How mainstream thought attempts to disarm conspiracy theories.

Someone started a thread over in the General Discussion forum at Democraticunderground.com on how the mainstream attempts to link people who question the establishment or mainstream position on issues like 911 as suffering from delusions or mental illness. Here's the link if you want to check it out.

The original post at DU links to an ABC News story What's Behind Internet Conspiracy Empires? - As Conspiracy Communities Grow, Mental Health Docs Are Left With Big Questions,

There are a lot of good responses indicating many of the DUers are awake to the possibility that the mainstream media and governments intentionally do mislead the public, although the mods at DU try to keep any discussion of conspiracy oriented material out of the main discussion groups like GD. Just be aware that if you decide to post a comment on the DU thread, and get too overtly into issues surrounding 911 or other conspiracies, the mods might ban the thread to the "911 dungeon," a less prominent and much less visible forum where a more freewheeling discussion on 911 and other conspiracies is allowed.
