Pulling the daisies -- revisited
bruce1337 Sat, 04/14/2007 - 4:51pm
This is a follow-up to another entry about activism in Germany. This time, thanks to casseia's help, I can offer finalized english translations of hopefully handy activist material -- cleansed of typos, lowercase quotation marks, and overall engrish mishaps on my part. Enjoy!

So, american fellas
now that you can read it -- how do you like it?

Well, *I* think they're FABULOUS!
I'm going to use them at the local May Day protests.
That makes me happy
although this constellation -- praise from a collaborator -- reminds me of the 9/11 Commission Report.
Well, it's some kind of 9/11 Recommission Report Synopsis, so I guess that can be declared preserving traditions ;-)
Anyone else? What about the other 5 people that considered using this?

Love em....
Superb job Bruce !!!!
and "Dude, where's my core" --- Classic
Thanks dude :-)
Thanks Bruce... and casseia
Bruce, I really like what you've done here. I sure will make good use of this. I started to translate it in French. It could take me a couple of weeks as I'm both very busy and slightly lazy though. ;-) I'll make them available here when finished.

Perfect!
These are perfect man! I'm going to print some out and stick them up at my campus. This is exactly the type of flyer material I've been looking for. Thanks for the resources!

Thank you all for the kind words
made this more than worth the effort, already :-)

thanks!
as soon as i refill my ink cartridges, these will be taped all over the city (with a few of my favorite sites that don't push limited hangout written on the perimeter).
i'm not advocating this idea, but a simple 'THE 9/11 COVER-UP' sticker well-placed on a stop sign makes for a fine message.

yes, it's a shame that some people can actually get away with
that kind of hooliganism. I mean, it's one thing for a guy over thirty who is regularly seen with 9/11 materials around town getting caught doing that, and under 18 folks who no one will bother prosecuting and who can thus get away with putting extremely effective patriotic and informative stickers on public property.
I dunno, maybe a curfew will work to stop these kids from going around putting truth materials on newspaper boxes, street signs, store windows and all that. The pro-truth vandalism has got to STOP!!!

How about this for a logo?
It's supposed to depict a (very abstract, stylized) daisy -- you think it's recognizable? The idea came when I played this (check it out, it's a 3d riddle kinda thing!).
PS: I'll spare you the reporting of my yet unsuccessful struggle with the local bureaucracy. Damn them all!

I like it.
I don't think it's recognizable as a daisy -- unless you use the word daisy near it, in which case it is. Is that what you meant?
Yes, it's presented in context
still messing my way through PS, but probably somehow like this:

Yes, that looks very nice.
I wish I spoke German.
Thanks. My bro said it was too dark, though
so I lightened it up. How's this?
There's not much to read yet, anyway. I'll keep you guys updated whatever happens.

Eeek, it's huge!
I mean, it's fantastic. I'm personally a fan of dark-looking websites, but they seem to garner major hatred from some quarters and this looks very cool as well.
how about a stem and/or leaves?
without them it does look a bit like a fried egg... sorry, but someone may one day point that out so I thought I'd do it sooner rather than later... ;)

i had these printed big and laminated and mounted on foam core
I picked the 5 best for my needs, those with graphics I did in 24X36 hugeness and the text ones in 18X24. They are awesome--I'll put up pics soon of them (and my old ones) in action. Thanks Bruce!

Yay! Awesome!
24x36 -- guess you're talking inches? That's HUGE indeed. Frankly, I must concede that yours is way bigger than mine!
;-)
But honestly, your effort is all the thanks I need. Way to go!

it's not the size that matters, it's how you wield it!
confidently and in full view of as many people as possible. But this is exactly the kind of collaboration (your material and my production service) that the internet was meant to facilitate. Thanks again!

Don't mention it.
As of yet, those swabian bureaucrats deny me the right to wield it confidently and in full view of as many people as possible -- unless I have 6-20 people backing me. Perverts.
I was already considering attaching sleeves to it and standing inside -- pret a porter, Mr. police officer! Then again, those sticklers for the letter of the law CAN'T EVEN CITE any law to explain their refusal, and the last word has not been spoken. Guess in perspective you guys can count yourselves lucky for the first amendment and the generally generous interpretation thereof.
Here, it seems the Nazis were never really defeated...they just went undercover and instead of guns and swastikas they're now wielding forms and stamps.

my friend, there's probably more truth in that
than many would care to admit....
