David Ray Griffin in a Northern California publication which caters to the wine and cheese crowd.
People were hearing his message--the essentials of which are that our government likely knew about or had something to do with the 9-11 attacks--and yet there was something about his delivery that was reassuring. I've heard David Ray Griffin twice since then, once at a small gathering of world government advocates, the other time at the prestigious Commonwealth Club in San Francisco. Each event had a similar ambiance: a calm, thoughtful, scholarly presentation without the least hint of sensationalism or personal glory.
Whatever one's assumption of what a "conspiracy theorist" is like, David Ray Griffin doesn't fit the mold, perhaps because he's really a nonconspiracy theorist. While he methodically deconstructs the official story, he doesn't spin his own alternative yarn to fill the vacuum. Instead, he allows audience members to draw their own conclusions. As for conspiracy theories, he explains, "the official story is itself a conspiracy theory. As the accepted 'conspiracy theory' goes, a cadre of al Qaida operatives conspired to hijack four jetliners, did so undetected and were able to complete their mission with no interception or even interference from the best-prepared air force on the face of the earth."
..
Other than standing for his faith, what does Griffin hope to accomplish by exposing the 9-11 story as a lie? As an advocate for a worldwide democratic order, he sees this story as an example of "governmental lawlessness" so egregious that its exposure could call into question the continuation of the present system with its "anarchical competition between nation states." First, however, people must be willing to think the unthinkable, and to be willing to look at the evidence that it is our own nation that has become the evil empire.

We need a thread that concentrates entirely on the signs of success in the 9/11 movement and the world as a whole. We need to keep our fellow troops who lose faith on a positive upbeat path.

Wow. Some of you have been searching for the "ice breaker" to introduce the topic of 9/11 to both the non-believers and the ignorant. This article by Steve Bhaerman is absolutely excellent. I am presently in the process of sending it to a young woman who actually has the naivete to say she is a neocon (I think she has no idea what a neocon really is, as compared to "normal" republicans). I am also sending her links to "What's the Truth?" and "Loose Change 2E," as well as Griffin's lecture, "9/11 and the American Empire: A Christian Critique."
She says she is a person of strong religious faith, but is also open minded enough (her statement) to take philosophy classes without it "threatening" her beliefs. I am asking her which is more important to her, her religion or her belief in neocon political philosophy. I tell her that if she truly has an open mind, she will read the article about a retired professor of theology who has written and lectured extensively on the neocons. Once she has read that, she should watch the videos and listen to the lecture.

SB article is very well written and a great introduction to the two holy books, NPH and 9/11 Omissions.

I was only half finished
I was only half finished reading the Griffin article when I wrote my previous comment. Now that I have finished it, I must say that is utterly amazing first-class journalism of the sort that has been long missing from the American mainstream media. It is thoroughly well researched and written and is presented in a very scholarly manner. There are none of the typical (almost requisite) dismissive, distancing hints/insults by the author of insanity, or "conspiracy nut" status. In fact, he immediately goes completely out of his way to differentiate Griffin from typical "conspiracy nuts." Because of that fact, as one reads the article, he/she cannot escape from the fact that the author considers Griffin a real, no-nonsense scholar and investigator.
This is easily the best mainstream article on 9/11 I have ever read.

To the Editor,
Thank you for publishing the wonderful and courageous article about David Ray Griffin.
Until I read an article of his back in February, I accepted the myth of 9/11 (with the exception that the government had no foreknowledge). Griffin's articles and books put me on the path of researching 9/11 for myself.
Thanks to the work of people such as BYU physicist Steven Jones, and documentaries such as 911 Revisited and 9/11 Eyewitness, it's clear that the available evidence doesn't support the government's story.
Dr. Griffin is an amazing human being, and his efforts are an invaluable contribution to the future of our country.
Sincerely,
Mike

Thanks. Yes, I love putting people between rocks and hard places like that. It's always been one of my favorite tactics. I often mull over subjects for hours or days trying to think of a way to accomplish it, but this one was just too easy. ;-)

She's not a friend. She is a blogger whom I found through another blogger. Her blatant statement of being a necon, right in her title header, made me want to scream.
It may be too late to send her anything else now. She may immediately delete anything she gets from me from now on. Only time will tell.

LOL, DRG is such a gift to our nation:
Does he feel in danger? "Well," he jokes, "there are two possibilities. Either they leave me alone, or they take me out. If they leave me alone, I get to enjoy my old age and write my systematic theology. If they take me out, my 9-11 books go right to the top of the New York Times bestseller list. So it's a win-win situation."
My guess is that when Ms.
My guess is that when Ms. McKinney took her brave stance on 9/11, she & her family were set-up for all sorts of covert harassment. The security-guard confrontation was a last straw, so she snapped, & they embellished the incident.
They probably bargained not to indict McKinney & agreed to back-off the other harassment if McKinney agreed to back-off certain "issues." I can't blame her. She already did a lot for 9/11 truth.

Yes, yes, YES!!! No offense to Griffin, but this was the best goddamned article I've EVER read in a mainstream (or near-mainstream) media publication. And I've read 'em all, believe me. Even the NY Mag piece pales in comparison to this one. 911 Blogger should post a permalink to this article and mirror it here, just in case it gets pulled. I've already sent it to a family member who's been referring to themselves as a neocon since the late 90's. This is definitely "The One" to send to the uninitiated.
