The Shell Game
By Steve Alten

Product Description
The story opens in 2007 when two CIA spooks meet with an American Colonel in military intelligence. The war is going badly, and President Bush, who steadfastly refuses to back down, remains unchallenged at home as Democrats and Republicans continue to toss verbal grenades positioning themselves for the 2008 elections. Meanwhile, Iran s pursuit of nuclear energy will yield enriched uranium within five years, uranium that can be used to manufacture suitcase nukes. The United States military is too drained to invade Iran, and a preemptive strike is out of the question, unless a nuclear detonation were to occur in an American city, the enriched uranium traced back to Iran. A U.S. reprisal would strike a death-blow against radical Islam, quell the insurgent violence in Iraq, and yield more oil. Yes, the cost is unthinkable but if we sit back and do nothing then one day a dozen suitcase bombs could go off in a dozen American cities bringing with it anarchy and the collapse of Western civilization. December 2011: Ashley Ace Futrell is an oil expert working for PetroConsultants, married to Kelli Doyle, a former National Security Advisor and one of the CIA spooks from the opening scene. When Kelli threatens to expose the plot, Ace finds his existence hurtling down a rabbit s hole of deceit where the orchestrated lies of the powerful few could lead to the darkest days of human existence, and the death knell for billions.

Lets roll.

Peak Oil?

There are various takes on "peak oil". Does this book advance a myth that oil is near peak, empowering those who control its supply? Or maybe it really is at its peak. What is the most reasonable assumption here, based on the available evidence?

Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

"controlled" oil-energy more than "peak" oil

the book is so much more than any one subject. it covers a story with a foundation based on real 9/11 research and documents. It opens the doorway for many, including those who are big advocates for peak oil, but what is real is the more important nature of this book to caution us for what is lurking in the shadows, based on honest creative and talented 9/11 research by one hell of a good writer, Steve Alten.

But don't ask me, check The Shell Game review by Jehan Abdur-Raheem,

Peak Oil?

I struggled with the whole "peak oil" issue for a long time before I decided it was just not true. It is a whole topic within itself much like 9/11. On the surface there is much evidence that supports the idea that we are running out of oil and there is a greedy struggle in the political arena to control it. On the other hand how much of what we hear is "disinformation?" A conspiracy exists no matter what side of the issue you stand. The oil companies are either over reporting how much oil they have in reserve or they are under pumping to drive down the supply to increase profit. Then there's Lindsey Williams who claims there is 200 years of oil in Alaska that is known about but is being suppressed. Is he telling the truth or is he just trying to sell his book? What sways me against the idea of peak oil is the understanding of how our money works. The rising cost of oil isn't as much to do with the supply and demand of the oil as much as the increasing supply of our "dollars" which destroys its value. The reality is the value of our dollar is going down. My wife is from a small oil boom town in West Texas. The people there generally don't believe there is an oil shortage. Many of them say they have seen the oil and believe in a conspiracy to not pump American oil. One theory I heard was we just want to use their oil first and then once theirs is gone we'll have some sort of monopoly on the world oil supply. One question I have is how do we know that oil is a "fossil" fuel anyway? Is there DNA evidence of dinosaurs in oil? My seven year old is learning about dinosaurs in school. She's being told that there may be archaeological evidence of dinosaurs in Texas because of all the oil they found there. Nice to promote the idea of the "fossil fuel" theory at such an early age. Interestingly NASA recently reported evidence of an abundance of oil on Titan, one of Saturn's moons. When were dinosaurs roaming around on Titan I wonder. One thing is for sure that whether you believe in peak oil or you don't we all believe 911 was an inside job. Let's get that out in the open first. There will be plenty of time to debate peak oil after we expose the criminals about 911. I'm all for promoting the book in the interest of 911.

Peak Oil

This is hotly contested issue in a lot of ways. The origin of hydro-carbon fuels is still being debated but from what I have learned, the main theory is that it is derived mostly from plant fossils and marine organisms on ancient seabeds along with a mix of animal remains (dinosaurs??). Another theory I'm currently reading about is called Deep Hot Biosphere. The author claims hydrogen and carbon molecules are produced deep in the earths crust and work their way up to the surface.
What I find the most compelling argument for Peak Oil is the sheer numbers. They are so enormous I can't get my meager head around them.
90 million barrels per day consumption worldwide. This has been going on 365 days a year for the past 20-30 years and at a lesser extent going back to the late 19th century. That's an awful lot of liquid and if it takes millions of years to produce and decades to deplete, the obvious conclusion is that it cannot go on at this rate for long.
The other disturbing fact is there is nothing that comes even close to the energy produced by petroleum.
That is how I understand the situation based on my objective research.
I remain open minded.
BTW I have watched the Lindsey Williams presentation and I find he is the only one promoting it. I'm sure there is oil in Alaska. How much though???

peak oil

peak oil is real . . it just means that we've reached the maximum earth oil output . . . it doesn't mean that we're running out of oil. the supply curve is leveling out while the demand curve continues on its space shuttle trajectory.

what we're running out of is "cheap oil" . . . . the more energy it takes to extract the oil, the less net energy gain . . . oil shale takes so much energy to extract that its almost a wash . . .the last big reserve of "cheap oil" is Iraq (where it leaks into people's basements) where its been kept relatively underground due to our continuous embargos and bombing. cheap oil is what allows us to build huge black roads with rivers of petite women driving lincoln navigators talking on their cell-phones driving two blocks to the 7-11 to get a gallon of milk.

i do agree that the version of peak oil theory being sold by the corporations and their solutions are bogus and self serving and they are trying to establish a carbon tax to fund their global ambitions . .

but the science of "peak oil" is sound . . . Michael Ruppert's predictions so far have been remarkably accurate.

Respectfully disagree

I love all your contibutions on this site AJFan but we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. I've looked at the evidence and I think the whole game is about control. I'm sure you've read these:

There is room for honest debate on this issue but the important thing is to expose the truth about 911. We all can agree to that. Hell I bought the book!

By the way, have you read anything recent about Michael Ruppert?

I appreciate the discussion

I appreciate the discussion on peak oil. Let's remain solid on 9/11. This is the most important issue

Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

I agree

But as Mr Alten was promoting the Peak Oil Theory on television the other week it's only fair to see both sides of the argument.

Even if Peak Oil is "REAL"

Its not Peak Energy.

There are Abundant Alternative Energy Sources.

Once we get past the Gatekeeping Monopolistic Energy Corporations.

The usual suspects.

I know people in the Oil Industry.

All I can say is that FOR SURE , peak oil is contrived. Ruppert is very wrong on this.

However, take it as just my opinion. Everybody has a right to their point of view and I will certainly respect yours.

Regardless, the scarcity of energy and future water supplies is "MANAGED" by our "friends" in the corridors of power.

Even if the oil was in abundant supply (which it is , just like the 1970's Energy Crisis), "they" control the taps and manipulate it to maximize financial gain and indulge in their greed.

911 Truth is a lot bigger than what had happened on that Tuesday.

It is going to expose the Corruption of the International Military Industrial Complex of whom those who manipulate and control the Energy Markets is amongst the 1st and Foremost.

G. O. D.

The middle name is Oil.

Guns. Oil. Drugs.
The CONSTITUTION is NOT going to "collapse" into pulverized dust no matter how much thermate/explosives or planes they throw at it

Peak oil and Hubbert's Curve were hotly debated

within the oil industry for about two decades until U.S. field data proved the theory valid in the early 1970's. After this point it became widely accepted within the industry, but not publicly acknowledged or promoted for all the obvious reasons. It takes millions of years to create petroleum and there is only so much of it in the ground.

The "peak" has been flattened and stretched to form more of a "wobbly plateau" in order to prolong the relatively short era of oil and give time for the elites to make their transition to other forms of energy while maintaining control and reducing total energy demand (i.e. world population). This has been and is being accomplished through a combination of targeted demand destruction and artificially created supply constrictions.

No one can look at the current demand and supply curves and not see a serious problem for humanity within the present paradigm.

There is a positive way forward, but it involves exposing the goals, strategies and tactics of the elites and empowering the people of the world to create a sustainable future. Hence, the importance of 9/11 truth and the truth movement.

Keep up the great work, brothers and sisters, be the change we want to see in the world (Gandhi).

The truth shall set us free. Love is the only way forward.
