Lotfi Raissi (centre) says his life was destroyed by the accusations

An Algerian pilot mistakenly accused of training the 11 September hijackers has won the right to challenge a decision not to compensate him.

Lotfi Raissi was never charged with any terrorism offence but spent five months in Belmarsh high security prison.

Although a judge later said there was no evidence linking Mr Raissi to terrorism, the Home Office said he was not entitled to compensation.

But a High Court judge awarded him the right to a judicial review.

This BBC posting is from February, Mr Raisi was back in court yesterday, it got the briefest of mentions on BBC's late nite news service, There is no mention on the BBC webs.

" Lotfi Raissi who was wanted by the US authorities accused of training the "9/11 hijackers" Rolling Eyes is back in court today demanding compensation for being encarcerated between 10 days after 9/11 to Feb 2002. The UK denied attempted extradition to the US, but Lotfi now wants compensation as he has been branded a terrorist (His wife was also sacked by the airline she worked for). The main reason he gives is that the US have had 5 years to put forward a case against him... but have come up with nothing (now there is a surprise). "
