The Ghost in the Machines
The Ghost in the Machines: The Mystery of the WTC Hard Drive Recoveries
by Michael Fury
Many are aware of the surge in put options purchased on American and United Airlines as well as several major tenants of the WTC in the days preceding 9/11, purchases the 9/11 Commission Report waves away in a footnote on pg. 499 as “having no connection with 9/11", explaining that a “single U.S.-based institutional investor with no conceivable ties to al Qaeda purchased 95 percent of the UAL puts on September 6." This investor has not been identified. Nonetheless, as a National Review contributor put it on 7/26/04, “on September 10, 2001, somebody, somewhere, was very, very bearish about AMR's near-term prospects.” “And for executing options orders of the magnitude of early September, one would require the services of a major institutional broker — you try inputting "Buy 4,500 AMR October Puts" on E*Trade without getting a quizzical call from the broker. That kind of access would have been far beyond the means of anyone who could possibly have known in advance of the attacks.” (Curiously, despite the Commission’s dismissal of 9/11 insider trading, this “myth” informs the premise of the recent James Bond film Casino Royale.)
More obscure, and nowhere mentioned in the Commission Report, are the facts of the WTC computer data recovery operation undertaken in late 2001 by Convar GmbH, a German firm. Under conditions of hermetic secrecy, Convar used its proprietary technology to salvage data from the damaged hard drives of WTC tenants, as reported in December 2001 by Reuters and CNN.

From the Reuters article:
“Were criminals responsible for the sharp rise in credit card transactions that moved through some computer systems at the WTC shortly before the planes hit the twin towers?
Or was it coincidence that unusually large sums of money, perhaps more than $100 million, were rushed through the computers as the disaster unfolded?”
"The suspicion is that inside information about the attack was used to send financial transaction commands and authorisations in the belief that amid all the chaos the criminals would have, at the very least, a good head start," said Convar director Peter Henschel.”
"It could turn out that Americans went on an absolute shopping binge on that Tuesday morning. But at this point there are many transactions that cannot be accounted for," Henschel said.
"Not only the volume but the size of the transactions was far higher than usual for a day like that. There is a suspicion that these were possibly planned to take advantage of the chaos."
“Richard Wagner, a data retrieval expert at the company, said illegal transfers of more than $100 million might have been made immediately before and during the disaster.”
"There is a suspicion that some people had advance knowledge of the approximate time of the plane crashes in order to move out amounts exceeding $100 million," Wagner said. "They thought that the records of their transactions could not be traced after the main frames were destroyed."
“Henschel said the companies in the United States were working together with the FBI to piece together what happened on September 11 and that he was confident the destination of the dubious transactions would one day be tracked down.”
After the CNN article of December 20, the media was stricken mute on the Convar investigation. Of the media blackouts shrouding 9/11, none has been more absolute.
Notice that Convar, its unnamed WTC clients and the FBI possessed this data, and that the FBI would have no reason to withhold it had it proven benign or consistent with the Commission’s account of the attacks.
Of interest also is the acquisition trail of Convar subsequent to its data recovery operation. In June 2002 Convar was acquired by Kroll Inc., a powerful international “security” firm which has earned a reputation as “the CIA of Wall Street” because of the many former intelligence officers (CIA, FBI, MI6, Scotland Yard etc.) on its payroll. Kroll Managing Director Jerome Hauer was instrumental in the design of Giuliani’s Office of Emergency Management command-and-control bunker on the 23rd floor of WTC 7, and in August 2001 arranged the hiring of former FBI counter-terrorism chief John O’Neill to head WTC security (O’Neill was killed in the attacks, on what Bernard Kerik claimed was his “first or second day on the job” http://edition.cnn.com/2001/US/09/21/vic.body.terror.expert/).
More recently, Kroll has itself been acquired by Marsh & McLennan, which on 9/11 occupied floors 94 through 100 of WTC 1, the target area of the impact.
It is worth remembering what Sibel Edmonds told Jim Hogue: “I can tell you that the issue, on one side, boils down to money--a lot of money. And it boils down to people and their connections with this money…”
http://baltimorechronicle.com/050704SibelEdmonds.shtml
Consider again Wagner’s speculation: “They thought that the records of their transactions could not be traced after the main frames were destroyed." The locations of the computers in question within the towers is unknown, but if Wagner is correct, two possibilities emerge: (1) either the “insiders” had foreknowledge of the precise impact points of the aircraft (otherwise why assume that the main frames would be destroyed?) or (2) they had foreknowledge of the total destruction of the towers. Upon reflection, for numerous reasons the first possibility recedes into remote improbability. But why would the “insiders” assume the total collapse of the towers when there was no historical precedent for such an event and the towers had been designed to survive the impact of fuel-laden 707s at 600 mph? http://911research.wtc7.net/wtc/analysis/design.html If in fact the WTC towers were demolished by explosives, incendiaries or other means, whoever initiated these transactions should be considered suspect for complicity in those acts.
No legitimate reason--in fact no reason whatsoever--for withholding the Convar data has to date been offered.

great job man, this is going
great job man, this is going on my favorites list for sure.
CNN omits mention of illegal trades
Awesome work. I've been looking for details on Convar, and haven't found anything beyond that December 2001 article.
Note how the CNN version of the Convar article does not include the quote from Wagner about how $100 million in illegal transfers may have been made. I noticed this a while ago, because I first found the Reuters report on a Chinese website. When I compared it with CNN's version, I noticed they had excised the speculation about illegal trades.
Wagner's comment about "advance knowledge" is a humdinger.
Something tells me that Bernard Kerik is implicated in all of this. I mean, the guy has serious connections to both Giuliani and Bush, and he went from bankrupt in 1998 to a multimillionaire a few years later basically by selling arms. Still later he gets assigned to Iraq by Bush. As Giuliani's Police Commissioner, Kerik was the Ghoulster's wing man on 9/11.
God forbid if Giuliani gets
God forbid if Giuliani gets elected president, Bernard Kerik will get some very powerful position.
--- I take it back, I just read his wikipedia profile and that could never happen. lol
Another Saudi connection
Kerik strikes me as the fall guy/hired muscle for Giuliani, Bush, and their crowd. He seems like a useful idiot, someone the globalists entrusted with "security" jobs, someone they would later need to discredit in case he decided to talk. His story just reads like a mafioso story: guy arrives out of nowhere, flat broke, then becomes a multimillionaire by working the securities industry on behalf of goons like Giuliani and Bush.
The fact that Bush nominated him for Director of Homeland Security should say all that needs to be said.
And then there's this WTF? moment in his bio:
"Kerik worked from 1982 to 1984 as chief of investigations for the security office at King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, one of the kingdom's premier hospitals, where members of the royal family are treated. Six members of the hospital security staff, including Kerik, were fired and deported after an investigation in 1984 by the Saudi secret police. (reported by the Washington Post)"
Good eye. I only skimmed
Good eye. I only skimmed the article. That surely is a wtf moment. Very strange.
Jerome Hauer
Jerome "Jerry" Hauer. Seeing your article reminded me of a passage from The Man Who Warned America, the book about FBI agent John O'Neill. Look at page 337.
"...Jerry Hauer maintained a vast array of contacts as the former head of the city's Office of Emergency Management, and he helped O'Neill job-hunt....
That same month, Larry Silverstein, president of Silverstein Properties, a vast real estate company, took over the proprietary lease of the World Trade Center from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.... When Hauer was the city's OEM director, he had many dealings with Silverstein's company and was also a friend of its president, Jeff Wharton, who told Hauer that Silverstein was looking for a top-level candidate to revamp security at the World Trade Center complex....
With Hauer acting as go-between, O'Neill met with Wharton and Silverstein....
Although Silverstein was seeking a top-level executive to serve as his security director, he was even more insistent that the selection be in place by the first week of September, when his firm would assume control of the buildings."
Remember, O'Neill was the leading FBI expert on Al Qaeda. He was also frustrated by White House obstruction, so he quit the FBI and became head of security at the WTC, where he died on 9/11.
Great stuff. This is the
Great stuff simuvac. This is the type of hard information and analysis we need in the movement to obtain legitimacy and attention!
Amerithrax and Hauer
Hauer also has a tenuous connection with the Amerithrax case. He is an expert in Civilian Bio Defense:
"On April 10, 1998 Hauer attended a "roundtable on genetic engineering and biological weapons" under President Clinton, where he may have become known to expert Barbara Rosenberg who took a major role in 2001 in generating a list of anthrax suspects when the origin of the toxin was determined to be an Ames strain from the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID), Fort Detrick, MD."
"Hauer organized a conference for experts and press called Reporting on Weapons of Mass Destruction—Responsibility, Reliability, Readiness. on July 26, 1999 in New York."
And...
"During this period at OEM he worked with Steven Hatfill, later reported to be a Senior Research Associate at USAMRIID, in a role of an expert for advising the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) which in turn advises the US government and several other countries. Members of the CFR include Pentagon top advisers Richard Perle, Henry Kissinger, Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz, ex-CIA chief James Woolsey and biosciences specialist Joshua Lederberg. Hauer and Hatfill presented a topic called Building a 'Biobomb': Terrorist Challenge on May 28, 1998 at a CFR conference. He later took part in a meeting at the CFR called "Independent Task Force on America's Response to Terrorism" on November 6, 2001 which defined a framework for public relation goals in communicating the 9/11 events."
"Hauer started his work for the NIH by September 10, 2001 as a national security advisor. He might have been there earlier, but public sources are not clear. At the time he still held the position of Managing Director at Kroll Associates, Inc.. On 11th September he gave a secret recommendation to the White House to take Cipro, an antibiotic that is effective against anthrax."
I would say that giving the "secret recommendation to the WH..."
..."to take Cipro" is more than "tenuous". Great info, simuvac...I take it this info is also from "The Man who Warned America"....
Jerome Hauer is obviously a significant player in all of this...we need to find out all we can about him and Kroll. I know my interest is piqued.
Actually, I was just quoting
Actually, I was just quoting from his Wikipedia entry.
I had not previously given much thought to the close circle of allies in the Bush/Giuliani nexus. Makes me wonder why some Bush donors are backing McCain. But I guess it really doesn't matter: it all supports the same cause.
Anyone interested in this
Anyone interested in this should listen to Richard Andrew Grove's account of what his software firm
was hired by Marsh (the target area) to do in the year leading up to 9/11. Tie the insider trading into his
testimony and 9/11 becomes a whole lot clearer
as far as the insider trading goes.
Here's the link to Grove's
Here's the link to Grove's extensive interview with Meria Heller:

Excellent work on one of the
Excellent work on one of the many fronts of 9/11 research. These secretive security firms are very disturbing. We need to know more about them and their operations.
By the way, who is the 911blogger who wrote the 70+ page paper on Norman Mineta's 9/11 Commission testimony? If your article consists of information backed up by reputable citations, you should consider writing an objective wikipedia article on the subject and tying it in to the 9/11 conspiracies article.
Thanks for distilling this down to its essence...
I've always found this aspect of 9/11 somewhat confusing, with all the previously unknown players and their vague business interests....this is very helpful, especially with regard to Kroll and Marsh & McLennan and has inspired me to look into this further....
I can't help but feel that something substantial might break here soon...we seem very close to something.....
