Letter from Senator Diane Feinstein

Recently, Richard Gage wrote to Senator Diane Feinstein about the evidence for explosive demolition of the 3 WTC buildings. This is Senator Feinstein's response:

Subject: {Disarmed} U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein responding to your message

Dear Mr. Gage:

Thank you for writing to me with your thoughts on the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 and the continuing government response. I appreciate your comments and welcome the opportunity to respond.

The National Commission on Terrorist Attacks on the United States closed on August 21, 2004 after releasing the 9/11 Commission Report. The Commission was highly critical of the governments actions, citing a lack of imagination to envision the full scope of what a host of prior terrorist events meant for U.S. homeland security as well as a failure to connect the dots that might have led to the revelation of the 9/11 plot. The Commission also provided several important recommendations to reorganize government to fight the battle against terror. If you would like to view a full copy of the Commission's report, copies are available at many bookstores and through the 9-11 Commission's website at http://www.9-11commission.gov.

On December 5, 2005 the 9/11 Public Discourse Project, comprised of several members of the 9/11 Commission, followed up on the Commission's recommendations with a progress report and found significant remaining deficiencies in government policy which we continue to work to remedy.

The 9/11 Commission Report did not find evidence of intentional Government complicity in the September 11 terrorist attacks. The Commission was a bipartisan group comprised of many respected leaders who worked exhaustively over many months reviewing millions of records and conducting countless interviews - including of the President and Vice President of the United States. Even if you feel their criticism of the Government might have gone further or uncovered more, I believe our current efforts are best focused on trying to implement the improvements recommended by the Commission - an area in which we still have much work to do. I remain committed to the pursuit of policies that protect Americans from terrorism while safeguarding important civil liberties and will keep your thoughts in mind as I review related legislation.

Again, thank you for writing. If you have any further comments, please contact my Washington, D.C. office at (202) 224-3841.

Sincerely yours,
Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator

One of our supporters had the following to say about the Tauscher and Feinstein reponses:

I read with utter disbelief the responses you received from your congressional reps. I am, however, not surprised because I have done the same in WI and received similar "form" type responses. As usual...no in
depth understanding of what is being posited was offered. Were I in your shoes I would be highly insulted by these letters considering your depth of experience and professional credentials. This proves emphatically that we are all being treated like useless idiots. This is especially insulting in that we pay the wages of these folks. We are in this together, we are the real Americans and we will never quit. Godspeed in your efforts.

Letter from Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher

We took 4 A/E members into Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher's office and presented for 1 hour the evidence for controlled demolition in the 3 WTC High-rise buildings to 2 of her senior staff. They were visibly stunned by the information and impressed by our presence and sincerity. They promised that this information (along with DVD's, etc.) would be placed in front of Congresswoman Tauscher and that they would request a direct presentation. However, all we received back was a mailed standard letter and now this email about 9 months later.

Dear Mr. Gage:
Thank you for informing me of your desire to re-open investigations regarding the national tragedies the United States experienced on September 11, 2001. I value your input on this issue, and I will keep your thoughts in mind as it develops.
Correspondence from constituents like you is essential to my work in Congress, and I hope that you will continue to inform me of your concerns. I appreciate hearing your ideas as I work to shape national policies to reflect the views of California's 10th District. All the 9/11 commission sham does.....

is give all these scumbag politicians an "out" so they don't have to answer anything.

All the have to do is point to that book and they're covered.

Dr. David Ray Griffin...

Was The 9/11 Commission Non-Partisan?

Chairman Kean and Vice Chairman Hamilton tell us that their Commission "sought to be independent, impartial, thorough, and nonpartisan". In this book, I will be asking whether these virtues are in fact embodied in the "9/11 Commission Report". Let us begin with the question of whether the Commission was "nonpartisan".

With this term, Kean and Hamilton allude to the fact that the Commission was composed of both Democrats and Republicans. This allusion suggest that the Commission would have succeeded in being nonpartisan if the Republicans did not blame everything on the Clinton Administration, and the Democrats did not behave in the opposite way. Those who watched the hearings on television know that there was considerable partisanship during the proceedings. In the end, however, the Commission came together sufficiently to produce a final report endorsed unanimously by all the Democrats and all the Republicans. Kean and Hamilton are obviously proud that the Commission did end up being nonpartisan in this sense, producing the report, as they say, "without dissent".

The Commission was also said to be nonpartisan in a purely factual sense, namely, that the Commission was comprised of an equal number of members from both parties - five Democrats and five Republicans.

One of the major problems with the Commission, however, was that it was not truly nonpartisan in a factual sense. There are two reasons why it was not. The first is that the chairman was a Republican. The vice chairman was, to be sure, a Democrat, but he was merely the vice chairman, not the co-chairman.

Even more important is the second reason why the Commission was not nonpartisan in a factual sense. The person who served as the Commission executive director, Philip D. Zelikow, is a Republican. This is important because as executive director, Zelikow was in charge of the Commission's staff, and it was these staff members - not the Commissioners we saw on television - who did most of the actual work of the Commission. The Commissioners would have carried out their own distinctive work - their discussions and interviews - on the basis of the material provided by the staff. Kean and Hamilton refer to this fact in their statement that the "professional staff, headed by Philip Zelikow,...conducted the exacting investigative work upon which the Commission was built".

The extent of Zelikow's influence on the Commission's processes has been commented on by Paul Sperry, who wrote, while the Commission was still working, that Zelikow:

"arguably has more sway than any member, including the chairman. Zelikow picks the areas of investigation, the briefing materials, the topics for hearings, the witnesses, and the lines of questioning for witnesses. In effect, he sets the agenda and runs the investigation."

This overwhelmingly important fact has been little commented on by the press. Kean and Hamilton have been the public face for the Commission. But the Commission's investigation was essentially run by Zelikow.

Later, Zelikow was in charge of overseeing the writing of the staff reports, many of which went virtually unchanged into the final report. And he was then in charge of editing the final report itself. Kean and Hamilton refer to this fact in their statement that the "professional staff, headed by Philip Zelikow, has contributed innumerable hours to the completion of this report". A Republican, therefore, oversaw both the investigative work and the writing of the final report.

Question...

"We took 4 A/E members into Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher's office and presented for 1 hour the evidence for controlled demolition in the 3 WTC High-rise buildings to 2 of her senior staff."

Did you have to make an appointment to see her senior staff or did you just walk in and ask for an hour of their time?

I think this is a brilliant idea for EVERYONE to do to their respective Representatives and Senators.

Well done.
