Justice Department Drops "Dirty Bomb Plot" Allegation

As the Washington Post reported yesterday, the US Justice Department has dropped the key allegation against British resident and Guantánamo prisoner Binyam Mohamed -- that he was involved, with American citizen Jose Padilla, in a plot to detonate a “dirty bomb” in a US city.

For over three years, Binyam’s lawyers at Reprieve, the London-based legal action charity, have been arguing that the allegations against Binyam were extracted through the use of torture -- in Morocco, where Binyam was tortured for 18 months, after being rendered by the CIA, and at the CIA’s own “Dark Prison,” near Kabul, where he was held for four or five months from January 2004, before his transfer to the US military prison at Bagram airbase, and his eventual arrival at Guantánamo in September 2004.

Mr. Ford is careful not to espouse the "inside job" thesis, however his account of two Israeli "journalists" frothing at the mouth over the attacks is new to me

The author begins with his encounter with two Israelis on the banks of the Hudson River as the second tower fell at the World Trade Center, and proceeds through the brief euphoria at "victory" in Iraq, and subsequent reversals in U.S. fortunes. "9/11 may one day be viewed much like the assassination of the Archduke Ferdinand, in 1914: as an occurrence that merely served to ignite the inevitable. The Bush regime desperately wanted a global war, and it got one." But rather than ushering in an era of unchallenged American hegemony, the U.S. entered into irreversible decline.

I'm not sure if this has been posted here before. It's from the Black State of the Union Feb 25, 2006. Typically inspired speech by Belafonte in which he broadens the definition of "terrorism" and wonders aloud whether Bin Laden was responsible for 911.

Leader of Al Qaeda group in Iraq was fictional, U.S. military says

BAGHDAD: For more than a year, the leader of one the most notorious insurgent groups in Iraq was said to be a mysterious Iraqi named Abdullah Rashid al-Baghdadi.

As the titular head of the Islamic State in Iraq, an organization publicly backed by Al Qaeda, Baghdadi issued a steady stream of incendiary pronouncements. Despite claims by Iraqi officials that he had been killed in May, Baghdadi appeared to have persevered unscathed.

On Wednesday, a senior American military spokesman provided a new explanation for Baghdadi's ability to escape attack: He never existed.

Brigadier General Kevin Bergner, the chief American military spokesman, said the elusive Baghdadi was actually a fictional character whose audio-taped declarations were provided by an elderly actor named Abu Adullah al-Naima.

Bush seems to enjoy unwavering support by approximately one-quarter of the American population. This bloc is apparently comprised of confused Christian fundamentalists who believe Bush is a man of God, if not the son of God himself;) Yet the philosopher from whose beliefs the neocon agenda derives was anything but religious: he regarded religion in precisely the same manner as Marx. Well almost: “Marx called religion the opium of the people, Strauss thought the people needed their opium.”

edit: The Title of this piece (as well as the body) attributes false statements to Moore. Although he questioned aspects of the attacks and called for a new investigation he did not claim that it was an "inside job".

Michael Moore has revealed that he thinks that 9/11 was an inside job. At Michael Moore's 'Sicko' film premiere, he let his opinion be known about what he thought of 9/11, and he thinks the tragedy was an inside job.

During Michael Moore's film premiere, two young men approached him for an interview and asked him to comment on the 9/11 tragedy.

When Moore was asked what he thought about 9/11, he claimed that there's much more to story and to the investigation than we know about. He says the government "hasn't even told half of the truth", and he intends to find out the whole truth.

Amazing new article from the Jerusalem Post has Shin Bet organizing Palestinian patsies for a hijacking circa 1976.

"According to his information, the hijack was the work of the PFLP, with help from the Israeli Secret Service, the Shin Bet," he wrote.

"The operation was designed to torpedo the PLO's (Palestine Liberation Organization) standing in France and to prevent what they see as a growing rapprochement between the PLO and the Americans."

The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) may have been involved in the hijack of an Air France plane in 1976 by Palestinian terrorists, according to newly declassified British government documents released Friday.

Some 100 passengers were held by hijackers at Entebbe airport in Uganda during an eight-day ordeal that concluded when General Staff Reconnaissance Unit (Sayeret Matkal) troops stormed the building where captives were held.

24 people died in the shoot-out, including three hostages, 20 Ugandans and the commander of the rescue team, Yoni Netanyahu.

Williams maintains that al-Qaida is not content on blowing up one nuclear device or even simply a "dirty" nuke — but wants to explode real nuclear devices in seven U.S. cities simultaneously.

I normally just laugh at this stuff, but this is a chilling article. In fact it's the third time in a matter of weeks I've heard Mueller pushing the "nuclear threat" from "Al-Qaeda". Tell me these lunatics aren't gonna set off a goddman nuclear bomb.

Adam Pearlman, the Jewish Mossad agent who once wrote stinging essays condemning Muslims as "bloodthirsty terrorists", has once again popped up as an "Al-Qaeda spokesman" to frighten the dwindling number of Americans who still believe Al-Qaeda exists outside of U.S. intelligence circles.

"An American member of al-Qaida warned President Bush on Tuesday to end U.S. involvement in all Muslim lands or face an attack worse than the Sept. 11 suicide assault, according to a new videotape."

"Wearing a white robe and a turban, Adam Yehiye Gadahn, who also goes by the name Azzam al-Amriki, said al-Qaida would not negotiate on its demands," reports the Associated Press.
