Preface: To those who believe that all 9/11 conspiracy claims are crazy, please listen to what the actual intelligence officers, military leaders, legal experts, and others in the know have to say. On the other hand, to those who believe that 9/11 was an inside job - so that talk of mere "negligence" is a cop-out, please read to the end before making up your mind about strategy. As David Ray Griffin has pointed out, nearly everyone who looks at the evidence regarding 9/11 with an open mind ends up being convinced that it was an inside job. Any prosecution related to 9/11 will force people to look at the evidence.
Gangsters have been jailed for life based on convictions for tax fraud.
Investigations into small misdeeds often turn up evidence of major crimes.
And covering up the crime is itself a crime. Even if the prosecutor isn't sure how you did it, if he can prove you covered up the crime, destroyed evidence, committed perjury, etc., you'll end up in the big house.
So if government agencies are too spineless to prosecute for anything else, prosecuting those complicit in 9/11 for criminal negligence and/or cover-up is worthwhile.
Is there strong evidence of criminal negligence with regard to the 9/11 attacks?
Is there strong evidence for a cover-up and destruction of evidence?
Without doubt. See this and this.
Now is the perfect time to prosecute criminal behavior.
9/11 is no exception.
If the only politically feasible way to do it is to start with a prosecution solely for criminal negligence or cover-up, then start there.

I remember it was on the evening news that the firefighters found three of the four boxes of the WTC, so somewhere in TV land, there should even be archives of this discovery. When is the real investigation coming?

C'mon....
the removal of ALL the steel, dust, etc., alone is enough to prosecute. It was a CRIME SCENE, for cryin' out loud!! The airplane that went into the Hudson River wasn't a crime scene, however it was recovered & is being looked at to see what went wrong to avoid another problem in the future with another aircraft.
So, therefore,at the very least, shouldn't the WTC debris be looked at to determine how THREE buildings fell into their own footprint, cement being pulverized into dust & steel being destroyed into 30 foot sections due to jet fuel & office fires, to avoid it from happening again? Especially since WTC 7 was NEVER hit by a plane & fell into it's own footprint hours after the planes struck!
All that material was carted off & NEVER even closlely looked at! Talk about strong evidence for a cover-up & destruction of evidence. Sheesh!!! Where IS the justice?

When the perpatrators control the investigation.......
the first thing they do is eliminate the evidence to impede any possible later investigation.
This act of destroying the evidence and not performing a legitimate forensic analysis should speak volumes to any mature person.
Of course, we now know that the examination of the steel by engineers at Freshkills landfill was only superficial at best. It now seems like this was intentionally done to give the appearrance that a forensic examination and determination of failure sequences was occurring.
There was a reason that George W. Bush's crony and appointed FEMA director, Joseph Albaugh, had people that he would have appointed in NYC on Sept. 10, 2001, with the cover of being there for a bio-terror drill on Sept. 12, 2001. They immediately took control of the investigation. Who was going to question their authority? This was FEMA afterall. 911 couldn't have been done without also stealing the 2000 presidential election. That gave the perpetrators the unquestioned authority that allowed them to get away with it.
The entire destruction of evidence issue is the very first thing a new investigation could and should look into.

Good point about the differences. Moreover, everyone survived the Hudson miracle (thankfully) but still it had immediate DOT press conferences, official information releases and investigation about the airplane as opposed to delays and coverups. The other glaring difference is that the videotapes from surveillance from the Hudson River miracle landing were immediately available whereas in the case of the Pentagon, etc., they were collected and hidden by the FBI apparently to never be released.
