Alternet Discusses Conspiracies and 9/11
Decoding the Secrets of JFK and 9/11 - Alternet.org
But have the dots been connected? Has the conspiracy behind 9/11 been decoded?
Bush evinces no doubt. "We now know," he says, "that two of the hijackers in the United States placed telephone calls to Al Qaida operatives overseas. But we did not know about their plans until it was too late."
In a nutshell, in his State of the Union speech, Bush presented the official version of 9/11. Through a combination of incompetence and complacency, and the cunning of a determined enemy, the sworn guardians of the American people were "too late" to stop a conspiracy that resulted in a devastating attack. Were they?
..
There are of course many puzzling circumstances surrounding the 9/11 attacks, virtually all of them compiled and analyzed in a recent book by two British authors, "9/11 Revealed: The Unanswered Questions." In their skillful survey of "alternative scenarios," Rowland Morgan and Ian Henshall sow many doubts about the official version of 9/11. How did so many of the hijackers gain valid entry into the U.S? Why were they so free to operate? Why were the country's air defenses not triggered after the hijacked planes veered off course? In what ways did the Pakistani and Saudi governments assist the hijackers? Were the hijackers in the U.S. for another purpose and then double-crossed their U.S. sponsors in a classic, if horrible, case of blowback? While these and other questions raise doubts about the official version of 9/11, they don't yet add up to a persuasive counterconspiracy theory.

Great job!!!
I read that article. A close
I read that article.
A close examination of it, to me, appears a hatchet job on those of us who do not swallow the 911 neocon koolaid.
Go read his description of those that believe in "Conspiracy Theories", see the label he places on us (like all good disinformation agents do), then decide for yourself.
Me? I was insulted, I usually enjoy Alternet, I get it regurlarly in my inbox.

Although I read Alternet on
Although I read Alternet on a fairly regular basis, I'm not surprised at the mealy-mouthed nature of the article.
After all, shortly after 9/11 they posted an article that said not to entertain conspiracy theories (IIRC it was a repost from Z Mag). Maybe at least some of the staffers/writers are starting to shake of the fog of shock (which takes a collective population much longer than a lone individual).
Although purely annecdotal, it seems that there's a growing doubt about 9/11 simmering below the surface. Although still not "mainstream", I take heart in my supposition that if this had occured 25 years ago, without the instantaneous communication afforded by the internet, that we'd still collectively be at February 6th 2002 in our understanding.
