All of Stone's subtle hints & riddles about what really happened just preach to the choir. I'm sure they all went way over the heads of the general masses, the people we need to reach now!

At risk of tarnishing my rep, I have a very different take on Stone and the film. (I know I'm a rock solid truther so I don't mind taking risks and definitely don't need validation from anyone.)

I've seen it twice now, just to confirm my initial sense and to notice more details than I could the first time. Several things are clear to me on this: 1)A realistic viewing of the movie reveals that he has probably included the absolute bare minimum of patriotic BS he could have possibly gotten away with and had the bankers behind Hollywood fund/back/release the film. 2)The presence of explosion all around before and during the collapse, and an ever-present inferno from below, including the main characters being burned by probable molten metal are significant elements of the film, not to be downplayed. It is all totally supportive of and consistent with controlled demolition. 3)There are an INFINITE number of ways a film maker in the actual employ of the fascists would have infused disinformation, propaganda, jingoism etc etc that Stone COMPLETELY avoids. His scope is totally narrow on the people involved in the McLoughlin/Jimeno rescue and emphasizes human bonding, love, courage, family bonds, etc. 4) The things that are most distasteful about the movie come out of the mouths of the marine who located them and a paramedic from
Wisconsin. The things those actors say in the movie are probably pretty accurate to what these regular joe American guys probably did say. Showing a couple of scenes of this is simply a factual portrayal of what happened that day and allowed Stone to meet the miminum standard for jingoism in a way that placed it in the mouths of the guys who are obviously not at the pinnacle of human critical thinking ability, to put it mildly. As anyone half awake can see.

So, to sum up: Stone took a huge piece of 9/11 film subject 'real estate' off the market in a way that focuses on human goodness, never once uses the term 'Al queda', shows clips of WTC-7 coming down in controlled demo, with news people saying it looks like a demolition, shows the sub-basement inferno repeatedly, and yes, has a depiction of Jimeno's vision of Jesus in a way that is quite spiritual and consistent with what thousands and millions of others have reported experiencing, in their own traditions, in near death scenarios. A realistic assessment of the incredible amount of careful planning it had to have taken to create this film and get it released in order to take this film real estate off the market to prevent some much, much worse piece of propaganda in my book clearly marks out Stone as worthy of truthers' gratitude.

"Patriotism, militarism, religion, Bush and Giuliani: this is nothing for Stone to be proud of. The extreme right, however, thinks highly of World Trade Center. Reactionary columnist Cal Thomas termed the work “one of the greatest pro-American, pro-family, pro-faith, pro-male, flag-waving, God Bless America films you will ever see.” L. Brent Bozell III, president of the right-wing Media Research Center and founder of the Parents Television Council, described World Trade Center as “a masterpiece.” These comments strike one as a clutching at straws. It’s dubious, in fact, whether such an insincere film will have a significant impact on those who see it."

More disturbing is the blurb near the end of the article, however:

"The filmmaker made a revealing comment in an interview with the New York Times, whose reporter noted that Paul Haggis (Crash) is directing an adaptation of former intelligence analyst Richard ClarkeÂ’s book, Against All Enemies, which took the Bush administration to task for its failings..."

Failings. Incompetence. Sean Penn as Richard Clarke. Now THIS will be a dangerous film. Clarke has been described as the "spider in the web of international terrorism". Quite right. This man is LOVED by liberals; they use him for partisan attacks against the Repugs. Clarke is the origin of the "Al-Qaeda myth. He was the first one to pronounce, on 911: "Okay, we know who did this". His limited hangout "coming out" against the "incompetence" of the Bush administration was a classic disinfo move, probably planned well before the attack even took place.
