Stunning Statistics About the War Every American Should Know

Contrary to popular belief, the US actually has 189,000 personnel on the ground in Afghanistan right now—and that number is quickly rising.

A hearing in Sen. Claire McCaskill's Contract Oversight subcommittee on contracting in Afghanistan has highlighted some important statistics that provide a window into the extent to which the Obama administration has picked up the Bush-era war privatization baton and sprinted with it. Overall, contractors now comprise a whopping 69% of the Department of Defense's total workforce, "the highest ratio of contractors to military personnel in US history." That's not in one war zone-that's the Pentagon in its entirety.

Let’s define “political conservative,” view current US wars through that lens, and determine appropriate war policy if conservatism is to be honored.

Respecting law and order, the US Constitution, and inalienable rights for equal opportunity.
Self-reliance and personal responsibility.
Minimal government intervention for maximum freedom and minimal tax cost.

Law and order is the foundation of society; not much can be accomplished or enjoyed without it. Being American is a political distinction; it literally means citizenry under US and Constitutional law. Conservatives look to teamwork in complex projects and are adamant about personal responsibility for individual performance and cooperation within the law. Government provides law and order, but in a minimal way to maximize our freedom and personal income.

Aircraft Parts as a Clue to their Identity

The precautionary principle is based on the fact it is impossible to prove a false claim. Failure to prove a claim does not automatically make it false, but caution is called for, especially in the case of a world-changing event like the alleged terror attacks of September 11, 2001. The Bush administration has provided no public evidence to support its claim that the terror attacks were the work of Muslim extremists or even that the aircraft that struck their respective targets on September 11 were as advertised. As I will show below, it would be a simple matter to confirm that they were - if they were. Until such proof is forthcoming, the opposite claim must be kept in mind as a precaution against rushing to judgment: the 911 hijackings were part of a black operation carried out with the cooperation of elements in our government.
