National Geographic Channel special aims to debunk

Intended to address the issues raised by people who question the official story of the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the documentary “9/11: Science and Conspiracy” probably won’t change anyone’s mind on either side.

Airing tonight, Monday, Aug. 31, at 8 p.m. on the National Geographic Channel, the two-hour program depicts several scientific experiments that have been staged to answer the major points raised by the conspiracy theorists.

The documentary, however, doesn’t feel scientific. It often falls back on standard devices to build tension: hushed narration, ominous music, quick cuts to darkened or bleached-out shots of wreckage.

The sound and look clash radically with the documentary’s purpose, making it seem like one of those old “In Search of…” shows, which were intended to question official versions of events, not support them.

With the throttle gunned and the exhaust pipes roaring, a NASCAR race car custom-painted in tribute of the 2001 terror attack victims was unveiled Monday in Manhattan near Ground Zero.

The car - a $100,000 Ford Fusion bearing the inscription "Always Remember" and a 9/11 logo for the National Sept. 11 Memorial and Museum - is competing in a Sept. 11 race at Virginia's Richmond International Raceway.

NASCAR driver Benny Gordon, who lined up corporate sponsors for the custom paint job, is racing the No. 72 car.

"It will be an honor to race a car in honor of the attack victims," said Gordon, co-owner of the North South Motorsports team based in Dubois, Pa. "I hope we have a good run."

Gordon hopes NASCAR's popularity and the themed paint job will draw more support for the planned $610-million memorial and museum.

Joe Daniels, president of the memorial and museum, said he is grateful to have Gordon's support.

"This car presents a tremendous opportunity to raise awareness about the national 9/11 memorial," he said.

I'm not sure if the topic of "what would happen after (if) a 911 cover-up/plot became exposed" has been tossed around at much length here, but I'd be certain most people here have thought about it in one way or another. While I have yet to really see much discussion on this topic, I did run across this article several weeks ago posted elsewhere, but never saw a re-posting of it anywhere. Its a bit goofy, a bit dark, and very hypothetical, but it is a seed for serious consideration and does deal with a very plausible and complicated scenario if we are ever successful with our plight for truth. Ultimately, I would agree with the conclusion of the article that it is something which should be openly discussed because it may be why so many are turned off/unable to accept any investigation.

(also, there is a link in the sidebar there to a poem called "September 1, 1939". It is indeed quite creepy to see how history is repeating itself. I remember first hearing this poem way back in High School, and then again on NPR (I think) soon after 9/11/2001 in a WTC memorial broadcast. It is definitely worth a sobering read as well)
