Other than the reason they did the movie, the way they did it is at least somewhat humorous.

And it's SO absurd that many will take it as a spoof, so that's good.

But what's truly hilarious is that we have "them" SO freaked, that they feel the need to resort to this type of asininity.

From what I hear, Rosie's contract is done in a few months, so that may be why she decided to speak out now. She, literally, has nothing to lose. (and even if she did, she can afford it anyway)

Just like she waited until right before her talk show was over before (officially) "coming out" as gay. (that was a bit convenient)

I'm no big Rosie fan, partly because of her sell-out early on in her talk show when she made the faux pas of dissing Tom Cruise's (first?) "Mission Impossible" movie, saying it wasn't very good, and _very_ shortly after that she was _suddenly_ a HUGE Tom Cruise fan, and "he was her 'boyfriend' ", and she loved T.C. more than anyone else in the world, and she made a HUGE deal out of it, and fawned over him every time he came on her show (which, again, occurred very shortly after her comments), and carried that ridiculous and disgusting spoof on until the end of her show.

(which, arguably, she was probably "forced" to do so she wouldn't lose her show — I never did look into it, but maybe the network her show was on was owned by the movie company who made M.I., or vice versa, or something like that — but she fell many notches in my eyes when I saw that unfortunateness occur, especially to the degree she took it)

It is apparent from all the coverage that Rosie gets that the corporate networks are framing the issue around Rosie rather than what she is saying.
