General Petraeus to Head U.S. Central Command

Apr. 23 - With the resignation last month of Admiral William Fallon, President Bush is now free to replace him with someone more open to military engagement with Iran.

As CENTCOM is the headquarters for all operations in the Middle East, having it headed by someone who is hawkish towards Iran is of the utmost importance to the neocon warmongers who want nothing more than to attack Iran before leaving office next January.

Admiral Fallon described himself as "the only thing standing between the Bush Administration and war with Iran" in an article in Esquire Magazine. Now, with CENTCOM being headed by someone who recently testified to Congress that "unchecked, the Iranian-backed 'special groups' pose the greatest long-term threat to the viability of a democratic Iraq," nothing stands between the neocons and their "great war."

From Reuters: At a Pentagon news conference, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates announced President Bush would nominate Gen. David Petraeus to head the U.S. Central Command.

As leader of Central Command, Petreaus would oversee U.S. military operations in the Middle East, including Iraq and Afghanistan. Currently, Petraeus is the top U.S. commander in Iraq. If approved, Gates said Petraeus would most likely leave Iraq late summer or early fall. Gates also announced the nomination of Lt. Gen. Ray Odierno to replace Petraeus in Iraq. Gates urged the U.S. Senate to approve the nominations by Memorial Day.

A Memorial Day confirmation would almost certainly allow for a summer or fall campaign against Iran, possibly due to a false flag or Gulf of Tonkin-style incident blamed on Iran preceding the attack. If the approval of Petraeus is confirmed, as it is expected to be, one of the Bush administration's last pieces will fall into place allowing for a full-scale war with Iran.

You can contact your Senators asking them to vote no on the confirmation of General Petraeus as head of CENTCOM. To do so head over to www.senate.gov and click the links to find your two Senators' contact information. As always a polite, respectful tone will have the greatest impact.

If...

They aren't planning on attacking Iran, they sure as hell are making it seem like they are.

Why isn't Dick Cheney in prison?

Yeah

Heard about it.

They are getting desperate and putting in, frankly - a boot licking promotion grabbing traitor to pave the way to Tehran.

The only problem is war is not a video game played by chicken hawks in their video consoles and plasma displays back in Florida, D.C. etc.

No war can ever be won by Air Power alone.

And the Greater Battle for the Hearts and Minds of the People has already been lost.

We have poor generals(in the majority) to say the least.

An a retarded unelected chicken hawk warmonger-warcriminal who may end up experiencing the same type of isolation Hitler felt in his bunker in the last days of WW2 as both the Red Army and Allied Forces converged upon Berlin.

The Navy is being led into a death trap into the Persian Gulf.

Its a pity Scott Ritter does not have any exposure in the MSM.

And I am sure the Swiss will be real happy to find out the multi-billion 25 yr Gas-Deal with Tehran may just go up in tactical nuclear flames.

And Pakistan and Russia and China and Venenzuela and Saudia Arabia etc will be expected to applaud.

........ think not.

We are overextended and broken as it is. Only a fool will go to war at a time such as this.

Fox Fallon has already warned us.

Is the Congress listening.
