CommonDreams is a highly visited "progressive" news site. The focus there is mainly on reprinting corporate-produced pieces that somehow share the biases of the editors. They do also however print editorials from freelance writers, and when the issue of the 9/11 cover up is breached, only one side is permitted to weigh in. And that side is permitted to outright attack and to libel the other side, the 'other' side being the amorphous "9/11 Truth Movement."

No response in kind is permitted; it doesn't matter the content, nor the quality of the evidence. This policy has rightly earned CommonDreams the reputation of "gatekeepers" among disgruntled readers.

I'll cut to the chase: the cover up of 9/11 was all about hiding incompetence; that is the opinion of Philip Shenon (NY Times) and the gaggle of book reviewers who promote his tome over at Big Media.

Let's make the crucial distinction up front:

It's not "incompetence"
if done intentionally.

This unthinkable concept has never made it up to the editors and reporters of America's well-paid professional journalism class. There can only be unintentional incompetence, and never purposeful malfeasance: never agency of treason.

Such myths would be comforting if there weren't a long and despicable history of such government crimes to draw upon -- something professional journalists are supposed to be aware of, yet never seem to write about.

I might as well get an article out of my serial banning in the "progressive" sphere of the interweb tubes. Funny, I hold some pretty "progressive" ideas.

My ideas about the corruption of the alternative media by foundation funding grants seems to irk a few lib-censors however. That is where the rubber and road meet. They wanna get paid, homes. And they don't want readers to know by whom.

Somebody may find this issue instructive. Alternet.org just banned me, without explanation. I figured it out quickly however, because my last post there was deleted, which I will try and recreate here from an admittedly faulty memory.

Former FBI translator Sibel Edmonds has released some new information in The Sunday Times (UK--also posted to Alternet.org), and on her website. This should be required reading for every US citizen.

Sibel risks jail time (or worse) in order to make these highly disturbing allegations against high ranking US government officials. Sibel has been officially gagged by the Justice Department (sic) for several years.

Sibel also testified to the 9/11 Commission, but her allegations were ignored, and her testimony eliminated from their final report. In her open letter to Thomas Kean, the nominal head of the 9/11 Commission, Edmonds first made public her most shocking allegations:

I have confirmed that the DOJ document does reveal what is claimed in this article. Specifically: the FBI informant and "asset" that lived with 2 alleged 9/11 hijackers was paid $100.000 in 2003 for unspecified reasons, even though he refused to meet with Congressional investigators and even with DOJ Inspector General investigators.

Others have described this as the FBI "hiding" him.

But he vowed that his advocacy on behalf of Mariani’s interests has just begun, and said that Hellerstein’s order shows “blatant prejudice” against the 9-11 widow.

I hear a lot of nonsense on the Internet -- much disinformation, [1] plain old vanilla misinformation, and grotesque ignorance up the wazoo.

Ignorance of specific facts and incidents is excusable, but an entirely fraudulent view of modern history?

You can't quite be sure if your fellow travellers have any inkling of their own nation's history, of their own government's substantiated, well-documented, and even admitted-to series of wrongdoings -- crimes, conspiracies.

Thus, you inevitably run into the cult of wild-eyed hyper-emotional flag-wavers who bring along their own lexicon of rude, arrogant and sometimes vulgar slurs. I'm referring to the "conspiradroid," "whack job," "nutcase," "moonbat," variety.

Why do these people seek solace in ignorance? I can understand that the alternative is scary, even terrifying. But hiding your head under the pillow does not make reality just disappear. Sorry, children.

If you're going to be so obviously one-sided, why bother pretending anymore?

Your article, "Many Americans still believe in conspiracies" tells only one side of each of the topics mentioned. This is disgraceful "journalism" that is clearly nothing more than a "hit piece." Rather than examine why these views are so popular, you have insulted those who hold these views, and you have solicited analysis by psychologists in a most condescending and pretentious manner.

I'm disgusted that Ron Paul voted repeatedly against the Cheney impeachment bill (HR333, NOW HR799). This was roll call 1037, 1038, and 1039. Paul sided with Sterney Hoyer who attempted to kill the bill altogether, and against Kucinich.

I had praised Paul for his statements about the lack of independent investigation into 9/11. Paul should certainly have taken the same stance on investigating Dick Cheney in formal impeachment proceedings.

The second vote, which is inexcusable and just hypocritical for Paul and his carefully crafted persona is roll call 993, The "Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007."

Paul did not vote.

Kucinich showed up to vote against it. One of 6 to actually stand up for the Constitution.

Noam Chomsky's 2006 "analysis" of US government 9/11 complicity is being promoted by Alternet.org as if it was news. That's because Chomsky basically sides with the editors there and their dismissive attitudes toward looking at the evidence.

In this battle of ideas, it warms my heart that Alternet's boards are swamped with controversy the minute they try to push this garbage onto the unsuspecting.

I remain a bit dazed though that hard core "leftists" accept Chomsky's thin dismissal, and ignore the most important admission Chomsky has made:

It's not civil disobedience, but corporate disobedience -- upsetting the corporate control paradigm -- that just plain flips out the media oligarchs and their loyal proxies.

A little refresher on that one. Let's see, a warning of a "suicide skyjacking" by "Al Qaeda" to hijack a commercial airliner and "crash it into the summit of industrialized nations." This was a warning of an assassination attempt on Bush's life. Italian security forces placed anti-aircraft missiles around Columbus airport in Genoa.

Beck and censorship are the real "menace to society." The protestors were using civil disobedience (something Beck evidently never heard of) to protest Maher and his network's censorship of the most important news story of our time: the black and white proven cover up of the 9/11 attacks.

There are reasons to doubt the hijacker story. I remain agnostic on this question of whether they did it, but I can see both sides.

1) The identities are in doubt, yet the government refused to correct them, or to admit they were unsure.

People whose photos appeared as the FBI's hijackers turned up alive. This is very strange.

2) The Pentagon plane maneuver could not have been performed by the pilot the government says was in control. Thus say numerous professional pilots. This is a discrepancy. The Pentagon plane is highly suspicous for many reason (which I don't see you acknowledging).

Bill's obstinance and refusal to debate 9/11 is a serious issue. It puts his credibility on the line. If he's so sure of himself, why won't he address the leading authors about the 9/11 cover up?

He also has taken the cowardly line, obfuscating the government cover up and lies about 9/11 with the one issue of controlled demolition. Forgetting that he's done nothing to actually disprove the demolition hypothesis, other than ad hominem childish attacks, he has yet to acknowledge that we really don't know what happened on 9/11 because it was completely covered up by the white house, and that the 9/11 commission report was an obvious farce.

One of Dr. Griffin's books documents 115 "Lies and Omissions" in that report. Other prominent writers and researchers should be invited to address these issues. Until that day, when we get a FAIR hearing, Bill will continue to feel the heat from the street.

This is my "Holy Fucking Shit" moment of the week.

In a recent blog, a highly placed truther (Griffin?) suggests ignoring the specific disinformation agents, and focusing on the historical record of disinformation tactics.

This may be more of an academic exercise than a public relations strategy, however.

I would suggest rather that we instead frame the issue on our terms (in places where a mainstream audience dwells). This would render the "theories" moot and irrelevant.

1. Validating the need for truth.

How many lies can you find uttered by high ranking government officials? We should start a web page with just that debunking of official statements. My own favorite is Ari Fleischer aboard air force one on 9/11: "No warnings."

2. Similarly, we have the omissions, the substantial facts that were never investigated. Another page could list exhaustively all the omissions we can find. Griffin's work is excellent in this regard.

3. The synthesis: They lie, so we want the truth.

If we can prove dishonesty, omission, and worse, we are vindicated. We retain the high ground, as well as a solid grounding not based on flights of fancy, opinion, or deception.

The articles linked below help to substantiate that a van was stopped at the George Washington Bridge on 9/11, about 10:30pm by Port Authority police. It was reported to be full of explosives, and the G.W. Bridge was closed for several hours. Two or three suspects were arrested, and the FBI quickly took over.

We need to get the Port Authority police reports of that incident to prove it actually happened.

We also need interviews and affidavits from police officers who were there that night.

If the feds made a van full of explosives disappear and covered it up, then that could be considered TREASON. The police officer affidavits could be taken to federal judges as evidence of treason. This could blow the lid off 9/11 if people will volunteer to do the hard investigating.

I'm considering a blog called CounterPunch Watch, devoted to exposing "America's Best Political Newsletter." Maybe someone else has time/inclination for this.

They all rely on the same tired BBC/Popular Mechanics topics, without actually investigating anything at all. They're working from talking points. These numb nuts really aren't worth the time and effort, except that their publication is widely read, and reports responsibly on OTHER topics.

Longtime international journalist Robert Fisk has entered the debate over September 11th 2001. Immediately, he was pounced on by CounterPunch for voicing his concerns.

One might ask why CounterPunch sees it as a high priority to attack those who voice skepticism of the government's account of 9/11?

Manuel Garcia Jr., whose actual career has included work on more advanced weapons of mass destruction (WMD's) for the US government, has written some questionable papers about the New York building "collapses" of 9/11. Garcia no longer includes his Lawrence Livermore Laboratory resume at the end of his articles, for some reason, but this is what he told us originally:

"[Garcia's] working experience includes measurements on nuclear bomb tests, devising mathematical models of energetic physical effects, and trying to enlarge a union of weapons scientists."

While establishing some level of expertise, the elephant in the room would be the morality of someone, at this late stage of our MAD evolution, helping build more effective nuclear bombs. And, if one has no reservations about vaporizing thousands to millions of humans, in a single blast, what's a little disinformation on the morality spectrum?

George Tenet is pissed. He wrote a lengthy and disgusted response to this CIA Inspector General report, printed in the NY Times (August 21, 2007). Here is his closing line:

"But just as we owed it to the country to do better — the CIA IG owed it to the nation and the men and women of the intelligence community to do a better job in reviewing the circumstances that led to the tragedy of September 11th." --Former Director of CIA, George Tenet

What's gotten Tenet so frosty? I mean, he does admit that "...we owed it to the country to do better..."

The CIA's "Summary" doesn't spill too many beans, but in general language they hint at realities that other reports like the FBI Inspector General Report have already revealed.

"Concerning certain issues [unspecified], the ["Accountability Review"] Team concluded that the [Central Intelligence] Agency and its officers did not discharge their responsibilities in a satisfactory manner.

That is a pretty powerful statement, depending upon what the "issues" actually refer to. The previous FBI IG report (2004) exposed how the CounterTerrorism Center (CTC) -- run by CIA -- deliberately blocked a memo from alerting the FBI about two of the purported 9/11 skyjackers.

Two of the alleged terrorists had multi-entry United States visas, and were observed at a "high level Al Qaeda meeting" in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

An FBI official assigned to the CIA/CTC wrote the memo to inform his agency to look out for the terrorists, who later easily entered the US with valid visas. Believing that his memo was sent over to FBI, the FBI official was unaware that CIA supervisors had held the memo and never sent it to FBI.

Was this protection of known terrorists, and hiding them from FBI tantamount to treason ("aiding the enemy")?

That's a question we should not expect answered by the CIA, nor the FBI, nor the Congress apparently.

Thursday, June 14 -- I’m taking notes in Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein’s spacious courtroom atop the Daniel Patrick Moynihan United States Courthouse at 500 Pearl Street in New York. This as lawyers from United Air Lines, American Airlines, Boeing Corporation, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, World Trade Center Properties, et al, make a motion for a determination of applicable law and for dismissal of all punitive damage claims as well as certain government discovery in the 9/11 damage suits.

The fleet of high-priced lawyers fills half the paneled courtroom. A packed gallery fills the other half. Among the corporate legal fleet are a smaller number of lawyers for the remaining plaintiffs who did not take the 9/11 Victim Compensation money. One of plaintiffs’ lawyers, Greg Joseph, is noted to say, “Any trial is a good trial.”

There is some hinting that fake UFOs are coordinated as light shows for observers, as part of psychological warfare exercises.

This relates to 9-11, as it parallels the disinformation attacks we have suffered under since that tragic day. Interesting links back to Rockefeller are included.

The most likely explanation, and one released in an investigation of the UFO phenomena, is that this was the cover story of choice when top secret experimental aircraft were sighted by civilians. Coincidentally, that was also the plot of the first X-Files show; then it went off into other less plausible "truths" that were "out there."

The UFO / CIA connection could help, as long as the evidence checks out. It shows a pattern of deliberately lying to the people, almost gleefully telling us bullshit ... just because they can.

Skeptic Magazine has come out with a half-assed response to the 9/11 Truth Movement. They cite Popular Mechanics' theories about the attacks, and not much else in their 9/11 Conspiracy Theories, the 9/11 Truth Movement in Perspective.

Someone should have told them that Professor David Ray Griffin has demolished the Popular Mechanics diatribe in his Debunking 9/11 Debunking: An Answer to Popular Mechanics and Other Defenders of the Official Conspiracy Theory.

Let's forego all of that -- pretend it never happened -- and get to the accusations of the article.

The search isn't showing things I know exist on this very site. Is Google fucking with us?

I've wasted at least an hour looking for two things:

1) Recent post about a controlled demolition that wasn't from the basement. It included photos and was at a higher point in the building.

2) A news report video of WTC7, where the SMOKE was clearly shown behind the newscaster as originating from across the street at WTC6, or the "AMEX" building.

The search doesn't appear to care about these topics for some reason.

It also had a weird propensity to undercount hits, of something say like my own handle. I know I have many more posts than appeared in the search results.
