Boy, did I open a can of worms today at the press conference for "Rescue Me," the great Denis Leary comedy. It's back (soon) for a fifth season, and in watching the second episode I noticed the show drifting back to the 9/11 memories theme it explored at length in the first season. So I grabbed a microphone and pursued that questioning with the producers, and I asked a couple of the actors to chime in as well.
One person I asked was Daniel Sunjata, who plays Franco on "Rescue Me." I asked him because there is this fascinating, where-did-THIS-come-from scene in the second episode. A French journalist is interviewing firemen who were at Ground Zero on 9/11 for a new 10th-anniversary commemorative coffee table book. First, watch what Sunjata's character says. I would call this high-end conspiracy theory-mongering, the type that many people might say, "Hm. Well, I don't agree, but you raise some very interesting points there."

I have seen Daniel talk about 911 Truth and know that he is one of us. I just remember seeing Leary at his book signing. He was not on board. And FX is owned by FOX isn't it?

Thank you all for responding to this so warmly AND for your healthy skepticism as to how and why this plot line was allowed onto the airwaves in the first place; a question I have been asking myself since I first read the scripts. At any rate, the mere mention of 9/11 as an inside job on a MSM outlet is rare indeed. So putting aside my skepticism, I have decided for now to view this as an accomplishment for and by the movement as a whole (and of course for the victims' and their families as well as the 1st responders and all those directly affected by this atrocity). If there had been no LooseChange, no Charlie Sheen, no Richard Gage, no Rosie, no Alex Jones, no David Ray Griffin, no Steven Jones etc., then I would certainly not have seen and read the proofs which have solidified me in my convictions, and consequently would never have embarked on the path which seems to have led to this small victory of getting the discussion onto Rescue Me. As written, I can confirm that the subject was treated more fairly than it has been in anything I have seen thus far (i.e. The His-story Channel/BBC/etc). Franco certainly stirs up a bee's nest of differing reactions inside and outside of the firehouse but does not end up wearing a dunce cap when the plot line draws to a close. It is left for the audience to either dismiss or to further investigate; obviously we are hoping for the later : ) Having said that, there is a lot of time left before our premier date and things can be edited and changed in post production so time will tell. The scene that was leaked, however, was exactly as we shot it, so I am hopeful that in the final analysis we will get a fair shake. I commend all of you for your persistence, your bravery, and your patriotism. Much love to you all.

With the end of the bullying Bush era, and media criticism becoming more frequent (see Keith Olberman here http://www.911blogger.com/node/19129#comment,) maybe the rest of the timid mainstream media will find the courage to ask the questions they should have pursued for the past 7 plus years.
