Poem sought for 9/11 observance

The Medford Cultural Arts Commission is seeking an original poem by a Burlington County resident to be read at the township's 9/11 Remembrance observance, set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11 in Freedom Park.

The poem should be of reasonable length and appropriate for the occasion. If possible, the poem should allude to the theme of the ceremony, "Remember, Reflect, Respond."

The commission will review all entries and select one for inclusion in the ceremony. A stipend of $200 will be awarded to the poet.

Rights to the poem will remain with the poet; however, the commission reserves the right to distribute a copy to those in attendance.

All entrants must be 18 years or older.

Entries can be e-mailed to chairman Anthony Femiano at MCACPOETRY@aol.com or mailed to Femiano's attention to Medford Cultural Arts Commission, 95 Christopher Mill Road, Medford, 08055.

Entries must be received by 4 p.m. Aug. 20. The winner will be announced on Aug. 28.
