Almost half of Britons apparently believe in captive space aliens [and 38% think 9/11 was an inside job]

blah, blah, blah, then:

"And despite the horror of the 9/11 attacks, more than one in three (38 per cent) are sure the twin towers atrocity was part of a plot backed by the US government to create an excuse to invade Iraq and Afghanistan.

A third of respondents pointed to a "lack of debris" outside the Pentagon crash site as proof that all is not as it seems."

I couldn't find the actual poll; please post as a blog entry if you do, or just put a link in the comments

What a strange sentence

What does the "horror" of 9/11 have to do with people's assessment of the evidence?

i suppose

that kind of framing works on those who are still brainwashed? i.e. it was a horrible atrocity so of course elements in the US govt. couldn't be involved, because only honorable people will lie their nation into war and let thousands drown in a hurricane. And only honorable people enable those who do such things, i.e. Congress by not impeaching and removing, while continuing to fund the war and not overturning the so-called "authorization" for the use of "force"
