Lawyers say NSA approached AT&T pre 9/11

Spy Agency Sought U.S. Call Records Before 9/11, Lawyers Say

June 30 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. National Security Agency asked AT&T Inc. to help it set up a domestic call monitoring site seven months before the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, lawyers claimed June 23 in court papers filed in New York federal court...

"The Bush Administration asserted this became necessary after 9/11," plaintiff's lawyer Carl Mayer said in a telephone interview. "This undermines that assertion."...

Sergeant Ali Mohamed and U.S. Intelligence Links to the Al Qaeda Leadership
The Report describes Ali Mohamed as “a former Egyptian army officer who had moved to the United States in the mid-1980s, enlisted in the U.S. Army, and become an instructor at Fort Bragg,” as well as helping to plan the bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Kenya (68). In fact Ali Mohamed was an important al Qaeda agent who, as the 9/11 Commission was told, "trained most of al Qaeda's top leadership," including "persons who would later carry out the 1993 World Trade Center bombing."[25] But the person telling the 9/11 Commission this, U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald, misrepresented Ali Mohamed’s FBI relationship. He told the Commission that, "From 1994 until his arrest in 1998, [Mohamed] lived as an American citizen in California, applying for jobs as an FBI translator and working as a security guard for a defense contractor."[26]

Ali Mohamed was not just an FBI job applicant. Unquestionably he was an FBI informant, from at least 1993 and maybe 1989.[27] And almost certainly he was something more. A veteran of the CIA-trained bodyguards of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, he was able, despite being on a State Department Watch List, to come to America around 1984, on what an FBI consultant has called “a visa program controlled by the CIA”, and obtain a job, first as a security officer, then with U.S. Special Forces.[28] In 1988 he took a lengthy leave of absence from the U.S. Army and went to fight in Afghanistan, where he met with Ayman al-Zawahiri (later bin Laden’s chief deputy in al Qaeda) and the “Arab Afghan” leadership.[29] Despite this, he was able to receive an Honorable Discharge one year later, at which point he established close contact with bin Laden in Afghanistan.

Ali Mohamed clearly enjoyed U.S. protection: in 1993, when detained by the RCMP in Canada, a single phone call to the U.S. secured his release. This enabled him to play a role, in the same year, in planning the bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Kenya in 1998.[30]

Congress should determine the true relationship of the U.S. Government to Ali Mohamed, who was close to bin Laden and above all Zawahiri, who has been called the “main player” in 9/11.[31] (Al-Zawahiri is often described as the more sophisticated mentor of the younger bin Laden.)[32] In particular Congress should determine why Patrick Fitzgerald chose to mislead the American people about Mohamed’s FBI status.

In short, the al Qaeda terror network accused of the 9/11 attacks was supported and expanded by U.S. intelligence programs and covert operations, both during and after the Soviet Afghan War. Congress should rethink their decision to grant still greater powers and budget to the agencies responsible for fostering this enemy in the first place.

Sane voices clamor from the Muslim world that the best answer to terrorism is not war but justice. We should listen to them. By using its energies to reduce the injustices tormenting Islam, the United States will do more to diminish terrorism than by creating any number of new directorates in Washington.

9/11 "Truth" Movement: Moscow's Disinformation Machine On 9/11

"In order for Moscow and its allies to implement a nuclear world war against America and its allies, they would have to use conspiracy theories as disinformation to spread their propaganda. Alex Jones who runs Infowars.com and Prisonplanet.com is perfect for that type of paranoia. Jones and his ilk always leave out Russia and China as the ones whom are causing the trouble only to use sources that are directly or indirectly tied to Moscow and/or Beijing to prove that America is the "Great Satan" and the one "behind" 9/11 and international terrorism."

Here's part of my interpretation to-date about Val.

Two fold: The "non-illegal-leak-of-classified-info-by-those-authorized-to-declassify" is simple crappy-pants as any kind of means for de-classifying. But excellent CYA for it's ability to fend of a judicial approach. They got away with, simple.

Yet, Joe and Val are two smart cookies on their own while lying in bed. It makes fine sense to me, that Joe keeps the 'vindictive admin' story alive, and very kicking (especially if they're still truthies at heart).

The blow to Val/Joe looks to me like convenient two birds, rather than one 'clear' objective (Joe) 'through' Val.

But cutting down Val, was the real objective. Joe was the 'excuse'.

i watched Olbermann last night, and he started off his show off with the new "Osama" tape. he started off by saying "if Osama really is some orwellian creation, and the federal government is putting out these tapes to keep us nice and scared, why would they put it out on a Friday, a day usually reserved for putting out bad news that you dont want people to hear about?" and he also alluded to the fact that once again, its an audio and not video tape. Olbermann may not be a closet truther when it comes to 9/11, but he clearly knows more than hes letting on. we should work on him. flood his e-mail.hes more reachable than any other cable news talking head.hes the closest thing to a real liberal on any news channel.too bad his producers force him to devote roughly half of his show to celebs every night. gotta keep a muzzle on him i guess.

Theories From the Ivory Tower
The University of Wisconsin is launching a review of a professor who teaches that the U.S. government planned the 9/11 terror attacks to start a war between Christians and Muslims.

Cultural folklore professor Kevin Barrett is the co-founder of a 9/11-conspiracy group, and urges members of the two faiths to overcome their belief that terrorists were behind the attacks. The university launched an investigation after Barrett told a conservative radio show that he shares his views on 9/11 in the classroom, prompting some state lawmakers to call for Barrett's immediate dismissal.

Someone theorized that if

Someone theorized that if you were a hijacker with poor flying skills, why would you fly all the way out of Boston to hit NYC targets, when there are numerous airports in & around NYC.

IÂ’ll take this one step further:

If you wish to hijack planes to hit targets in NYC & Washington, D.C., why hijack ones on their way to California? Then you need to turn around, fly way off course, shut off transponders, etc., bringing a great deal of attention to yourself & hugely increasing the risk of failure, interception, etc.!

Why not just hijack planes whose destinations are NYC & D.C. to hit targets in those cities??? Such planes normally fly near the WTC, Pentagon, White House, etc. You just let the original pilots bring the airliner within 20 miles of these targets, and then make your move, and no one would be the wiser until it was far too late to do anything about it!

You wouldnÂ’t have to worry about hijacking planes hundreds of miles away from their targets, taking them way off course, flying them there yourselves, risking a mutiny (UA93) or a shoot-down; shutting off transponders, etc. All that tremendous increase in risk for some extra fuel? They could have just hijacked jumbo jets (bigger planes than B-757s) on their way to NY & DC!

IMO, the above is yet another huge smoking gun!!! Spread it around if you see fit.

No need to lay out the challenge to the Official Story that way. Just talk about the transponders. Far too little has been raised about their roll in aviation, and their physical makeup.
