CIA Director Admits Lying to Congress since at least 2001

Democracy now today is reporting that CIA Director Panetta admits to misleading congress since 2001. The 2001 date is very interesting. That and the fact that this is related to an "unspecified matter" makes this very pertinent.

Incredulous

The CIA lying? Can't be! Who ever thought that an intelligence agency would ever be caught lying, let alone an American intelligence agency!

pertinence

'... since 2001,' another possibly interesting nugget.

oops

that was your point, sorry. I'll go back to sleep.

Pelousy lying too

She was supposed to investigate even in private any allegations of the CIA of the illegal use of torture no matter how mild and she didn't do it.

Clarification

Just so people won't interpret this as Panetta's admitting to his own lying--what he's admitting to is the lying of the agency of which he is (supposedly) now in charge, extending back to Tenet's directorship. (Of course, we know the lying and misleading goes back a lot further!)

Did...

Something happen in 2001? A cover-up to something started sometime in 2001 if I remember correctly, but I can't quite place it.

Do these people deserve to know how and why their loved ones were murdered? Do we deserve to know how and why 9/11 happened?

You're thinking of the Chandra Levy murder

Don't worry: They pinned it on an illegal immigrant from El Salvador.

That whole affair with Gary Condit was just a coincidence.

Right...

Right... now I remember.
