On the Way to the Gas Chamber

On the way to the gas chamber,
the Congress of Cowards lying down for Patriot Acts 1 and 2,
the Electronic Surveillance Modernization Act,
and now the Military Commissions Act of 2006,
trashing the US Constitution, the Geneva Conventions, the UN Charter,
the Nuremberg Principles, and all sense of decency, morality,
reason, and concern for civilization and the perpetuation of the human race,
I draft a little statement, as modest as can be,
considering the circumstances, and ask the "9/11 truth" researchers--
there are thousands of them, hundreds of websites,
polls showing more than a hundred million Americans agree
in contradistinction to the mainlining government-addicted corporate-fed media--

I ask them, can we please stop bickering about planes or no planes
or whether it was the Illuminati, the Bilderbergers, Zionist billionaires,
the Freemasons, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Trilateral Commission,
the High Cabal, the military-industrial-complex, or the CIA behind it all
and just get the damned Bushcons out of office, so we can breathe again?

Can we just say this one thing, with one voice, loudly, together, while we still can,
before the brownshirts start marching in the streets, before they start sending us
to the FEMA prison camps they're building, and throw away the key and kill us
as "enemy combatants" and "terrorist suspects," which they now can do
under the new law of the land of the United Police States of America?
Can we please just do this, while we still can, while we still have the internet,
talk radio, and the right to assemble and talk to each other, and once in a blue moon
a program on C-Span, or even the fleeting disdainful attention of O'Reilly or Hannity & Colmes?

The Germans had none of this in 1933, when their own parliament lay down and died
without a fight. The thugs were already marching, breaking bones and windows,
leaving no wriggle room. We're not there yet, but not far away, and when that day comes,
my fellow "researchers," you will drown in tears of shame for having failed to understand
that in times like these, as always, l'unité fait la force, and that alone you are nothing
and worse than nothing because you betray us all, waiting for your private revolution
that will never come, and that you'll miss, even if it does, due to your unfortunate
death, and very likely the nuclear incineration of the rest of us, or the slower agony
of starvation and disease by enivironmental holocaust, inside or outside of a FEMA gulag.

"Oh, I'm so sorry," you will say. "I just didn't think it was partisan issue.
"After all, the Democrats were in on it too, weren't they? They were all in on it, weren't they?
"I wanted real change, not just a change of puppets."

"No!" you say--now, when you can still talk--"I won't sign on to this:"

It has become abundantly clear to a majority of the American people, not to mention the rest of the world, that the Bush administration has utterly failed to conduct a satsifactory investigation into the events of 9/11. There has been no satisfactory explanation for the failure of our air defenses on that day, and the suspicion that the government itself was complicit in the attacks is widespread and growing rapidly. Since the 9/11 attacks have been used by the Bush administration to justify its so-called "war on terror" at home and abroad, causing the loss of fundamental civil liberties as well as tens of thousands of lives, the failure to properly investigate those attacks is inexcusable and intolerable. We are bitterly disappointed and equally outraged by the failure of the mainstream media and Congress to demand action by the executive branch befitting of a democratic government.

We therefore plead, with the utmost urgency, that the American people do everything possible to elect people in the coming elections who will stand up to those in power, defend our right to know the full truth about the events of Sept. 11, 2001, and restore peace and our constitutional rights.

"Oh, no!" says one. " The only statement I'll sign is: They didn't really use planes on 911."

"Oh no!" another no-planer says. "This list insults my intelligence. Take me off it.
"They are all in on it. I won't agree to any such statement and I will attack it and ridicule it wherever it pops up."

Another one instructs me: "Find out the difference between a democracy and a republic.
"Leave me out of your infantile fantasies."

A plane-hugger says, "I don't want to be on this discussion list. Please remove me from it."

But most say nothing at all.
I guess it's an insult to their intelligence as well.
They know it all. They have seen the light
and will soon smell the gas.
