That story about Halliburton acquiring the asbestos liabilities of Dresser Industries raises an interesting point...

Cheney KNEW that Dresser had the most massive liability issue on planet earth (he had to have known) yet decided to pay good money to bring Dresser's problems under Halliburton's tent.

This raises the question...who were the largest shareholders of Dresser - in need of a lifeboat to save their own personal bacon? Anyone named Bush? Anyone named Carlyle?

US submits extradition request for Kobi Alexander

The United States submitted a request to Namibia on Monday for the extradition of fugitive Comverse CEO Ya'akov (Kobi) Alexander.

The request came four days before the official cutoff date for such an appeal. Namibia's justice minister was expected to convene an emergency discussion on the extradition request on Tuesday.

Alexander, who was accused in a multimillion-dollar stock manipulating scheme, was released on bail earlier this month by a Namibian judge. The Namibian government said at the time that it opposed bail pending a formal extradition request from the US, according to Justice Ministry official Dennis Khama.

Earlier, US Attorney Roslynn Mauskopf said that she would seek Alexander's swift extradition to face charges in federal court in Brooklyn.

A small field (20 by 40 miles) with hundreds of coal seams throughout 12,000 feet of rock, most very thin, but 68 are over 5 feet thick. Peat collected in intermountain swamps. All are strip mines. The one underground mine closed recently.

Not that George W. Bush needs much encouragement, but Sen. Lindsey Graham suggested to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales a new target for the administration's domestic operations - Fifth Columnists, supposedly disloyal Americans who sympathize and collaborate with the enemy.

"The administration has not only the right, but the duty, in my opinion, to pursue Fifth Column movements," Graham, R-S.C., told Gonzales during Senate Judiciary Committee hearings on Feb. 6.

"I stand by this President's ability, inherent to being Commander in Chief, to find out about Fifth Column movements, and I don't think you need a warrant to do that," Graham added, volunteering to work with the administration to draft guidelines for how best to neutralize this alleged threat.

"Senator," a smiling Gonzales responded, "the President already said we'd be happy to listen to your ideas."

In less paranoid times, Graham's comments might be viewed by many Americans as a Republican trying to have it both ways - ingratiating himself to an administration of his own party while seeking some credit from Washington centrists for suggesting Congress should have at least a tiny say in how Bush runs the War on Terror.

But recent developments suggest that the Bush administration may already be contemplating what to do with Americans who are deemed insufficiently loyal or who disseminate information that may be considered helpful to the enemy.

Top US officials have cited the need to challenge news that undercuts Bush's actions as a key front in defeating the terrorists, who are aided by "news informers" in the words of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

Plus, there was that curious development in January when the Army Corps of Engineers awarded Halliburton subsidiary Kellogg Brown & Root a $385 million contract to construct detention centers somewhere in the United States, to deal with "an emergency influx of immigrants into the US, or to support the rapid development of new programs," KBR said. The "undercover tactical unit" involved in the assault and TASERing of a 9/11 investigative journalist at his Chicago-area home was most likely an operation ordered by the Department of Homeland Security, according to a former high-ranking police official.

Since the bizarre and brutal attack against me by three heavily-armed agents at my family home in Hoffman Estates , Illinois , a number of people have commented on the seemingly odd use of an "undercover tactical unit" to respond to a non-emergency 911 call.

Some of the most insightful comments have come from a former senior police official from Illinois , who spoke to a source close to AFP. The former police chief was familiar with the details of the incident when he made his comments.

In the opinion of the former police chief, the operation appears to have been ordered by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), under the leadership of the Israeli-American dual national Michael Chertoff. Chertoff, who has been the subject of several of my articles about 9/11 and the failure of his department to respond to Hurricane Katrina, is the son of Livia Eisen, one of the first agents of Israel's military intelligence agency, the Mossad.

In my humble opinion, the Twin Towers were imploded. If you watch the footage, you will see the precise way the the corners of the buildings fell inward. This can only be done with explosives and a trained person had to place the charges at just the right place: the corners. Sure the planes hit the two, and there was much heat generated by the JP fuel, but the fuel alone was not enoungh of a source of heat to bring them down the way they fell. My money is on the the fact that Bush & Company knew what was going on.

Also I find funny, is the fact that we have the best Air Force in the world and they ( the jets ) were not scrambled from NORAD? Hell, Stevie Wonder could have seen this mess coming.
