CBS publishes 9/11 Truth hit piece; Scholars for 9/11 Truth respond

Clearly, the corporate media are promoting a flurry of 9/11 Truth hit pieces for a reason. What that reason is exactly, I don't know. Of course, Paula Zahn tried to smear 9/11 Truth with the brush of anti-semitism. CBS recently added a template hit piece, complete with references to aliens and Tom Cruise's baby. The CBS piece prompted a reply from Jim Fetzer.

Fetzer's response is as bizarre as the hit piece is typical. Consider his comments that appear in the first two paragraphs of this so-called news release:

“It [the CBS report] is chock full of false assertions, even including misidentification of Steven Jones, my former co-chair, as the society ’s founder.”

Senators Want CIA Report on 9/11 Failures Declassified

Jan. 31, 2007 - The Senate Intelligence Committee and the CIA may be headed for a new confrontation over an old issue: why an internal report documenting the agency’s failures in the run up to the September 11 terror attacks is still being withheld from the public.

The report, prepared by the CIA’s inspector general, is the only major 9/11 government review that has still not been made publicly available.

When it was completed in August 2005, NEWSWEEK and other publications reported that it contained sharp criticisms of former CIA director George Tenet and other top agency officials for failing to address the threat posed by Al Qaeda, as well as other mistakes that might have prevented the attacks.

In a letter sent just this week, three panel members—including Intelligence Committee chairman Sen. Jay Rockefeller and ranking Republican Christopher Bond—revived the issue and asked that an executive summary of the report be declassified “without delay” and released to the public.

President Meets With Son Of 9/11 First Responder

President Meets With Son Of 9/11 First Responder

January 31, 2007

While in town to deliver a speech on the economy, President Bush held a private meeting with Ceasar Borja, Jr., the son of a 9/11 first responder who died last week waiting for a lung transplant.

Bush met with Borja Jr., who has been on a crusade in his father's name to get funding for other first responders who have become ill.

Cesar Borja, Sr. was an NYPD officer who spent countless hours at the World Trade Center site in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.

During the meeting Borja, Jr. said he asked for the federal government to completely fund any medical treatment for anyone suffering for a 9/11 related illness.

"I expressed how the funding should be expanded, not just for the heroes and heroines that were present there without hesitation, who ran to save, rescue, and ensure a future for all of the lives that they found there."

Demolition Of CUNY Building Damaged On 9/11 Prompts Health Concerns

January 31, 2007

A City University building badly damaged in the September 11th attacks is finally slated to be demolished. But residents of the community are concerned that the demolition might release toxins into the air. NY1's Lindley Pless filed the following report.

“A lot of stuff is being done with the first responders. We feel the residents are the forgotten people being left in the background,” said area resident Craig Hall. “And residents are now getting sick and we are highly concerned about that.”

At Tuesday night's public information session at the Borough of Manhattan's Community College, local residents were given a chance to speak out about their concerns that bringing down Fiterman Hall will release toxins into the air they breathe every day.

NEW YORK -- Sick 9/11 workers and residents gathered near ground zero before President Bush's speech on Wednesday to criticize as inadequate his proposal to spend an additional $25 million to fund a health care program.

About a dozen people rallied near the World Trade Center site about an hour before Bush delivered the economic speech at nearby Federal Hall.

Ceasar Borja Jr., who lost his father, a ground zero worker, last week was originally scheduled to attend the rally. But instead, he was preparing for a meeting with the president.

White House spokesman Tony Snow said Bush planned to meet privately after his speech with Borja; his mother, Eva; brother, Evan; and sister, Nhia.

"First responders who need treatment will get the treatment they need," Snow said earlier Wednesday. "Many are already covered by insurance programs, many through their union; but if there are gaps in that, we're going to do it."

Bush adds limited funding for 9/11 victims to federal budget

WASHINGTON: The Bush administration plans to keep funding health programs for sick ground zero workers, enough to keep the effort alive at least through 2007, New York lawmakers said Tuesday.

New York Rep. Vito Fossella, a Republican, said the administration next week will propose spending at least $25 million more to fund a Sept. 11-related health care program at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan and a related effort for New York firefighters.

"It's a breakthrough," said Fossella. "For the first time in the federal budget there will be a down payment to provide for funding for continued treatment and monitoring for 9/11 responders who need our help."

Word of the new money comes a day before Bush is due to speak in New York City about the economy, and sick Sept. 11 workers plan a rally timed to the visit. It is also a week before Bush offers his budget proposal to the U.S. Congress.

Indian Nationalist Party Supports 9/11 Truth

Azadi Bachao Andolan, which, according this website, is "a national movement in India to counter the onslaught of foreign multinationals and the western culture on Indians, their values, and on the Indian economy in general," recently declared that the 9/11 attacks were "stage-managed."

According to a report in The Hindu:

"The Andolan's national spokesperson, Rajiv Dixit, said at a press conference here that the U.S. Government had installed 'strategic explosives' on all floors of the twin towers and it blew up the buildings when the aircraft were about to hit them.

Mr. Dixit said the Lone Lantern Society, comprising independent researchers and peace activists, had gathered evidence to prove that 880 detonators were used to demolish the twin towers."

Giuliani starts N.H. visit, invokes 9-11

By Philip Elliott, Associated Press Writer | January 26, 2007

BRETTON WOODS, N.H. --Rudy Guiliani's visit to New Hampshire began on Friday with Girl Scout cookie orders, Sept. 11 memories and no sign that the former New York City mayor's popularity has faded.

Giuliani, a Republican who is mulling a White House run, renewed his mantle, "America's Mayor" and reminded business leaders in New Hampshire's North Country that he shepherded New York through the aftermath of Sept. 11. Even when buying cookies, a Girl Scout told him her cousin died in Iraq. Over 400 people attended the event at the Mount Washington Hotel, organizers said....

Throughout his remarks, he repeatedly returned to Sept. 11, even when mentioning immigration reform....

NEW YORK -- In a move that could rekindle a heated political debate, Fox News said Thursday that it plans to broadcast footage from ABC's controversial miniseries "The Path to 9/11" that was edited out of the docudrama amid criticism that it inaccurately portrayed the Clinton Administration's response to the terror threat.

The outtakes -- set to air this Sunday -- depict former national security advisor Samuel R. Berger refusing to approve a CIA request to attack Osama bin Laden, an event that both Berger and the Sept. 11 Commission said did not occur.

Andrew W. Marshall and the 9/11 Jedis

Andrew W. Marshall is the neoconservative director of the Office of Net Assessment, a think tank inside the Pentagon. He was appointed by Richard Nixon, but shepherded into the Pentagon by Henry Kissinger, and re-appointed by every president since. Marshall started his career with the RAND Corporation, before joining the Pentagon in 1973.

A list of Andrew Marshall's acolytes, so-called Jedi Knights, reads like a list of suspects for the attacks of 9/11. The list includes Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Richard Armitage, Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz, and Dov Zakheim. Another acolyte is James G. Roche, who served as Secretary of the Air Force from January 2001 to January 2005; before that, Roche was an executive at Northrup Grumman in the Electronic Sensors & Systems Sector.

Mayor Bloomberg defends decision not to help 9/11 first responders

The mayor was quoted as saying:

"They can say anything they want," Bloomberg said. "The Corporation Counsel is acting responsibly, protecting the interests of New York City. We're trying to make sure that we help those who really need the help."

Meanwhile, the 9/11 families are protesting Bloomberg's handling of the memorial. He refuses to list on the memorial rank and affiliation of first responders, preferring to arrange names in random order and with no identifying features.

The Psychology Behind the Denial of 9/11 Truth

A recent post at AlterNet by novelist Jane Smiley reminded me of the often strange reasons on which people base their assessment of 9/11 and whether it was an inside job. Smiley writes about the psychology of George W. Bush, and includes this passing mention of 9/11:

"At the same time, Little George has a hard time with bad news, so he was never going be told the truth -- he can't take the truth, as Jack Nicholson might say -- this is evident in the famous 9/11 film of Bush reading about his pet goat when he gets news of the WTC. Talk about dumbstruck and unprepared and feckless and doltish! No, I don't think Little George planned the Trade Center attacks. If he had, he would have practiced a smarmy fake reaction, and he didn't."

Hunt Blames JFK Hit on LBJ

I know it's a bit tangential to 9/11, but in the interest of all things security state and NWO here's a story from yesterday's NY Post. It's also noteworthy because it is yet another voice from the intelligence community giving credence to so-called conspiracy theory (i.e., for those who don't think 9/11 could have been an inside job).

HUNT BLAMES JFK HIT ON LBJ

January 14, 2007 -- E. HOWARD Hunt - the shadowy former CIA man who organized the Watergate break-in and was once eyed in the assassination of President Kennedy - bizarrely says that Lyndon Johnson could be seen as a prime suspect in the rubout.

Only the most far-out conspiracy theorists believe in scenarios like Hunt's. But in a new memoir, "American Spy: My Secret History in the CIA, Watergate & Beyond," due out in April, Hunt, 88, writes: "Having Kennedy liquidated, thus elevating himself to the presidency without having to work for it himself, could have been a very tempting and logical move on Johnson's part.

Police state apparatus continues to expand; Pentagon, CIA engaged in domestic policing

Military Expands Intelligence Role in U.S. - nytimes.com

WASHINGTON, Jan. 13 — The Pentagon has been using a little-known power to obtain banking and credit records of hundreds of Americans and others suspected of terrorism or espionage inside the United States, part of an aggressive expansion by the military into domestic intelligence gathering.

The C.I.A. has also been issuing what are known as national security letters to gain access to financial records from American companies, though it has done so only rarely, intelligence officials say.

Banks, credit card companies and other financial institutions receiving the letters usually have turned over documents voluntarily, allowing investigators to examine the financial assets and transactions of American military personnel and civilians, officials say.

Donate To The First Responders

This is Jon Gold's project, but I thought I would make a blog entry for it to bring it back to everyone's attention.

Donations seem to have stalled, and I know there are more than 20-odd people at this site, so COME ON! Let's do some good!

Trolls can criticize us for being "all talk," unless we show them that we're "all action" as well. A good way to do so involves donating some money to the ailing first responders.

Maybe the webmasters can create an entry of this for the front page every week?
