ACLU Challenges Government’s Use of Secrecy to Avoid Accountability in National Security Whistleblower Case
here is a follow up article from today about Sibel Edmonds' case which is being held in private.

"The Justice Department’s own Inspector General has now concluded publicly that the FBI fired Edmonds for reporting agency misconduct," said Ann Beeson, Associate Legal Director of the ACLU, who argued on behalf of Edmonds today. "Clearly the FBI is using secrecy not to protect national security but to avoid accountability for its own mistakes."

Several 9/11 family member advocacy groups have signed on to a friend-of-the-court brief in support of Sibel Edmonds. Advocates say that if government employees do not report misconduct or security breaches for fear of retaliation, then national security suffers. That brief, along with other legal documents and background materials, is available online at www.aclu.org/whistleblowers.

For example, George W. Bush spoke of the heroic actions of the passengers and crew aboard United Flight 93 over rural Pennsylvania on the morning of 9-11. However, NSA personnel on duty at the NSOC that morning have a very different perspective. Before Flight 93 crashed in Pennsylvania, NSA operations personnel clearly heard on the intercom system monitoring military and civilian communications that the "fighters are engaged" with the doomed United aircraft. NSOC personnel were then quickly dismissed from the tactical area of the NSOC where the intercom system was located leaving only a few senior personnel in place. NSA personnel are well aware that Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld did not "misspeak" when, addressing U.S. troops in Baghdad during Christmas last year, said, "the people who attacked the United States in New York, shot down the plane over Pennsylvania." They believe the White House concocted the "passengers-bring-down-plane" story for propaganda value.

this is a rather random press release about a new book called 'A Real 9/11 Commission' by Paul J. Landis.. i am unfamiliar with this author or his previous work.. apparently his book focuses on the pentagon, how the planes which hit the WTC had no windows, and other such theories.. if anyone is familiar with this person's work please let me know.
