WASHINGTON, D.C.—On the first anniversary of the 9/11 Commission Report, family members and experts challenged its veracity and comprehensiveness at hearings convened by Cynthia McKinney (D-Ga.) on July 22.
Congresswoman McKinney set the tone by reminding the assembled citizens and media in the stately Cannon Office Building hearing room of administration’s opposition to the commission, of the conflicts of interest among its members and of the omissions in the report. Many of the alleged hijackers are alive in Saudi Arabia, Morocco and Egypt, she said, yet the report failed to mention this. She lamented that the report did not cover the final $100,000 payment to hijacker Mohamed Atta from Saeed Sheikh or Bin Laden’s connection with the mujaheddin. Much “inconvenient information†was left out of the report, she said. Co-chair the 9/11 Family Steering Committee, Lorie Van Auken, whose husband died in the World Trade Center, shattered the notion that the report is an accurate account by presenting numerous cases where it is suspect, such as the three-minute discrepancy with the seismic record of the flight 93 crash and the failure to investigate the claim by the administration spokesman that there were no warnings when in fact there were many. The report somehow skipped over the FBI’s thwarting of a request to search Zacorais Moussaoui’s computer by editing the request and finally blocking it. According to Van Auken, the so-called Reno Wall excuse for this was unjustified and an FBI lawyer who looked into the affair had never seen a refusal for a search request such as this. Moreover, the FBI official responsible for blocking the request, David Frasca, was rewarded with a promotion and large financial bonus.
Just uploaded a new track entitled 'You Lied' from 'Away With the Fairys'. It is a 7+ minute song that covers a bunch of subjects including 9/11. It is quite an impressive song. You can check out the lyrics here, and you can download the MP3 in the topic linked above. Definitely worth the listen.
The Pentagon, acting under instructions from Vice President Dick Cheney's office, has tasked the United States Strategic Command (STRATCOM) with drawing up a contingency plan to be employed in response to another 9/11-type terrorist attack on the United States. The plan includes a large-scale air assault on Iran employing both conventional and tactical nuclear weapons. Within Iran there are more than 450 major strategic targets, including numerous suspected nuclear-weapons-program development sites. Many of the targets are hardened or are deep underground and could not be taken out by conventional weapons, hence the nuclear option. As in the case of Iraq, the response is not conditional on Iran actually being involved in the act of terrorism directed against the United States. Several senior Air Force officers involved in the planning are reportedly appalled at the implications of what they are doing--that Iran is being set up for an unprovoked nuclear attack--but no one is prepared to damage his career by posing any objections.

Letters | ROVE OPENED PANDORA'S BOX ON CAUSES OF 9/11 - Philadelphia Daily News
KARL ROVE did a dumb thing when he recently said that Democrats wanted to provide therapy and understanding to the 9/11 "attackers" while Republicans prepared for war. His ignorant, smoke-screen remark has allowed the book of "Official Story of the Sept. 11 Attacks" to be reopened.
Why did the Secret Service allow Bush to remain at Booker Elementary? There was an airport five miles from the school; did they just join hands and pray that no plane was hijacked from there?
Remember the "Jersey Girls?" That's a phrase we haven't heard in a while, a reference to several New Jersey-based widows who lost their husbands in the attack on the World Trade Center on 9/11. They were ordinary apolitical suburbanites, mostly with Republican leanings, who did an extraordinary thing in questioning the Administration's version of the attack and demanding that their government do so as well.
Its now been a year since that Commission finally led by former Republican New Jersey Governor Thomas Kean, and co-chaired by former Democratic Congressman Lee Hamilton, published its best-selling and novel-like report offering up an official conspiracy theory naming the Osama bin Laden run Al Qaeda as the solo perpetrators.
House Hearing on anniversary of 911 Report - Wayne Madsen
House Hearing on anniversary of 911 Report -- Representative Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) chaired a 9-hour hearing in the Cannon House Office Building on the anniversary of the release of the widely-criticized 911 Commission Report. Witnesses, including 911 family members, former intelligence officers, former diplomats, politicians, academicians, and legal experts were uniform in their contention that the 911 Commission was deeply flawed and its report failed to address why 911 occurred. A number of the Commission members had major conflicts of interest. The Executive Staff Director Phillip Zelikow is a long-time Republican activist with close ties to Condoleezza Rice and the right-wing funded Miller Institute. The Commission was also criticized for focusing more on increased authorities for intelligence and law enforcement and intelligence restructuring than on the events of 911 and past U.S. policy in the Middle East and South Asia that led up to the 911 attacks.

I get lots of email from people who want me to post articles that are not directly related to 9/11. A lot of these emails are quite valid, and important, but I do not feel they should be a part of this site's articles. I do however think having open threads for these issues is very valid.
Feel free to post information and links related to what you think is important now, no matter how it might, or might not, be tied to 9/11.
There seems to be no set criteria for dismissing information as a foolish conspiracy theory. The only prerequisite for information to be so categorize seems to be the desire to reject it. The reason for the rejection does not seem to matter. It appears that anything people do not want to believe is simply set aside as not believable.
It's time to put an end to this nonsense once and for all. It's also time dispense with the name calling and understand the dynamics of what is happening when new information is rejected. We have to deal with the resistance to any tampering with accepted "truths." And we have to find ways to convince people to seriously consider the new information, new discoveries if you will - that so many refuse, under any circumstances, to acknowledge.
Just noticed that innworldreport.net has posted their latest show. It contains a segment on the 9/11 Congressional Briefing - The 9/11 Commission Report One Year Later.
You can find the link to the video on their front page, or you can directly download the flash file here (SWF 70mb).
This is just a highlight video, not the whole thing.
EDIT: the video freezes during Paul Thompson's segment, but the audio continues. I have contacted INN to see if I might be able to get a copy of the whole thing, keep your fingers crossed.

Washington - Revisiting the issue that helped spur her ouster from Congress three years ago, Rep. Cynthia McÂÂKinney led a Capitol Hill hearing Friday on whether the Bush administration was involved in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
The eight-hour hearing, timed to mark the first anniversary of the release of the Sept. 11 commission's report on the attacks, drew dozens of contrarians and conspiracy theorists who suggest President Bush purposely ignored warnings or may even have had a hand in the attack - claims participants said the commission ignored.
Today marked the one year anniversary of the release of the 9/11 Commission Report. As such two major events occurred today focused on the discussion of 9/11.
The first of these events was a day long congressional hearing hosted by Rep. Cynthia McKinney. Entitled The 9/11 Commission Report One Year Later: A Citizens' Response - Did They Get It Right?, this event hosted many family members of those that died on 9/11 as well as research experts who have struggled to find the truth surrounding the events of 9/11.
Forwarded upon request of the office of Congresswoman McKinney (D-GA)
