Open Source Government

I have come to the point now where I don’t believe 90% of what is on the news. This site has become one of my most trusted sources of information. With so many questions about 911 completely ignored, how can the MSM be trusted?

Our media has a bias but it’s not liberal as I’ve heard so often, it is corporate/government bias. People in Peru who are struggling to survive the earth quake are ‘looting’ stores for food and water, just as the people of New Orleans. It would be OK for troops to commandeer rations, but for individuals struggling to survive it’s called ‘looting’.

Now the Iowa straw poll has declared Mitt Romney winner. Mitt who? I just don’t believe it.

In the software community we have a concept called open source. Programs are written by a co-operating group of programmers and given free to the public. Everything is open. The source code can be viewed by everyone so you can see exactly what the program is doing and why. Complete transparency. If there is a better way to do something, someone in the community can write modifications.

We need this model for our government, starting with a new Open Source Straw Poll. Organized by the public; votes counted and recounted by members of our community. No corporate involvement. No Diebold voting machines. It should be completely transparent and in the spirit of cooperation.

Heresy

Transparent vote counting, but that would put control (the votes) back into the hands of the people!

The truth hurts.....

Who Cares?

The most important issue facing America is not even being debated by the presidential candidates. With the exception of Ron Paul, all of the candidates are acting on the assumption that America's interventionist foreign policy should continue. They only differ on the details of the intervention.

Since Dr. Paul doesn't have a chance of winning, I can therefore guarantee you that regardless of who wins the nominations and regardless of who ends up in the White House, you will be saddled with same failed interventionist policy. As in the past, it will preclude peace and result in conflicts that ultimately will bring America down. We can squander blood and treasure only so long before we collapse. Then we will join the heap of has-been empires like the British, French, Dutch and Soviets.

That's why I have no interest in the presidential race.

The United States has no moral or legal right to interfere in the internal affairs of any other nation. It is not threatened by any nation-state and therefore has no need of allies. An ally is someone who fights on your side during a war. When the war ends, the need for alliances ends.

George Washington – still the wisest man ever to serve as president – warned us against interventionism. He warned us against the influence of foreign lobbies. As he said, there is no reason for America to involve itself in the intrigues, feuds and wars that plague most parts of the world. Our only contact with the outside world should be in trade and commerce.

The problem of terrorism, which is a direct result of our interventionist policies, is not a war. It is a conflict with a few individuals. If we stopped our interventionist foreign policies, the problem of terrorists would gradually fade away. In the meantime, terrorism can be handled by intelligence and police work. It is not a fight the military can win.

The concept of a preemptive war should be an abomination to every American. Preemptive war is a war of aggression. It was the policy of Hitler's Germany and of the Japanese imperial government. To our national shame, apparently many Americans support the concept. They should never again criticize the Japanese for Pearl Harbor, the Third Reich for the invasion of Poland, or the Soviet Union for the invasion of Afghanistan. Click your heels and salute. You are no different from the people who cheered for Hitler.

The concept of a so-called humanitarian war, trotted out by Bill Clinton to justify intervention in the Balkans, is a contradiction in terms. War itself is a crime against humanity. No sane person can justify inflicting death and destruction in the name of humanitarianism.

The great tragedy caused by the interventionists is that they sabotage the peaceful and prosperous country that America could be. It's no mystery why the infrastructure is beginning to fail. It's no mystery why public education fails in so many places. It's no mystery why health care is becoming increasingly unaffordable. Look at the cost of the empire – the military and intelligence budgets, the cost of the wars. Between the military-industrial complex and the new war service industry, the treasury is being sucked dry by the worst people for the worst reasons.

In the meantime, what are the presidential candidates talking about? A few social schemes. Different strategies for intervention. They are like the first-class passengers on the Titanic, sitting around discussing their business deals and various affairs. They show no sign of awareness of the real world outside the televised game show called "Win the Nomination."

Who's ahead? Who zinged who? Who cares?

You're exactly right, Open Source Democracy

There is no such thing as "Democracy" without transparency, END OF STORY.

The number one enemy of the People is Official Government AND Corporate Secrecy. Large Public bodies that draw resources from everyone, everywhere, and who's effects are felt by everyone, everywhere can only serve the People under and "open source" culture. This secrecy gave rise, cover and means to the neocon perpetrators of 911, but also, and just as importantly, a 50+ year history of hijacking the gullible but well intentioned American People, their Constitution, and their Resources... I am "religious" on this subject.

Criminal investigations, national security, corporate decision making, and government people, practice and policy would all be miles ahead if these were completely transparent and open to public scrutiny. Like the blogs proving to be more reliable than the pre-packaged MSM, and "peer-review" being better science than say "faith-based" science, more eyes, ears, minds, passions and persuasions would lead rapidly to solutions and benefits for the whole. This is the missing link in the long overdue evolution of the human race, literally.

The TIA, or, "Total Information Awareness" program was exactly on, but with one crucial flaw, that this program must belong to the People and apply to government and public corporations, not the other way around! It will not matter who we elect, or whether we impeach unless and until the American People get a hold of the fact that "information" belongs to People, not governments or corporations. Everything will fall in place and immediately begin transforming and improving, including 911, if we wake up to this, the biggest of all secrets.

I've been arguing on other blogs that we may be able to open up the fascist inner workings of our nation, not to mention 100's of other harbors of corruption if we can gain the release of all 911 related information and evidence. Here's what I have in mind:

Comprehensive FOIA

Since the "Official" Government account of 911 involves some Arab Hijackers, some Commercial Airlines, and some Crumbling Buildings, and None of These are State Secrets, We the People of the United States Demand the the Full, Immediate and Unconditional Release of All Testimony, Transcripts, Physical Evidence, Video, Satellite, Radar, Intelligence and Actions of All Public Servants in Any Way Involved in, Touching Upon, or Effected By this, the greatest Terrorist Attack in Our History.

signed: everyone in the country who wants to know

Can we do this? The long shadows released in its wake would bring about a transformation, even perhaps the People's TIA...
