Hindsight and dealing with 9/11

Comment in today's UK London Evening Standard by Sam Leith, thought I would share.

"Ten years on from the horror of 9/11, I find myself returning to a counterfactual that has preoccupied me on and off ever sice. A thought experiment: what if, instead of responding as they did, the US had made the ultimate gesture of a hyperpower's self-confidence and simply turned the other cheek?

If they'd mourn their dead, rebuit the city, and treated the murders as a police matter - a grotesque crime rather than a military or political statement worthy of a response in kind?

Would it really have encouraged al-Qaeda? Or would it rather have made them seem vicious and small? And would the world, on balance, have been a better and safer place 10 years on than it is now? It's an open question - but I strongly suspect that it would."

Guest host John B. Wells was joined by award-winning investigative reporter Russ Baker for a discussion on why so many unanswered questions linger about what exactly happened ten years ago on September 11th.

Millennial Math: 9+11=1984

This is an article published yesterday on Common Dreams by Randall Amster. The comments posted on the thread are already pretty good but it wouldn't hurt to express more disgust to Common Dreams and also this author for such a hit piece.

COMMON DREAMS- It’s been a decade since the day that changed everything -- or at least, the one that finally laid it all bare. Over the years, I’ve tried to confront it, rewrite it, debunk it, historicize it, mock it, and ultimately ignore it, all to no avail. It’s not going anywhere, this Trojan Horse of the new millennium, this farce that launched a thousand ships. We’re stuck with it, even though no matter how we crunch the numbers it still doesn’t really add up. Or does it?

As people across Canada and the United States publicly remembered the tenth anniversary of 9/11 this week, a small group at Ryerson University were examining another angle altogether: the “myth” of 9/11. The four-day Toronto Hearings kicked off Thursday with a trio of experts and academics offering their opinions on why the official narrative of 9/11 as a terrorist attack is flawed. The Post’s Megan O’Toole looks at the day’s highlights.

10th Anniversary 9/11 Truth Hit Piece Roundup

So much space devoted to mindless, dismissive ridicule and hand-waving, so little time devoted to any kind of investigative journalism. If you're a glutton for punishment or just want a handy compilation of the corporate media's extreme bias and neglect of duty, this one's for you. More than thirty 10th anniversary hit pieces in one place...

http://911truthnews.com/10th-anniversary-911-truth-hit-piece-roundup

With little regard for those family members who question the official account of the 9/11 attacks, mainstream media news outlets have published over 30 inaccurate, derogatory, and stereotyping hit pieces in the 2 weeks leading up to the tenth anniversary of the attacks. Among the articles there are many common themes, sources, logical fallacies and insults. The mainstream media has offered an unprecedented level of apparent bias against reasonable people invested in justice for the victims of 9/11.

Experts Speak Out Abbreviated Remix Video

http://www.archive.org/details/EvidenceOfWorldTradeCenterDemolition-ExpertsInterviewed

This is my suggestion for a 40 minute remix edit of 911 Explosive Evidence: Experts Speak Out.

The official pre-release version is over 2 hours long and contains redundant material.

AE911Truth plans on releasing their final, high quality DVD in October. I URGE YOU TO BUY IT WHEN IT IS RELEASED.

My edited remix includes low quality footage of Steven Jones from the San Francisco press conference, where he describes the red-gray chips. I hope the editors of the final DVD release decide to include the original footage.

Plaintiff’s Opening Brief Before U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals for FBI 9/11 Records

On September 6, 2011, the appellant’s opening brief was entered before the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in the matter of Monaghan v. Department of Justice, dismissed earlier this year by the U.S. District Court of Nevada. This action seeks the release of numerous FBI records regarding the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, including the actual audio recording obtained from the cockpit-voice-recorder for United Airlines Flight 93, plus Pentagon and Shanksville, PA crash scene evidence collection records.

Much thanks to those who have generously donated to this effort.

Why I became a September 11 truther

On this sad anniversary of the worst terrorist attack in post-war history I am reminded of the prophetic words spoken by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in his farewell address to the nation in 1961: “In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist”.

Eisenhower was the supreme commander in western Europe who had led America to victory against one of the most evil regimes in history, a man who had witnessed the depths of human depravity, and wanted finally to warn us that the war machine which had been created to defend freedom in WWII could equally be used for the opposite purpose, and that it was up to the American people to guard against this possibility.

Eisenhower coined the phrase “military industrial complex” which became the catch-cry of the anti-war movement of the 1960s, describing an economic and political fusion of power involving armaments manufacturers, construction companies, banks, democratic governments and puppet dictatorships.

As Marine Major General Smedley Butler put it, “War is a Racket”. In his seminal book on the subject Butler declares, “I spent 33 years in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. Looking back on it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints.”

These and other observations about the racketeering, lying and theft that is the essence of war have informed many of us around the world who today call ourselves “9/11 truthers”.
