The Pierce Arrow's Coverage of the North East Premiere of Loose Change Final Cut

Note: The Pierce Arrow is the student run newspaper at Franklin Pierce University.

Sorry for not posting this sooner. here is an article written by Franklin Pierce University's new Grad-assistant, Josh Bond. The article is about the North East Premiere of Loose Change Final Cut at the Colonial Theatre in Keene, NH. The event was sponsored by Student Scholars for 9/11 Truth and the Monadnock 9/11 Truth Alliance. We were able to raise $1,000 dollars to donate to the 9/11 First Responders, many of which are very sick and are not being taken care of. Bond is a maverick, and I appreciate his support for what myself and the other members of Student Scholars for 9/11 Truth have been trying to do...

I do find it funny, however, that the Pierce Arrow titled the article "Documentary Premiers in Keene," instead of "9/11 Documentary Premiers in Keene," or "Loose Change Final Cut Premiers in Keene." Just a thought...

Documentary premiers in Keene
By: Joshua Bond

12/3/07: Franklin Pierce students Eric Jackman and Justin Martell took turns last Tuesday, November 27 calling out to Keene's Main Street through a bullhorn.

"Whether or not you believe the government was involved in September 11, there are thousands of people the government has turned their backs on. We will never turn our backs on our people," bellowed Jackman, growing increasingly ardent.

"This is real, folks. It's time to do something about it!"

Martell and Jackman, cofounders of Student Scholars for 9/11 Truth, were there to sponsor the premier of Loose Change: Final Cut, the third installment of a documentary series designed to expose the government's involvement in the 9/11 attacks.

Their efforts drew over 280 people to the Colonial Theater. Supporters and skeptics alike gathered for the show, and many stayed for the post-screening question and answer session with the filmmakers. Director Dylan Avery and producers Korey Rowe and Jason Bermas spent an hour addressing, in Rowe's words, the audience's "comments, complaints, bitches, likes, dislikes, what have you."

The skeptics had the first word.

"Let's assume this is all true. Let's assume the government coordinated the attack, killed 3000 of its own citizens, and then covered it all up. Why would they let three college students make a documentary about the biggest cover-up in history?"

The subtext wasn't lost on anyone. If they could orchestrate such a massive operation, couldn't they arrange for this movie or its makers to quietly disappear?

"It's in their best interests if we are alive," responded producer and Army veteran Rowe. "If we were killed it would give more validity to our cause. At least I hope so."

He shared a nervous laugh with the audience before lightly correcting the skeptical audience member.

"And we never went to college."

Though many of the questioners used the microphone to make elaborate claims as to their personal knowledge of top secret files or certainty that nuclear holocaust was upon us, there were those who voiced more palatable assertions. The filmmakers addressed the tendency of the media and public in general to group their documentary in with more deranged conspiracy theorists.

"You got people who say that no planes hit the towers. You got people who say lasers from planet Kropnar destroyed the towers. And then there's us," said Bermas.

And though it is based in decidedly more tangible claims, and though Final Cut is geared, according to Avery, "for people who absolutely cannot wrap their heads around the idea that the government was involved," it remains minimally appealing to people. After all, 280 people in a small theater in a small town is hardly a premier befitting such a legendary exposé.

But that's kind of the point. Most people don't give credence to the government involvement theory because it's easier not to. To open your mind to the possibility is to tear down all notions of security, justice, government, reason, truth, honesty and trust upon which we build so much of our lives. To believe the propositions put forth in Loose Change is to be utterly terrified. But unlike the government against which they rail, the producers of Loose Change do not wish to frighten. They aim to empower.

According to their website, "The central premise of Loose Change is that the government was, at the very least, criminally negligent in allowing the attacks of 9/11 2001 to occur." This is a claim which a substantially larger group of people can get behind.

In terms of appealing to substantially larger groups of people, the producers of Loose Change, in their view, must remain content to catch small groups in small theaters and to capitalize on the accessibility of the Internet. After brief consideration, they turned down Charlie Sheen's offer to narrate the film, and denied a deal with a major production studio.

"We want to preserve the integrity of our film," said Avery. "We encourage all of you to burn copies and put it on the web."

Good review!

Well, I wish

most articles on the subject were as fair and objective as this one.

Well done!

Bravo, Mr. Martell and company, very well done!

I think that it would be very instructive for all of us if you shared your promotional efforts in getting 280 people into the theater. For instance:

Did you have any print media or radio ads?

How much lead time in promoting the event did you have?

Did you promote the premiere with flyers and/or posters? If so, where and when?

Who was the primary target audience of your promotional efforts?

About how many people from outside the movement attended and how did they learn about the event?

How much did you charge for admission? Did you also ask for donations after the film finished?

Thank you and keep up the great work!

The truth shall set us free. Love is the only way forward.

We were able to do it with

We were able to do it with newspaper ads in all of the local papers and handing out literally thousands of flyers for the event.

Mr. Clever plays at scholastic philosopher and fits the enemy's mold exactly. Completely deluded but fancying himself a logician: perfect!

It didn't start with 9-11. From WWI and WWII and Vietnam to 9-11, phony pretexts of real carnage were known in advance by the 'great leader' who then had his way.

It's logical fallacy to think killings are not happening. The flaw is an assumption of obviousness. No. What happens are 'accidents' and 'suicides' like Gary Webb. Small beam devices can fibrilate a heart line-of-sight.
