to maintain its overwhelming military superiority and prevent new rivals from rising up to challenge it on the world stage. It calls for dominion over friends and enemies alike. It says not that the United States must be more powerful, or most powerful, but that it must be absolutely powerful.

BETRAYED AGAIN: How Bush betrays the 9/11 first responders once more.

By Sherman Yellen

It’s amazing. Just when you think there are no new depths of shamelessness and betrayal of trust to which the Bush administration can sink, they manage to sink deeper into unchartered infamy. Hold on now, I’m not even mad yet. I’m talking about the seventy seven percent cut in the medical assistance for 9/11 first responders in the current federal budget. Gravely ill firemen, police, and other workers who labored at that site, workers who have come down with life threatening cancers and respiratory illnesses linked to their heroic efforts at ground zero are being shafted once again.

Tentative Extension of Wayne, PA "Truth Tuesdays" 9/11 Movie Nights into March, 2008

Jon & I are hoping to extend the 9/11 movie showings on a month-to-month basis.

Here's the tentative schedule; sorry, I don't know how to make an image/pdf file appear here.
