Two Nut Jobs and a Boeing 747 - Another Day in the Empire

One of the most obvious lies in the show trial of Zacarias Moussaoui came when a court-appointed physician, Dr. Raymond Patterson, declared Moussaoui was not suffering from mental illness. Patterson made the assertion after Moussaoui said he wanted to fire his lawyers and represent himself. Moussaoui’s lawyers 'became convinced that their client’s mental condition, already precarious, was deteriorating under the stress of solitary confinement, and that he was becoming increasingly paranoid,' writes Seymour Hersh for the New Yorker. In response to Patterson’s assertion that Moussaoui was sane enough to present his own defense, two 'mental-health experts retained by the defense, Dr. Xavier Amador, of Columbia University, and Dr. William Stejskal, of the University of Virginia, argued that Patterson’s conclusions were unfounded and that Moussaoui needed further evaluation.' Judge Brinkema did not agree and ruled from the bench on June 13th, 2002, without hearing testimony, 'that the defendant met the legal standard of competency.'

In fact, Zacarias Moussaoui is a stark raving lunatic, given to paranoid outbursts in the courtroom, and he was deemed sane for the simple reason that the government needs a conviction to prop up its ludicrous whitewash commission fairy tale about 'al-Qaeda' cave dwellers attacking America on September 11, 2001.

But the paramount absurdity is Moussaoui’s claim he plotted to hijack an airplane with Richard Reid (aka Abdul Raheem or Abu Ibrahim), a certifiable mental case and not the sharpest knife in the drawer now serving three life sentences in the ADX Florence, a Supermax prison in Florence, Colorado. Reid of course attempted to blow up his shoes (containing plastic explosive with a triacetone triperoxide detonator) on American Airlines Flight 63 going from Paris’ Charles De Gaulle International Airport to Miami International Airport.

Simply put, both Zacarias Moussaoui and Richard Reid are patsies, two doltish fall guys provided to put a sinister (if pathetic) face on the beast our government and corporate media call 'al-Qaeda.' It was never intended that Moussaoui see the cockpit of a commercial airliner and if indeed 'al-Qaeda' had wanted to blow up American Airlines Flight 63 over the Atlantic Ocean, they would not have selected a bumbling petty criminal such as Richard Reid to accomplish the task.

In his testimony yesterday, Moussaoui said he knew in August 2001 that the attacks were imminent, and he had bought a radio so he could hear them unfold. But, while he has admitted membership of al-Qaida and receiving flight training - and told the court yesterday he was acquainted with a dozen of the 19 hijackers - he has always said he was not a part of that particular plot.

One of the major assertions by the mainstream media coverage today was that Moussaoui was 'acquainted with a dozen of the 19 hijackers', this statement does not pass the smell test.

It has been well documented that at least 6 of the hijackers are still alive. Sure, this could just be a case of mistaken identity, or stolen passports, etc. but in conjunction with the following statement from Robert Mueller - Director of the FBI - it becomes more clear that the identities of the hijackers isn't even known by U.S. Intelligence:

The hijackers also left no paper trail. In our investigation, we have not uncovered a single piece of paper either here in the U.S. or in the treasure trove of information that has turned up in Afghanistan and elsewhere that mentioned any aspect of the September 11th plot.

Unfortunately the media doesn't have the ability to clarify with Moussaoui as to which dozen of the hijackers he recognized, not that they would. Given the probabilities, it is at least possible that 12 of the 19 people he claims he recognizes were not part of the 6 that have been proven to be alive, but it isn't a very good probability. It is more likely that Moussaoui is so far off the deep end that he would say whatever he needs to get his trial over with, and be killed, which is almost completely certain.

I would hope that the judge of the trial might delay the inevitable and have Moussaoui provide further details as to which hijackers he claims to be familiar with. If any of those that he claims to recognize are of the 6 which are still alive, then it should be pretty obvious that he is doing whatever it takes so that he might be killed, and be a martyr in his own mind - as scrambled as it may be. It would also keep this trial from continuing the unfounded '19 hijackers' official story.

Did Moussaoui recognize these accused hijackers?
Because they are still alive.

P.S. Thanks to the 9/11 Commission for not even mentioning that the identities of the '19 hijackers' were anything but certain, and for continuing to blame 6 innocent (and still alive) people.
