NORAD scrambles jets to intercept Russian bombers

NORAD launched Canadian and American fighter jets to intercept two Russian bombers near U.S. airspace, officials said Friday.
Russian military officials had warned the United States the bombers would be conducting an exercise in the region. But as the planes crossed a 20-kilometre buffer zone around U.S. airspace, the NORAD planes moved in.
At about 6 p.m. ET Thursday, NORAD scrambled three pairs of fighter jets -- including two CF-18 jets from Cold Lake, Alta.
The American aircraft included four F-15s from Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska.
"It was the Americans who found the bombers first. They came to within metres of the bombers," reported CTV's David Akin. "There was no radio contact. After a period of time, the Russians turned and went home."
The bombers never crossed over into Canadian or U.S. airspace. And according to Major Jason Proulx, such incidents are not rare.
"It's not just something we do with foreign aircraft," he told CTV Newsnet. "NORAD is responsible for monitoring suspicious aircraft within our own domestic airspace as well."
Even though NORAD knew the Russian planes would be flying in the area, he said the incident was still "exciting" for the Canadian military.
"It's always exciting to be involved in this line of work," Proulx said.
"We have pilots and support people that train to do this; people that monitor the skies 24/7. And it's interesting when ... their training is put to the test. An example such as this was perfect: they're trained to do it, they responded, they intercepted and everything worked out great."

9/11 Truthers have been saying since Day 1 thatNORAD should have intercepted the apparently "hijacked" passenger jets, and that this was a routine function of NORAD.
The NORAD spokesman said:

Popular Mechanics have been doing their best to debunk 9/11 Truth and have claimed that NORAD was not responsible for monitoring and defending domestic airspace. BUSTED!
This also underscores what Sergeant LJ Chavez stated recently, that one of his superiors at CENTCOM told him (or he overheard him) saying that NORAD was told to "stand down!" on 9/11.

On Webster Tarpley's radio show last night he mentioned that this Russian air exercise might have been a warning to the USA not to invade Iran.
The Russian exercise had 70 bombers and they test fired 18 cruise missiles. Not a small exercise at all !!!

Also, on Tarpley's show last night, he had a high EU official (who by the way is paving the way for 911 truth in Italy) on the show who is an expert on Russia and that official said that Russia will not stand down if the USA attacks Iran. Russia did stand down on the Iraq and Afghan wars but it will not stand down for Iran.
And I think also Iran is becoming a member of the SCO which is made up of at least Russia and China.
Its like their NATO.
So, an attack on Iran by the USA could bring Russia and China into the fight.
They are also trying to protect their energy rich back yard.

A friend of mine just got back from Alaska, and he said he was talking to one of the bush pilots about 9/11 on his way back to Anchorage. Apparently, the guy was still flying (in the middle of nowhere) after the ground- stop, and his single prop- engine plane was intercepted by two fighter planes. The pilot said it's ridiculous that they intercepted him that day but not the three passenger jets. I guess the Air Force stuck around up there after Northern Guardian and Northern Vigilance was called off...

So he didn't follow the FAA instructions that applied to EVERY civilian aircraft that day and he's pissed that the USAF came up to take a look?

Do the terms BEFORE and AFTER mean anything to you? You 9/11 conspiracy morons start with the idea that everybody woke up that they knowing there was going to be some type of attack. The fact that most people didn't have an idea what was really going on until AFTER the second jet hit the South Tower doesn't seem to mean anything to you... :O(

(1) Interecept of Russian Bear bombers by US personnel.

- Open ocean - low traffic density, little "clutter" to block/confuse radar operators, most commercial airliners fly specific "tracks" to and from US/Asia. Large airfraft flying "off track" stick out like a sore thumb.
- Russians fly relatively straight, level headings at altitude - easy to track by radar.
- USAF interceptors actively looking for them (all part of the game) BEFORE being acquired on radar.
- Airborne radar (E-3 or similar) set up and intended for this type of long- range intercept.
(2) Loss of commercial jets on radar on 9/11/2001.

- HEAVY traffic density, aicraft going all directions all over the place. In case you didn't know, Newark ATC is one of the busiest centers in the country (if not the world). THOUSANDS of aircraft flying over the northeast US on a workday morning.
- Terrorists turn off transponders, making wild variations in altitude, heading to create confusion.
- USAF interceptors launched AFTER problem identified, still not sure what they are looking for, much less what they are supposed to do when they find the "target".
- Ground-based radar, line of sight, lots of ground clutter (ever heard the term "flying below the radar"? That's what F-111's, B-1s, and cruise missles were designed to do).
Two different cases, two different sets of circumstances. Try to get a clue, please...

I'll Answer this one due to the fact I work in Naval Aviation, 20 years now. First I would like to add, 4 aircraft hijacked and not ONE hijacking code transmitted! BS! Transponders turned off, thats what were told, however I do not believe that one for one minute, never did and never will! The military jets NOT knowing what they were looking for? What BS! When jets launch dumbass there is more than just Air Traffic Control personnel in contact with these jets,,,,,
Doing 9/11 was so freakin easy! Piece of cake! How? Have many, many people involved who only have a small piece of the puzzle that changes hands in a different direction or avenue. In other words it was not all done in ONE day.
Example: Cabling more than likely was placed in the WTC Towers, they finish job. New contractor comes in and they say "install these to the cables" not knowing what they are.
In other words getting 4 aircraft would be a piece of cake too, but then again I believe there was only 2 or 3 planes that crashed that day.

The Russian military on Tuesday launched a massive exercise that will involve dozens of long-range bombers test-firing cruise missiles, the Associated Press news agency reported quoting the nation’s air force chief.
The maneuvers will involve over 50 Tu-160, Tu-95 and Tu-22M aircraft flying missions over the Arctic, Pacific and Atlantic Oceans and the Black and Caspian Seas, Gen. Vladimir Mikhailov said, according to the Interfax and ITAR-Tass news agencies. He said it will be the largest exercise involving Russian long-range bombers in years, the agencies reported.
A flow of petrodollars has allowed the Russian government to steadily increase military budget in recent years, a sharp contrast with dire funding shortages after the 1991 Soviet collapse. Russian military exercises have grown in scope and become more regular.
