ACLU Urges Supreme Court to Review Case of FBI Whistleblower

The American Civil Liberties Union today urged the U.S. Supreme Court to review a lower court's dismissal of the case of Sibel Edmonds, a former FBI translator who was fired in retaliation for reporting security breaches and possible espionage within the Bureau. Lower courts dismissed the case when former Attorney General John Ashcroft invoked the rarely used "state secrets" privilege.

EDIT: This is definitely big news. While it is not directly related to 9/11, it does show proof to larger scale corruption in the FBI which is allowed to exist while the whistleblowers are fired and punished. Definitely worth the read, albeit a very long one.

Second, a recording from the D.C. Truth Emergency rally was broadcast today on Guns and Butter. You can find the recording on their archives page under August 3rd, or access the MP3 directly here. This recording includes the following speakers: David Ray Griffin, Peter Dale Scott, Ray McGovern, Morgan Reynolds, and others.

The owner of flight77.info has posted the response from the government to his FOIA request for the confiscated videotapes showing Flight 77 hitting the pentagon.

Apparently the government is claiming that releasing these videos would interfere with the prosecution of Zacarias Moussaoui. I'm not exactly sure how releasing a video could interfere with that court case if what is contained on the video is the same as the official story.

Is this really a valid reason not to release the video footage to the public?

Some of you probably are aware that the owner of flight77.info had filed a Freedom of Information Act(FOIA) request for the videos of Flight 77 which were quickly confiscated on 9/11. These videos are known to exist and have been confiscated from the onsite gas station as well as a nearby hotel. Oddly enough the 9/11 Commission says that it saw no need to subpoena these videos. The deadline for the next action in this case was 7/31, however since that fell on a weekend they have until midnight tonight to issue a response to his lawyer.

In any event, I will keep checking his site in hopes that at least something new will come down the pipes tonight. Feel free to check out the previously posted legal documents if you haven't already.

9/11 was an extremely pivotal event in the establishment of a Neoconservative America. It started one morning when four (4) planes were hijacked..... And from all accounts, it was an open and shut case. Although there was no 'half-naked person cowering behind the wreckage,' like the Reichstag's Van der Lubbe, there was, within a few days following the hijackings, amazingly detailed dossiers on each of the hijackers. Luckily, each of the hijackers left copies of the Koran, box cutters, and aircraft piloting manuals in the trunk of their rental cars parked at the airport. But even more amazing, on September 12, Senator Orrin Hatch said "the US was monitoring bin Laden supporters and overheard them discussing the attack." (Somehow, this little tidbit has always been lost in the shuffle. I wonder 'why'?).

I have to marvel at how the corporate media, and the various government and quasi-government bodies that investigated or are investigating 9-11, have ignored curious things involving the Bush family.

The one that has me most stunned right now is the information dug up and actually published (in the Prince George's Journal of Prince George, MD) way back on Feb. 4, 2003, reporting that George Bush's obscure youngest brother Marvin was on the board of directors of a company called Securacom (now changed to Stratesec) that was responsible for providing "electronic security" to the World Trade Center right up to 9/11/2001.
