Did Osama bin Laden Confess to the 9/11 Attacks, and Did He Die, in 2001?

In 2009, I published a little book entitled Osama bin Laden: Dead or Alive?1 Much evidence, I showed, suggested that Osama bin Laden had died on or about December 13, 2001. (Although this book was ignored by the US press, it received major reviews in British newspapers,2 and it even provided the basis for a BBC special.3) Pointing out that the only evidence to the contrary consists of “messages from bin Laden” in the form of audiotapes and videotapes that have appeared since 2001, I devoted one chapter to an examination of the most important of these tapes, showing that none are demonstrably authentic and that some are almost certainly fakes.

MONTREAL — Three Canadian universities will be used as a venue for a speaking tour by prominent 9-11 skeptics.

Americans Richard Gage and David Ray Griffin dispute the conventional wisdom that foreign terrorists linked to al-Qaida brought down the Twin Towers on Sept. 11, 2001.

They will give lectures at the University of Toronto, Carleton University and the University of Quebec in Montreal over the coming days.

Faculty members at the Montreal university told a city newspaper they are upset the institution is being used for the event.

One says it harms the school’s credibility.

1984 And The Allegory of the Cave

Some philosophical work is so profound as to be influential for thousands of years. Plato's The Republic is one such series of dialogues. It explains and explores the relationship between state institutions and individuals. One of the central dialogues is called the Allegory of the Cave. Socrates speaks with a fellow philosopher and proposes that what people take to be reality in total is only a partial reality or an all out illusion.

Socrates begins "let me show you in a figure how far our nature is enlightened or unenlightened Behold! human beings living in an underground cave." As all like philosophy, the Allegory is layered, but it is partially about seeking individual knowledge and perspective.

In the Allegory most people are chained in the cave and forced to watch images on a cave wall. The images are cast by the controllers of the cave who use a fire behind them to produce shadows. The prisoners interpret the shadows and whatever noises are made as reality in total, for it is all they know. There are other prisoners in the cave who are unchained, but are so transfixed with the imagery on the wall that the shadows are all they see.

One of the principal voices of the 9/11 Truth Movement will make his way to Webster University on Thursday, April 29. Conspiracy theorist, David Ray Griffin, will present "Is the War in Afghanistan Justified by 9/11?" in the Winifred Moore Auditorium at 7 p.m.

"I hope students will come to see that the official story about 9/11, which has led to the killing of millions of Iraqis and Afghanis and otherwise so changed our world for the worse, is false," Griffin said. "Not merely possibly false, but definitely, provably false."

Dan Hellinger, a professor of political science, teaches a senior seminar on conspiracy theory and elected to invite Griffin to WU for the discussion.

"Griffin has become a leading spokesperson for the 9/11 Truth Movement, which holds that the official account of 9/11 cannot be reconciled with the facts," Hellinger said. "In the mainstream media, Griffin and the movement are often called 'conspiracy theorists,' with a clearly disparaging connotation."
