The conviction of Abdullah Ahmed Ali, 28, Tanvir Hussain, 28, and Assad Sarwar, 29, in relation to the liquid bomb plot has been seen as a major triumph for British police and intelligence efforts. Yet, despite this being the second re-trial, the prosecution was still only able to convict the three for conspiracy to murder, including their intent to bring down an airplane – but not to prove their capability to carry out the plot...
This looks to be a very interesting night in Paris.
"This is not any ordinary listen to other people talk, take your money and go home conference. We will be educating thousands of people in the streets everyday with street actions, teaching all attendees to be effective, motivating, activating and most importantly raising money to help 9/11 1st responders. That's why on 9/11/09 we will be doing a money bomb for 9/11 1st responders in need. All the money made from the event will go directly to helping those heroes and no one else is getting paid a single penny. We all do this for free, for you, for the movement and for the cause, so please come out and show your support."
Don't get confused by imitations this is the real CHANGE conference http://www.wearechange.org/91109
Former agency translator called to testify in Ohio election case this Saturday on Turkish infiltration of U.S. government...
Unless the Dept. of Justice re-invokes their twice-invoked "state secrets privilege" claim in order to once again gag former FBI translator-turned-whistleblower Sibel Edmonds, her attorneys have notified the department by hand-delivered, sworn letter of declaration this week, that she intends to give a public deposition, open to the media, in response to a subpoena this Saturday in Washington D.C..
Edmonds has confirmed her intentions to answer any questions asked of her during the sworn proceedings, fully and publicly, during conversations with The BRAD BLOG this week. She notes that her agreement with her former employer, the FBI --- who fired her illegally after she filed whistleblower allegations about corruption and foreign infiltration in the linguistics department --- includes certain non-disclosure requirements. However, those requirements do not preclude her answering to a legally issued court subpoena.
Calvin Sloan expands on his message at his new blog, The Pursuit of Injustice;
"...The Casus Belli for the Iraq war has been revealed, even by the corporate mainstream media, as a falsification designed for imperial gain. With Alan Greenspan's confession in 2007 that the ''Iraq war is largely about oil,'' whatever disillusions remained in political circles over the motives behind the U.S. occupation of Iraq were squelched...
...Before justifying the U.S. occupation to the Arab world in his speech in Cairo, President Obama reminded us that the United States was originally the victim for it had been "al Qaeda [who] killed nearly 3,000 people on that day [9/11]." And thus, the U.S. will rightfully remain stationed in the crossroads of Central and South Asia until the "violent extremists in Afghanistan and Pakistan" who are "determined to kill as many Americans as they possibly can" are terminated. The Afghan myth is inexorably dependent on the 9/11 myth.
The official narrative of 9/11 and its severe implications still stand as a cornerstone of U.S. foreign policy 8 years after the event. The disturbing truth however, that factions of the U.S. government had a hand in nurturing the plot, cannot be denied. The documented failure of the administration to detain the conspirators and stop the attacks goes beyond incompetence and into the realm of intentional negligence and interference. Further investigation reveals even more deception and distortions.***
The 'War on Terror,' with its focal point, the war in Afghanistan, is thus a facade constructed to mislead the public into supporting despotic, imperialist policies..."
(Peter Lance took note of my Daily Kos diary entry titled "The Wreck of the Patrick Fitzgerald", and although he and I might never agree on the true nature of "al Qaeda", there is something fundamentally wrong about the way that Patrick Fitzgerald has gone after Lance and HarperCollins, threatening legal action if the trade paperback version of Triple Cross saw the light of day. It seems to me that somebody wants the information in Triple Cross suppressed. In my opinion, it is the story of Ali Mohamed, still unknown to so many Americans, and other people around the world, that is causing such a fuss. Anyhow, take a look at Lance's latest article, and decide for yourself just what is going on here. -rep.)
by Peter Lance - July 15th, 2009
Seven weeks ago Patrick Fitzgerald, the most intimidating Federal prosecutor in America, sent my publisher (HarperCollins) and me a letter threatening to sue us for libel if Triple Cross, a book I wrote, critical of his anti-terrorism track record, was published.
Yesterday marked the four week anniversary of the book's pub date and although it's been out for a month, we're still waiting for his summons and complaint.
It was the fourth threat letter that Fitzgerald had sent since October 2007 and the man who’d succeeded in getting New York Times reporter Judith Miller jailed for 85 days in the CIA leak probe, was growing impatient.
"To put it plain and simple," Fitzgerald wrote, "if in fact you publish the book this month and it defames me or casts me in a false light, HarperCollins will be sued." ...
Thoughts on the Chandler/ Greening Dialog on WTC1’s Collapse
Regarding the dialog between David Chandler and Frank Greening on applying Newton’s Third Law of Motion to the “pile driver” theory of WTC1’s collapse, kudos to Chandler for his clear analysis. Greening’s arguments, for the most part, miss the point. Chandler’s rebuttal of Greening stands on its own, but the arguments are worth repeating both to affirm Chandler and to help create a scientific consensus on his analysis.
From an old copy of a widely used textbook, the 929 page University Physics by Sears, Zemansky, and Young (sixth edition), on page 4 we read “An equation must always be dimensionally consistent; this means that two terms may be added or equated only if they have the same units.” Greening’s equations that add or subtract M (units = mass) and dM/dt (time rate of change of mass, units = mass/time) are in basic error. Perhaps Greening can restate his equations correctly for all those interested.

National Level Exercise 2009 (NLE 09)
National Level Exercise 2009 (NLE 09) is scheduled for July 27 through July 31, 2009. NLE 09 will be the first major exercise conducted by the United States government that will focus exclusively on terrorism prevention and protection, as opposed to incident response and recovery.
NLE 09 is designated as a Tier I National Level Exercise. Tier I exercises (formerly known as the Top Officials exercise series or TOPOFF) are conducted annually in accordance with the National Exercise Program (NEP), which serves as the nation's overarching exercise program for planning, organizing, conducting and evaluating national level exercises. The NEP was established to provide the U.S. government, at all levels, exercise opportunities to prepare for catastrophic crises ranging from terrorism to natural disasters.

The most disturbing thing about Barack Obama's call for financial reform was the way in which the president falsified our predicament. He tried to make it sound as though everyone was implicated in the financial breakdown and therefore no one was really to blame. "A culture of irresponsibility took root from Wall Street to Washington to Main Street," Obama explained. "And a regulatory system basically crafted in the wake of a 20th century economic crisis--the Great Depression--was overwhelmed by the speed, scope and sophistication of a 21st century global economy."

The Daily Kos post is still up, and I haven't been deleted yet;
I reckon even if I make just a handful of users at either site take a second look at the BS that they have been spoon-fed regarding 9/11; I have done a good deed.

"If we call Tiller's murder and these other acts domestic terrorism, aren't we inviting the anti-terrorism gun to be pointed at the heads of all Americans, with officials "connecting the dots" and pre-emptively arresting, harassing or spying on people because they FEAR someone might possibly do something because their political rhetoric is passionate or heated?"
The murder of Dr. Tiller.
The attack on the military recruiters.

"About 1,500 suspicious fatalities were reported, mostly poor people with little access to the health system, but only 80 were confirmed swine flu deaths - 10,000 Mexicans die of various flu strains each year. During April and May, more Mexicans probably died of the AK-47 flu i.e. the victims of on going drug war violence, than they did from swine flu."

Upon returning to Mexico City after 100 days in Gringolandia dealing with a personal health crisis, I was met at the door of the downtown hotel where I have bedded down for the past quarter century by a uniformed security guard in jackboots and blue surgical mask who insisted upon smearing my palm with a goopy hand sanitizer as a precaution against the much-hyped swine flu.

Following the posting of Inky99's blog entry, Official story of 9/11 "almost entirely untrue", a follow-up blog was posted by longtime site user, Tocquedeville, entitled, The Conspiracy Theorist Label. Despite Tocquedeville's popularity on the site, he was banned, merely for pointing out the obvious;
"The conspiracy theorist label is the cleverest tool the conspirators have come up with to deter the people from investigating and questioning their (the people's) own government.
The truth is, the greatest threat to our national security is not an external foe, but the secrecy of our own government. Secrecy mis-justified by the claim that it is in the interest of national security. How convenient for the profiteers of the national security state."
Although Tocquedeville ultimately relies on the blowback hypothesis, his opening comment is 100% valid, and true. Now, user Bidet has posted this; Daily Kos diarist, Tocquedeville, has been banned. This diary is a petition to get him unbanned. Inky99's blog garnered over 1000 comments, the same as Tocquedeville's diary. However, the diary entry calling for the reinstatement of Tocquedeville has collected over 2500 comments as of 0622 Central Time today, and the poll has over 8200 votes, with a 2 to 1 majority asking for the unbanning of Tocquedeville.
In a telephone conversation with RAW STORY, Pulitzer-winning investigative journalist Seymour Hersh refuted reports that he told an Arab television network former Vice President Dick Cheney ordered the assassination of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
Numerous Internet and mainstream publications picked up the story on Monday. Even The Wall Street Journal linked to unverified sources carrying the story. (Screenshot.) U.S. conservative magazine The American Spectator also published a blog with the false information. (Screenshot.)
Hersh told RAW STORY Investigative News Editor Larisa Alexandrovna that he made no such statements.
Following RAW STORY’s Monday evening report, the Journal removed the links from its Web site.

Now, before you get your panties in a bunch, this is about a new book, titled "The Ground Truth: The Story Behind America's Defense on 9/11".
And before you get all outraged (The FAQ! The FAQ!), here is the author of the book, John Farmer:
John Farmer served as Senior Counsel to the 9/11 Commission, where his areas of responsibility included assessing the national response to the terrorist attacks and evaluating the current state of national preparedness for terrorist attacks and natural disasters, he also served as attorney general of New Jersey (1999-2002), as chief counsel to Governor Whitman, and as a federal prosecutor. He recently served as a subject matter/rule of law expert on security to the special envoy for Middle East regional security. He is currently a partner of a New Jersey law form and an adjunct professor of national security law at Rutgers University Law School. His editorials and articles have appeared in "The New York Times" and elsewhere
And my diary title are the words of Farmer's publisher, Houghton Mifflin...

1) Newton’s Third Law as applied to WTC Tower
On April 19, 2009 F. Greening wrote to me and I replied:
FG: "I would say that Chandler's slight of hand is the implied notion that Newton's 3rd Law is universally applicable, even to a collapsing building. The fact is that when a building is collapsing by multiple floor failures the reaction force obviously fails to balance the downward force because the yield strength of the failing columns is being exceeded."
SJ: No. This is a blatant and fundamental error. I have caught many a student on the equivalent of this nonsense, as I taught Newtonian Mechanics for over 21 years. Newton's 3rd law is always applicable, even in the case you mention, Frank. The key is that the "equal and opposite forces" must act on DIFFERENT bodies. Suggest you consult a basic physics or mechanics text if you don't understand that. – Steven Jones
From Fred Mann;
On May 7, 2009 Professor David Ray Griffin came to Lucerne Switzerland on his tour through Europe that took him to Paris, Brussels and Madrid, and several other cities for an evening under the motto: “9/11 Time for a second look”.
As a leading figure in the world wide 9/11 truth movement it was an honor to welcome him and listen to his speech, live and in person. At the same time I grabbed the opportunity because of the currentness of the topic and also invited Professor Dr. Niels Harrit to our event, who published together with eight other scientists their paper about nano-thermite that they found in the dust of ground zero. That both respected personalities would inform us in the same evening was a special experience.
An attendee of Jones' UC Davis lecture has posted a lo-fi version of the lecture at YouTube;
I'm assuming that higher quality video is in the pipeline somewhere, and when it become available, we'll front page that version.
(Introductions from Bonnie Faulkner and Janette MacKinlay)
"United States interrogators killed nearly four dozen detainees during or after their interrogations, according a report published by a human rights researcher based on a Human Rights First report and followup investigations.
In all, 98 detainees have died while in US hands. Thirty-four homicides have been identified, with at least eight detainees — and as many as 12 — having been tortured to death, according to a 2006 Human Rights First report that underwrites the researcher’s posting. The causes of 48 more deaths remain uncertain.
The researcher, John Sifton, worked for five years for Human Rights Watch. In a posting Tuesday, he documents myriad cases of detainees who died at the hands of their US interrogators. Some of the instances he cites are graphic.

Yukihisa Fujita, a member of the Upper House of the Japanese Diet (Parliament) has recently published a book titled:
"Questioning 9/11 Terror at the National Diet - Can Obama Change the USA?"
Co-authors of the book are David Ray Griffin, Yumi Kikuchi, Akira Doujimaru.and Chihaya
Councilor Fujita is a current member and former director of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense. In this function he questioned 9/11 three times in parliament. Fujita claims that 9/11 as the main reason for the "War on Terror" needs to be newly investigated in order to find peaceful solutions.
On April 8 there was a formal reception on the ocassion of the publishing Mr. Fujita's book
at the Tokyo Dome Hotel.
The event was organized and promoted by a large group of Mr. Fujita's supporters including the Chairman of the daily newspaper Japan Times, several leading representatives of the Democratic Party and several business excecutives. They hosted the event in honour of Mr. Fujita
Yumi Kikuchi, a well known peace and 9/11 activist first presented a video lecture that had been prepared by co-author of the book, Akira Doujimaru, who lives in Spain and was not present at the event. The presentation explained in great detail the numerous main points that completely contradict the official 9/11 account of the US administration and the mainstream media. It was made clear that 9/11 is used to constantly justify wars.

Arizona Senator John McCain is the latest high-profile politician to repeat the diehard American falsehood that the Sept. 11, 2001, attackers entered the United States through Canada.
Just days after Janet Napolitano, the U.S. homeland security secretary, sparked a diplomatic kerfuffle by suggesting the perpetrators took a Canadian route to the U.S. eight years ago, McCain defended her by saying that, in fact, the former Arizona governor was correct.
"Well, some of the 9/11 hijackers did come through Canada, as you know," McCain, last year's Republican presidential candidate, said on Fox News on Friday.
The Arizona senator's remarks prompted the Canadian embassy to immediately reissue remarks made Tuesday by Ambassador Michael Wilson, who reminded Americans once again that none of the attackers came to the U.S. via Canada.
"Unfortunately, misconceptions arise on something as fundamental as where the 9/11 terrorists came from," Wilson said.

Sept. 11 riddles remain
By: KEITH PHUCAS, Times Herald Staff
NORRISTOWN - Accusations that the 9/11 Commission ignored information about a defense intelligence operation "Able Danger" that targeted al-Qaida in 2000 has renewed criticism that the panel may have passed up other intriguing leads gathered in the months before the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
A memorandum sent to the 9/11 Commission, and Senate and House intelligence committees in September 2004, suggests that young Israelis who canvassed dozens of U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) offices in 2000 and 2001 trying to sell paintings to federal workers, may have been spying not only on the DEA, but also on Arab extremists in the United States - including the Sept. 11 hijackers who were living in Florida and New Jersey.

The conservative german Süddeutsche Zeitung on April 4 published an remarkable article within a series on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of NATO. Excerpts and summary here:
Underground Troops In Nato Countries - Guerilla For The State by Jonathan Stock
It was a secret of many Nato member countries. Underground armies were existing to fight in the case of a Soviet invasion in guerrilla fashion. The trails lead back into the 1950s - NATO is still blocking the facts.
The article goes in great detail into the history of Gladio, its connections with former german SS troops and plans to blow up bridges and other strategic infrastructures in case of an soviet invasion after WW2. The story the "Stay behind Army" was blown open in 1952 when members of the underground groups informed police and the scandal first made the news. This lead to a politcal uproar when it is revealed that a list of numerous well known german personalities exited who were planned to have been killed in case of an emergency situation. The list included communists as well as social democrats and the state interior minister of the german state of Hessen. Several people were arrested when the list was discovered. German chancellor Adenauer claimed to have not known anything about the activities at the time. The US High Commissioner Walter Donnelly claimed the group was about to be dissolved in the same month when the arrests occurred. The Süddeutsche Zeitung article then reports that after a ruling of the german constitutional court the arrested members were released in the same month.
