Commission Admits: Too Soft on Giuliani
9/11 Commission Co-Chairs Kean and Hamilton now admit they were too soft on Giuliani.
Republican Thomas Kean and Democrat Lee Hamilton also say in "Without Precedent" that their panel was too soft in questioning former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani — and that the 20-month investigation may have suffered for it.

The book states that commission staff, "exceedingly frustrated" by what they thought could be deception, proposed a full review into why the FAA and the Pentagon's NORAD had presented inaccurate information. That ultimately could have led to sanctions.
Due to a lack of time, the panel ultimately referred the matter to the inspectors general at the Pentagon and Transportation Department. Both are preparing reports, spokesmen said this week.
"Fog of war could explain why some people were confused on the day of 9/11, but it could not explain why all of the after-action reports, accident investigations and public testimony by FAA and NORAD officials advanced an account of 9/11 that was untrue," the book states.
The questioning of Giuliani was considered by Kean and Hamilton "a low point" in the commission's examination of witnesses during public hearings. "We did not ask tough questions, nor did we get all of the information we needed to put on the public record," they wrote.
Commission members backed off, Kean and Hamilton said, after drawing criticism in newspaper editorials for sharp questioning of New York fire and police officials at earlier hearings. The editorials said the commission was insensitive to the officials' bravery on the day of the attacks.
"It proved difficult, if not impossible, to raise hard questions about 9/11 in New York without it being perceived as criticism of the individual police and firefighters or of Mayor Giuliani," Kean and Hamilton said.

In their book, which goes on sale Aug. 15, Kean and Hamilton recap obstacles they say the panel faced in putting out a credible report in a presidential election year, including fights for access to government documents and an effort to reach unanimity.

Somewhere inbetween, I guess. No doubt the operation was largely "outsourced", with Cheney and co keeping the rear guard.
If have HAD to choose I'd go with the Ruppert camp. Tarpley -- as much as I admire him and respect his intellect -- virtually absolves the neocons of involvment, though it's quite obvious they were essential to the operation, probably the masterminds, from a clean break and PNAC to Strauss and beyond.
People like Tarpley and Alex Jones are forever chasing the shadow, rather than the substance; alternatively, people like Chomsky only focus on the institutional side (which is, however, far more relevant, though less "sexy").
The shadow gov serves mainly as a means of plausible deniability for members of state, but it's not at all clear who is pulling who's strings -- in fact, like the relationship between israel and the US, the line simply isn't there anymore.
Nor does it really MATTER.

As for the alleged assassination attempts on Bush and this business about "Angel", it seems more likely -- to me anyway -- that these elements were involved in a COUNTER-coup, threatening Bush and Ço after they figured out they had been snookered. The war games had gone live. Don't forget, a lot of Pentagon folks died that day, many involved in keeping the books.
Schoenman, Chossudovsky, Sander Hicks Ruppert and Ahmed place the 911 attacks in their proper context: a crisis of capitalism. But I also feel Alex and Tarpley etc. offer valuable contributions.

More than likely, Tarpley is on point. I can totally picture some black shady corp. like DynCorp or Bechtel running this from some secret underground control room fully tied into black-op/shadow government technology.
Cheney was obviously a low level operative blundering NORAD and causing problems for the military intercepts. Like Tarpley said, would this op be put in the hands of some rolly polly with four pacemakers who could drop dead at any moment?
These subtle details are the most interesting but yet the ones we'll probably never know. So annoying....
The problem I see with this scenario is that it would be difficult to prosecute these "hidden hands" and it possibly takes the main blame off the Admin (who I want in prison ASAP), and makes them more like accessories to the act than the sole planners/perps. The PNAC slugs had to be tied into the black op though, after all it's their gameplan unfolding. Thoe whole thing could go REAL DEEP though, into Rothschild types, etc.
