Recently, I forwarded a link for 9/11: Press for Truth to a number of people on my mailing list. One of these people forwarded the link to HIS mailing list, which I'm on. So I thought this was great because he's someone I haven't ever communicated with regarding 9/11 truth. Then, last night, he sent out to his same mailing list the link to the Michael Shermer hit-piece in Scientific American along with that video link where Shermer is interviewed on C-SPAN. Not knowing whether my friend jumped over to the other side, or whether he just wanted to be "fair and balanced," I decided to respond with a letter. Here it is:

That article by Michael Shermer really wasn't a response to 9/11: Press for Truth (as your message subject indicates) -- it was a hit piece about 9/11 conspiracies -- and, there's no mention of the film in that article.

Press for Truth is NOT a film about "conspiracy theories," but instead delves into the unanswered questions of the family members of the victims, the facts about the 9/11 Commission that many people don't know, and the established but marginalized media reports about the involvement of the Pakistani ISI (intelligence service). The film features interviews with Paul Thompson, the author of the comprehensive timeline of 9/11 http://cooperativeresearch.org -- a man who few people (except the uninformed) would call a "conspiracy theorist." The point of Press for Truth is to establish a clear case as to why we need a new investigation into what happened on 9/11.

Fidel Castro showed up at my house one sunny afternoon in 1959. It was daddy in a mask. Over the months, I watched the George Washington of Cuba (The New York Times) transmute to Robespierre in about nine minutes, as I remember. I've been interested ever since.

So when Bernie Reeves of Metro Magazine, Betsy Buford and the good people at the N.C. Museum of History made Cuba and Fidel the subject of the Fourth Annual International Spy Convention, I jumped. See, I had an inside. When grandpa and grandma came visiting, the power trunk of Evert and Margaret's titanic Lincoln would disgorge Air Force rocket models and parts of the real things, programmable timers, switch panels, bearings, gyroscopes, bomb-sight lenses, you name it. Grandpa had done a job on the Nazis with an aerial bomb fuse of his design. Biddabang-biddaboom, the rocket crazy '50s and '60s took off and there was work aplenty for Raymond Engineering Laboratories.

The official version is that Plane 1 (AA Flight 11) struck the North Tower, WTC, Plane 2 (United Flight 175) struck the South Tower, Plane 3 (AA Flight 77) struck the Pentagon, and Plane 4 (United Flight 93) was supposed to be headed toward the Capitol or the White House.

Now, I say, Planes 1, 2, 3, and 4 because this is how it went down chronologically. I try to think about the effect if the order of events that day were different.

And if you think about it for a sec, you probably could imagine it as well. We have been presented with the "attacks" from the vantage point of a "viewer", an audience.

The fact is, from the position of the passengers of any of the planes, there would likely have only been plane 1 - their plane.

And while the order of events make the resistance on 93 seem especially heroic in the face of 3 woefully unresisted strikes - from an audience point of view, in retrospect it seems odd.

Why this plane and no other? Was this group of passengers more aware of what was going on and were in a postion to act accordingly?

From the point of view of the "terrorists", the order would be by primary target and then down the line. If we go by the order of strikes and the subsequent media coverage, then the WTC seemed to have been the primary target.

This man is a snake in the grass, the entire 911-Truth Movement needs to distance ourselves from him. He doesn’t represent me or 99.99% of the Movement!! What he represents are the perpetrators of the attack IMO!

I posted this on Loose Change 2 Forum, but I wanted to share it here and thank the many members who have responded to my post in the past.

On Sunday I decided I wanted to go to Cooper Hall and make it a two day
thing. My girl and I got there a little early, about 11:00 and wasn't
sure if we had the right place. I figured many would get there early
figuring as I did, that there would be a tremendous crowd. I wanted to get
my tickets and stay for a few hours and then go to ground Zero, then return
for the evening showing of Loose Change and hear Alex Jones speak.

We didn't see any signs or banners on the entrance and didn't
know if we had the right building, then I noticed a truck parked on the
side walk with the words, "Louder Than Words."

We waited to 12:30, when they started selling tickets, to be honest I was
a little surprised there wasn't more people, but thought maybe they
might be waiting for the evening presentation of the Loose Change movie
and Alex Jones.

We stayed a few hours and listened to a few of the key speakers and then
headed off to Ground Zero. I wasn't there ten minutes and I see a

At some point it becomes prudent to ask whether these left gatekeepers (Chomsky, Cockburn, Pitts, et al.) are being paid off in cash or scared off by anthrax? What else could possibly explain the lock step tone and tenor of this sudden deluge of "9/11 Truth Movement" hit pieces? In this latest installment, we are accused of ignoring "reality".

Eventhough Mr. Frank concedes that many unanswered questions remain, he somehow makes the leap that no possible answer "would ever indicate the US government was behind the (9/11) bloody affair". But he accuses "us" of being disconnected from "reality"?

Mr. Frank goes on to accuse the Truth Movement of "willfully ignoring that we’ve got real wars going on in the Middle East right now", never once making the connection that 9/11 was the "new Pearl Harbor" upon which these real wars were launched.

There is a saying that "ignorance is temporary, but stupid is forever". In Mr. Franks case, it's six in one hand, half dozen in the other, in as much as his column is among the most stupidly ignorant that I have read in a long time. Believe me... that's saying alot!

Unfortunately, with the increasing level of instability being displayed by Bush and his administration, we are all living in a new "reality" that is becoming increasingly dangerous to ignore.

National Columnist Leonard Pitts Joins the long list of government apologists and shameless shills with his latest column casting those who would have the temerity to question the "official record" as nothing more than "rote rejectionist" incapable (or perhaps unworthy) of "honest debate".

Just the facts . . . at least as we know them

Apparently I made a major error of fact in a recent column. It turns out, contrary to what I wrote, there never was a Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the United States. It wasn't hijacked airliners that brought down the twin towers of the World Trade Center. Nor did any airplane plow into the Pentagon. Nor did United Flight 93 come to Earth in a field in Shanksville, Pa. Rather, this tragedy was staged by the U.S. government in order to dupe the nation into an oil war in the Middle East.

Or at least so I am told by a surprising plurality of readers. Add to that Hugo Chávez, president of Venezuela and renowned loose cannon, who said in a speech Tuesday it's possible the U.S. government had a hand in attacking itself on Sept. 11.

This blog is very long. I apologize but it’s the most important point, in my opinion, to make for us 9/11 Truthers. I know the media is controlled, but I found a really good speech on Bush's use of the deaths of 3000 people for his political agenda. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14687895

The quote comes from MSNBC. Obviously, part of Ollberman’s argument is Clinton good, Bush bad, but just listen to what he says. Everybody, EVERYBODY, no matter how corrupt or evil they are, always has at least one idea that makes us think as long as we take off our angry hatred sunglasses. For example, Hitler said, “The bigger the lie, the more people will believe it.” One of America’s biggest weaknesses is our inability to LEARN from our enemies. Yes, we all know they are bad, but don’t shut them out. Listen to what they are saying. If it’s bad, shoot it down. But if it’s correct, no matter how they used their correct statement to perpetrate evil, learn from it. Another example of this happened to me personally at Ground Zero on 9/11/06. I saw a rescue worker challenging in a very heated way, the 9/11 Truth Movement. Boy, was he pissed, yelling, cussing, and screaming and a truther was doing his best to convince him, yet to no avail. HOWEVER, when the truther mentioned Larry Silverstein’s PULL IT quote, the skeptic said, “He’s another asshole.” I immediately jumped in and said, well if you both agree that Larry’s an asshole, why are you two arguing? You two are agreeing on something and both of you don’t even realize it. Why don’t you go on that agreement and build from there?” He didn’t have anything else to scream and walked away as soon as I said that. Folks, my point is that yes, these people are pissed at us for suggesting that 9/11 was an inside job. We are pissed too…OUR COUNTRY WAS ATTACKED! But just because we disagree with someone on why 911 occurred does not justify ANY of us in the Movement to shun the skeptics away, especially those who were there that horrible day rescuing people. Whenever you come across a skeptic, no matter how many times they cuss, spit, yell, and threaten violence, we truthers MUST NOT LOSE OUR COOL. Show them respect for voicing their first Amendment right just as we ask those same people to do to us. Don’t make us out to be hypocrites because as soon that happens, we lose credibility and without credibility, our message, no matter how convincing our evidence is, is F**KED. I had a 9/11 firefighter screaming and spitting in my face about how I was a kook, and I never once raised my voice, cussed him, or pointed a finger in his face because disrespect only breeds more disrespect. He did plenty of that for both of us so I let him hit me with it and he came down hard on me. He was actually going to listen to a few quotes I had with me on my laptop, until a cop got confused, thinking we were going to fight, and made us walk separate ways. These people are pissed just as we are that our country was attacked and most are just in denial to the truth. This firefighter wanted to hear my quotes and was sticking the earphone in his ear to listen when the cop broke us up. The right there tells me that most of these skeptics WANTS US TO CONVINCE THEM THAT 9/11 was an inside job. And I’m positive I could’ve convinced this man had the cop not broken it up. But before we split, I made it my responsibility to stick my hand out to this firefighter, shake his hand, and thank him for his opinion and his heroism on 9/11. The bottom line here is that we need to convince as many people as possible of the truth and the ONLY way that we can be 100% effective is to take what they dish out to us, ignore it, keep our mind on business, NOT EMOTION, and most importantly, ESTABLISH COMMON GROUND with skeptics and build from there. You’ll find that most, not all, but MOST of these skeptics will respond a lot better when we truthers show them respect. They are Americans too. Their country was attacked too. And they have a right to be just as angry as we do even if we disagree with why they are angry. Being a speech major in college, I learned that anger is a SECONDARY emotion that begins with fear. The human psyche has two primary emotions, LOVE and FEAR, Remember what George Humphreys said, the guy who made the movie 9/11: The Great Illusion? All the others human emotions, including anger, are SECONDARY. That’s where racism comes from. People hate because they fear other people are going to harm them, physically or emotionally. Everybody, no matter how evil or good they are has something we all can learn from. That why I think you should listen to this MSNBC quote before it’s taken down. It is our patriotic responsibility as 911 truthers to hear them out, establish common ground, and then go from there trying to convince people of the truth. The TV always does a good job of dividing us, rather than focusing on our similarities. We all have similar silly and funny things about us in common. To quote George Carlin:
