Seattle 9/11 Activism Plans Continue

If you can't make it to NYC or Washington, DC on 9/11/07, but you are near Seattle, Rev. Rich Lang has kick-started some multi-platform activism for 9/11;

About 50 of us had a very successful, animated, focused organizational meeting Monday night, August 20th. After a couple weeks of “slogging through some mire” we got back on dry land, and then moved up to higher ground.

The Call to Action (cf: www.livingfaithnow.org ) has resulted in the formation of a Freedom From Fear campaign. A listserve is being created this week, as is a website. ( www.freedomfromfear.us )

This brief note is to let you know the outline of our first step.

1.) We have three committees (Planning, Message and Outreach).

2.) The theme for 9/11 actions is “loss” and we are calling it FROM TRAGEDY TO TYRANNY.

3.) We are designing actions to be taken at the media centers calling attention to the assault on the Constitution and the compliancy of the media in this assault.

OUR NEXT MEETING IS MONDAY AUGUST 27th at 7pm in the gym at Trinity United Methodist (6512 23rd Ave. NW 98117)

*** Folks working on “props” are meeting at 5pm

*** FOR OUTREACH contact Rita at metermaid@juno.com

Direct quote from the just published REAGAN DIARIES.

The entry is dated May 17, 1986.

'A moment I've been dreading. George brought his ne're-do-well son around this morning and asked me to find the kid a job. Not the political one who lives in Florida. The one who hangs around here all the time looking shiftless. This so-called kid is already almost 40 and has never had a real job. Maybe I'll call Kinsley over at The New Republic and see if they'll hire him as a contributing editor or something. That looks like easy work.'

We got the “mo” moving … come and join your voice to this Peace & Justice choir.
