'Green Jobs' Adviser's Past Could Stir Trouble for White House at Critical Time
President Obama's "green jobs" adviser could become a mounting liability for the Obama administration, as the latest revelation about Van Jones shows his belief that the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks may have been an inside job.
Jones joined the "9/11 truther" movement by signing a statement in 2004 calling for then-New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer and others to launch an investigation into evidence that suggests "people within the current administration may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war."
The statement asked a series of critical questions hinting at Bush administration involvement in the attacks and called for "deeper inquiry." It was also signed by former Rep. Cynthia McKinney and Code Pink co-founder Jodie Evans.
The discovery comes after Jones had to apologize Wednesday night for "offensive words" he uttered in February when he called Republicans "assholes." He said the remarks "do not reflect the views of this administration" and its bipartisan aims.
But such statements just scratch the surface of Jones' past commentary.
The Siege

Recently I saw the motion picture The Siege (1998), starring Denzel Washington and Bruce Willis. For those who haven’t seen it. The movie is about a wave of terror attacks in New York by Islamic fundamentalist, and is lead by a Sheik called Ahmed Bin Talal. As the terror attacks continue, the US government responds by declaring martial law, sending US troops, into the streets of New York City.
Terror attacks, Islamic fundamentalist, New York and a Sheik with ‘Bin’ in the name. One can’t help start thinking about the tragic events of 9/11. So during the movie I began to wonder… who wrote the script of the movie? So I visited the Internet Movie Database website to find out.

Another Icon Debased in Service of the Big Lie

By now it's quite predictable: every year as the anniversary of the attack approaches, some of the most established mainstream media brands are pressed into service to sell the official story of 9/11.
The 2009 iteration of this spectacle is notable for the contrast between the designated brand and the obligatory message. That brand, best known for its high-brow photojournalistic National Geographic Magazine, has existed since 1889, complete with a non-profit Society dedicated to education in geography, archaeology, history, world cultures, and natural science. One can't help but wonder how National Geographic's many benefactors would feel if they understood how the brand was being used to prop up the "War on Terror" with its Popular-Mechanics-style attack piece to be aired on August 31, 2009.
A web feature on the website of the National Geographic Channel provides a preview of the show and a window into the methods and goals of the show's producers. Those methods are so heavy-handed that the critical reader can't help but see that those goals are something very different from educating. As an exercise, the reader might want to read the one-page feature first, and then compare notes with my analysis of it below.

Major news suppression: ALL government cost studies show sheltering the homeless is most cost-effective

The US Interagency Council on Homelessness has found that all cost-benefit analyses show that paying for the homeless to have minimal housing, food, health care, and job counseling costs less than public costs of their street life. The greatest savings come from decreased emergency room visits, police calls, and court time. What isn't counted, and significant, is the increase of business in areas where the homeless are vagrants. In addition, these studies show most of these participants find jobs and leave these programs.
As always, please share this with all who say they want to be responsible citizens.

Monetary reform would have prevented Los Angeles fires (and all other economic problems)

AP reported that federal funding ran out before thousands of highly flammable brush from Los Angeles mountains was cleared to prevent catastrophic fire. Monetary reform would have fully funded all needed public services and programs and prevented this disaster.
"Monetary reform" is the most-used title to take the power of creating money away from banks and return it back to government, as authorized in the US Constitution under Article 1 Section 8 to "coin money and regulate the value thereof." With this monetary system, government can respond to market failure employment and be the employer of last resort. Those who are unemployed can work on government projects, such as brush clearance, with money created directly by the government. The cost-benefit analysis in this example of fire prevention is clearly positive for the public good.
