Cheney In Charge, starring: Richard Cheney

Here is an archived article from CNN describing how Cheney took charge on 9/11. I find it is important to go back and re-read old articles as new insights are gained. Several interesting paragraphs from the horses mouth. "It was a clear day, there were no weather problems, and then we saw the second airplane hit in real time," Cheney told CNN's John King in an interview in the vice president's office. "At that moment, you knew this was a deliberate act. This was a terrorist act." So Cheney, being in charge, had plenty of time to scramble jets over DC, knowing the country is under attack. ""My [Secret Service] agent all of a sudden materialized right beside me and said, 'Sir, we have to leave now.' He grabbed me and propelled me out of my office, down the hall, and into the underground shelter in the White House," Cheney said. In White House terminology, it is the PEOC, short for the Presidential Emergency Operations Center." Confirmed again, Cheney was definately in the PEOC very shortly after 2nd plane impact. "After the planes struck the twin towers, a third took a chunk out of the Pentagon. Cheney then heard a report that a plane over Pennsylvania was heading for Washington. A military assistant asked Cheney twice for authority to shoot it down." So the Pentagon had already been struck, which means the Mineta 50,30,10 miles out situation already occurred, and if "of course the orders still stand", the orders are confirmed in the article as SHOOT DOWN orders. Also, we MUST identify who this "military assistant" is, since he appreas to have access to vital info. ""The vice president said yes again," remembered Josh Bolton, deputy White House chief of staff. "And the aide then asked a third time. He said, 'Just confirming, sir, authority to engage?' And the vice president -- his voice got a little annoyed then -- said, 'I said yes.'" Why the need to ask 3 times? His statement, "I said yes", implies he has given the orders twice already. Why were'nt any planes shot down? Or was one? "Word came that Flight 93 crashed in Pennsylvania. Aides frantically called the White House to find out whether a military jet had shot it down. "The vice president was a little bit ahead of us," said Eric Edelman, Cheney's national security advisor. "He said sort of softly and to nobody in particular, 'I think an act of heroism just took place on that plane.'" This quote is very important to analyze. Either Cheney is psychic and knew exactly what happened on flight 93, he is writting the 9/11 official story on the fly to cover for something gone wrong in the plan. "Lynn Cheney was a constant presence. She leaned in at one point to tell the vice president that their daughters were fine. "It's something you think about, but again, it's not so much a personal consideration at that point. It may have been for people who didn't have anything to do," Cheney said." This quote shows how Cheneys lack of compassion for human life on 9/11 extends even to his daughters. Compassion is not limited to "people with nothing to do" sir. "Cheney wanted to track TV reports of the devastation and listen in on communications with the Pentagon. "You can have sound on one or the other and he found that technically imperfect," Matalin recalled. Why on earth would he give 2 shits what MSM is reporting when it is his people who the MSM the information? Over analyzing perhaps, but it shows how he was frustrated that he couldn't keep an eye on the public myth. My 2 cents.

This is pretty damning

Good find, AAA.
This is written on September 11, 2002--several months before Mineta's testimony on 5/23/03--yet it corroborates his story about an aide pressing Cheney about some kind of order, and Cheney being angry and confirming it.

Mineta testified that the plane referred to was the one heading for the Pentagon.* But the article reports that the Pentagon had already been hit and that it was Flight 93 over Pennsylvania.

Well, which is it? Is Mineta confused? Or is the CNN story a cover to suggest the order was actually a shoot-down order rather than a stand-down?

*MR. MINETA: No, I was not. I was made aware of it during the time that the airplane coming into the Pentagon. There was a young man who had come in and said to the vice president, "The plane is 50 miles out. The plane is 30 miles out." And when it got down to, "The plane is 10 miles out," the young man also said to the vice president, "Do the orders still stand?" And the vice president turned and whipped his neck around and said, "Of course the orders still stand. Have you heard anything to the contrary?" Well, at the time I didn't know what all that meant. And --

MR. HAMILTON: The flight you're referring to is the --

MR. MINETA: The flight that came into the Pentagon.

MR. HAMILTON: The Pentagon, yeah.

Confused

I seriously doubt that Mineta was confused because of how explicit he is about the flights location "50,30,10 miles out". Therefore, according to sworn testimony from Mineta and quotes from Josh Bolton WhiteHouse Chief of Staff, Cheney was asked several times about "orders" for flight77 *AND* flight93, at different times. If Bolton and Mineta are recalling correctly and being honest, which I personally believe they are, this proves that someone or a group of people were tracking the hijacked flights and therefore should have been shot down. Fog of war wasn't so foggy for the people in charge that day. And for the love of god can someone please find out who this "military assistant" is with all the flight tracking info.

"Fog of war"

“I was trying to clear the fog of war, and there is a fog of war," says the president. "Information was just flying from all directions.”

Card brought in the reports. There was word Camp David had been hit. A jet was thought to be targeting Mr. Bush’s ranch.

“I remember hearing that the State Department might have been hit, or that the White House had a fire in it," says Card. "So we were hearing lots of different information."

They also feared that Air Force One itself was a target. Cheney told the president there was a credible threat against the plane. Using the code name for Air Force One, Mr. Bush told an aide, “Angel is next.” The threat was passed to presidential pilot Col. Mark Tillman.

Strange how secret service

Strange how secret service evaced the VP but left the President sitting like a deer in the headlights.

They didn't want to scare the children!
