I am calling all Americans to ask for the resignation of Rep. Jane Harman for introducing H.R. 1955 [Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007]. I have provided a sample letter and encourage people to copy and paste if needed, add to or create their own original letter. I would like to jog your memory: you swore an oath to uphold and protect the constitution which is why I am appalled that you would introduce H.R. 1955 [Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007].

This Act is not only unconstitutional but, undercuts our [American] fundamental rights.

This Act sets the stage for the criminalization of our fundamental rights to free speech, to peaceably assemble and to petition the government for redress of grievances [1st amendment of the Bill of Rights].

I would like to remind you that the 1st amendment says, ‘Congress shall make no law…’

I would like to educate you on a few issues.

America was founded by ‘advancing a political, religious, and social change (extremist for the time period).

Yates v. United States, the court wrote that the ‘advocacy of forcible overthrow of the government’ was protected speech under the 1st amendment of the Bill of Rights.

Noam Chomsky said, “If you believe in freedom of speech, you believe in freedom of speech for views you don't like.”

This is the basic foundation of the 1st amendment of the Bill of Rights.

The Declaration of Independence says, “That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government…”

I wonder if these ideals would get John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Robert R. Livingston or Roger Sherman convicted under your ‘homegrown terrorist’ label.

In law, treason is the crime that covers acts of disloyalty to one’s sovereign (which is the state/people). If you took an oath to uphold and protect the constitution and if you are supposed to represent the people and protect their rights then what would you call it then you are trying to pass an Act that destroys such rights and constitution?

As an American I am asking for your letter of resignation.

You are right, this waste of tax payer's public servant's time is a threat to the Republic, the Constitution, the People, Our Nation, Our Security, Our Civil Liberties and Our Human Rights.

I called a few different Senate offices before the end of the year last year to find out what was going on; all the staffers told me they were getting calls daily on it, almost all opposed- i was told by i forget which office- Claire McCaskill? that it's going to sit in Committee until they decide to schedule it for debate, which is always public. One staffer seemed skeptical it would make it that far, considering the public outcry- they said "they're reviewing the text"- wish those "public servants", who pretend to be our "representatives" had read the treasonous piece of trash before voting for it- Kucinich and Paul had good statements on it, as i recall.

I was very disappointed that Harman got the nom over Marcy Winograd for 06, and hope she gets knocked out in the next "election"- if a letter writing campaign can get her to resign now, before she does any more damage, even better- perhaps a letter writing campaign to all the House members who voted for it; withdraw your vote (or whatever the procedure is- pass a new bill?), resign and blow the whistle on what's really being going on with THE PEOPLE's government- or be defeated and disgraced in 08, and unemployable afterward

It is vague and could lead to criminal prosecutions for nonviolent protest if it affects future profits. The law purports to allow activity protected by the First Amendment but ACLU was concerned it might not and asked for change in language which was not done.

one of the tactics seems to be trying to set precedent with language and slipping it under the radar in bills that the public dismisses as kooks- animal rights activists, environmentalists, peace activists, 9/11 truthers, etc. Then they test the public's level of awareness and concern for the erosions of rights and liberties by arresting and trying some, setting more precedent and creating social constructs, paradigms, institutions, channels for tax funds, etc. Hype the fear and distract the People- pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

I finally got a letter back from her (and have temporarily buried it somewhere) about the status of Phase 2 of the Senate Inquiry into the use of Pre-Iraq War Intelligence by the White House; she basically said she was committed to an investigation, and as an example cited something she did in protest of the Republican obstruction in 2005!!! After repeated calls, I finally got this letter a month or 2 after faxing a request demanding an explanation in writing, of the status. When i find it, i will be posting it, probly at opednews as it's not really 9/11 related.

It looked like a form letter, so if you want accountability from Feinstein, fax your own demand. I was also sorry when she got back in in 06. Her vote swung Mukasey in as AG, and she's used it to help create many other atrocities in the name of preserving the Establishment, instead of defending the Constitution
