Arianna Huffington: I "despise" 9/11 Truther conspiracies

Not that this should surprise any of us, but at least now it's on record (and explains the censorship of 9/11 Truth at Huffington Post). Here are Arianna Huffington's recent comments, following the resignation of Van Jones:

"More full disclosure: I despise 9/11 "truther" conspiracies. Indeed, one of the guidelines for bloggers on HuffPost is a ban on posts putting forth those kinds of theories. And it was stupid of Van to put his name on a very stupid "9/11 Truth Statement." I've spoken to Van. He doesn't believe that the Bush administration orchestrated the 9/11 attacks or allowed the attacks to happen in a cold-hearted attempt to gin up support. The 9/11 "Truthers" are fringe-dwellers and Van was completely wrong to allow himself to be associated with them."

Puffington Host

Didn't get my comment up, even with a 9/11 truther story I was still censored. Arianna get your head out of the sand. The Puffington Host is just on online version of the MSM.

Enough of Huff

I immediately upon reading that, dumped my subscription, and told her I was sure many would follow, dismissals of HP. Also, in that email, expressing disgust, and reminding them, that they are oblivious to the awareness of the American public, I suggest all of us do that, and let them be overwhelmed by our numbers. Possibly a public apology addressing us, could follow, should follow, but who is to say? Ms. Huff made a serious error.

The most severe form of learning disorders are owned by those that "already know everything."

What a slap in the face...

To the family members asking the same questions, and demanding the same accountability.

Do these people deserve to know how and why their loved ones were murdered? Do we deserve to know how and why 9/11 happened?

Call Arianna Huffington...

...they won't let you leave a message for her but just bombard them with phone calls telling them they are the crazies for ignoring all the evidence.

and expressed my concern.... hope everyone else floods their message box too!

"...The 9/11 "Truthers" are

"...The 9/11 "Truthers" are fringe-dwellers........"

How fringe is this?

831 architectural and engineering professionals and 4578 other supporters including A&E students
have signed the petition demanding of Congress a truly independent investigation.

The CONSTITUTION is NOT going to "collapse" into pulverized dust no matter how much thermate/explosives or planes they throw at it

Zogby Poll 2009...........

Are 51 percent of Americans "fringe dwellers?" (Who want a new 9/11 investigation). Are 66 percent of New Yorkers "fringe dwellers?"

Let's do a 2009 Zogby Poll. For NY state especially.

Project Censored and Air America are "fringe dwellers?" Bust Huffpo on being anti-science and pro-censorship.

whenever debunkers are forced to confront these polls, they always claim the respondents are misinformed, stupid, or whatever.

It's like the South Park episode that claimed 1/3 of Americans are "retarded". Probably true, but as they say in the social sciences, "Relation does not mean causation." That is, debunkers can't prove WHY people respond to a poll in a certain way.

I know, but I also know about this post at Fire Dog Lake

First of all... a definition of "veal pen" from urban dictionary so I can appropriately not post more than a couple of paras from Jane Hamsher FDL post

1. veal pen

the veal pen is an individual's cube in the feed lot that is corporate america. the unsuspecting worker occupying the cube is kept in the dark and restrained to keep him or her tender until he or she is butchered

"jonesy is stuck in the veal pen until he closes the krupke deal. after that, he's headed to the slaughterhouse"

now, from Fire Dog Lake...

"Van Jones: A Moment of Truth For Liberal Institutions in the Veal Pen
By: Jane Hamsher Sunday September 6, 2009 11:24 am

I first met Van Jones when he was honored last year by the Campaign for America's Future at their gala dinner. He was being swarmed by all of the liberal institutional elite, who just could not be more full of praise for the impressive environmental leader and prison reform organizer. Everybody wanted Van Jones on their board. Everyone wanted him at their fundraisers. Everyone wanted a piece of his formidable limelight.

Now he's been thrown under the bus by the White House for signing his name to a petition expressing something that 35% of all Democrats believed as of 2007 -- that George Bush knew in advance about the attacks of 9/11. Well, that and calling Republicans "assholes." I'm pretty sure that if you search through the histories of every single liberal leader at the CAF dinner that night, they have publicly said that and worse...."

"....If there is going to be a serious progressive movement in this country capable of standing up for health care against an industry that spends $1.4 million a day on lobbying, we can't just look to the members of the Progressive Caucus and say "hey, you, get something done." They need cover. They need to know that they will be supported. And people like Van Jones who have given their lives to causes we say we value like prison reform and environmental advocacy need to know that they will be defended, and not handed over to Glenn Beck as an acceptable casualty in the battle for K-Street dollars.

So to all you liberal organizations in the "veal pen" -- this is your moment of truth. I get all your emails. And the next Common Purpose meeting is probably on Tuesday. If you can't get it together to at least put out a statement of support for Van Jones and condemn the White House for using him as a sacrificial lamb to right wing extremists that will devour us all if left unchecked, it's time to add "proudly liberal only when it doesn't matter" to your logo and be done with it...."
PLEASE, PLEASE go to Fire Dog Lake to read Jane Hamsher post...

I found this via Brad Blog. His reccomendation got me there.
posted a comment on the thread at FDL, introduced myself... said "Hi I'm Adam (Adam503 there, Adam1 was taken on Twitter) and I'll be your 9/11 Truther this evening"

-Brought the subject of a truce between various Progressive schools of thought in regards how we react to controversial opinions
-Brought up Richard Gage speaking at the Commonwealth Club tonight (great timing!)

It's comment 203 on the thread I posted the link big response from people there, but nobody has banned my account after I posted all the details of Richard Gage's speech tonight to the Commonwealth Club either.

I'd really like to see this truce happen with Progressives.

what a shill, what a disappointment.

You misquoted her

She said,

More full disclosure: I despise 9/11 "truther" conspiracies.

Please fix this.

I changed it.

You're welcom

I thought that after the worst terrorist attack in history, people were united in the cause of tracking down the perpetrators and bringing them to justice. I thought that everyone who put flags on their cars was dedicated to that cause. What happened to that energy? Arianna and anyone else who does not accept the truth is essentially saying "I don't care if they get away with 9/11. Facing them is not worth getting uncomfortable over."

Maybe Arianna Should go out

Maybe Arianna Should go out on a date with Markos Moulitsas. God made the two for each other.

Huffie is an establishment figure whose entire existence is tied up in outdated party politics. She has chained herself to the titanic; when someone offers her the key to remove her shackles, she rejects it. She is convinced that the ship can right itself and avoid the iceberg. She is in denial.

Apparently, a great many people are able to block out information that contradicts their worldview. They don't assimilate the new information and adjust their worldview accordingly, they filter it out through some bizarre mental alchemy and sublimate their anger onto the party that has shaken their religious belief system.

The other possibility is rationalization. We all do this in small ways. Figures in the public eye, especially in the realm of politics, rationalize lying by imagining that they are doing it for the "greater good". A progressive intellectual may avoid 911 truth because they are frightened of being labeled a "wacky conspiracy theorist" and having their reputation destroyed; others -- say, people in the US military who witnessed what actually occurred -- may rationalize their complicity by imagining that if they came forward, the system would collapse, resulting in "anarchy".

Van Jones himself is being used as a warning to other would-be supporters of 911 truth. Touch this with a ten foot pole, and we're gonna ruin you. He handled it in exactly the wrong way, backpeddling then resigning anyway.

I have no doubt that there are a lot of shills running about, but 911 also teaches us the power of psychological defense mechanisms. We sometimes wonder why women stay with abusive spouses. We wonder why kidnap victims who are held for long periods don't run away when they are given the chance ("Stockholm syndrome"). These examples, along with the bizarre responses by otherwise intelligent people to 911 truth, demonstrate how rational defense mechanisms can become exceedingly irrational, to the point of self-destruction.

When someone has a clear class interest in preserving the status quo, it becomes all the more difficult.

It is for these reasons that I don't advocate spending alot of time trying to "convince" people like Huffington that they are wrong. We have had a great deal of success bypassing both mainstream and alternative media, and we will continue to do so. As Jello said, "Don't hate the media. Become the media."

"She is in denial.

Excellent analysis Danse. One of the BEST I have seen here at 911Blogger in a long time.

You make several good points.

People are tied down to the Titanic indeed. An unquestioning blinded belief that does not use common sense to filter and analyze information will never lead to Basic Truth and Scientific Fact.

The tragedy of 911 Truth is that it shows how advanced "developed" nations / economies like the USA, Great Britain, France , Spain, Italy etc can accept in mass, the Scientific and Factual Fallacy of 911 as a purely "Osama" job.

Too many pundits, journalists, analysts, politicians have left the Military Industrial Complex out of the Equation.

In the end, the boys AND girls at the Federal Reserve keep pulling the strings at the HuffingtonPosts AND Washington Posts of the media. Mass mind control and deception. Not NEWS but LIES. Pure & Simple.

The handwriting is on the wall. Its just a matter of time.

Mu ultimate belief is that Common Sense Will AND Should prevail. If more people did their own math and added up the facts, they would have come to the right conclusions.

A long time ago.

Thanks for your input. Hope to see you post more often here.

The CONSTITUTION is NOT going to "collapse" into pulverized dust no matter how much thermate/explosives or planes they throw at it

Right-wing nutters still hammering at Van Jones

Incredibly, they think this statement by Jones on September 13, 2001 is Jones saying America "deserved" 9/11:

"The bombs the government drops in Iraq are the bombs that blew up in New York City. The US cannot bomb its way out of this one. Safety at home requires justice abroad."

Even though the connection between Iraq and 9/11 is (we know now) spurious, the connection of wayward foreign policy and the attacks of 9/11 (as they were understood at the time) is perfectly reasonable.

Jones was not saying America "deserved" 9/11. He was saying you can't commit war crimes abroad and expect the victims never to retaliate.

...are people who sell wet t-shirts for $20 with the promise to send $1 to the 9/11 First Responders. Since then it has simply been a term used by propagandists to denigrate the 9/11 Truth movement.

So if Arianna despises them, it's OK. She's has a need to despise.

Let's get back to conducting the independent investigation of 9/11.

The person..

who I initially helped build the content for took the site in a ridiculous direction soon thereafter. I immediately removed myself from the project when the site starting selling "truther ringtones" and displaying women in wet t-shirts. He has since exposed himself to the group here, took down the site, and has since dropped out completely once realizing that there is no way to profit off 9/11 truth. I apologize for providing the help to build the initial content base of that. But I will always consider myself a truther. Thanks for your work Kevin.

I can vouch...

For Abby.

Do these people deserve to know how and why their loved ones were murdered? Do we deserve to know how and why 9/11 happened?

Does anybody know the details of the 911 petition PROCESS?

This article implies a bait and switch by However, it's still not clear to me if the signers of the petition all had visible, obvious copies of the final verbiage, accessible to them, before they signed. Anybody know what the exact details are? E.g., were the signers approached with an email or with a physical letter? Did this email or letter have a link to a web page, where the signers could input their information? If so, did that web page have not just the 4 demands mentioned by Lerner and Zinn, below, but also the questions as well as the most controversial part, viz. " which calls for immediate public attention to unanswered questions that suggest that people within the current administration may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war."

Rabbi Michael Lerner:

I was asked to sign a letter which I was told had four demands:
As Americans of conscience, we ask for four things:

1. An immediate investigation by New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer
2. Immediate investigation in Congressional Hearings.
3. Media attention to scrutinize and investigate the evidence.
4. The formation of a truly independent citizens-based inquiry.

I did not authorize my name to be used for all the other stuff that I now see was included surrounding the letter, namely the sponsors of that, and would not have had I been aware that all that stuff was presented in ways that suggested that I agreed with it, and though I do recognize a few of the people I'd consider "nut cases" among the list of signatories, my guess is that most of those who signed were, like me, unaware of the context in which our names would appear.

Howard Zinn:

(Howard) Zinn sent me a curt email in response to a question of whether he'd intended to suggest Bush's complicity in the attacks: "I did not sign a statement suggesting that 'Bush had prior knowledge.' I signed a statement calling for an investigation.

If the signers were kept in the dark about the final verbiage, then I'd say that owes an apology to the all the signers - not just Van Jones. Otherwise, I'd say that it just looks like Van Jones is a moral coward. By which I mean, he's allowed to change his mind and even express regret. It's moral cowardice, though, to lie about the circumstances of the petition signing.

Problem is, I still can't figure out exactly what that was.

From what I understand,

Is working on gathering emails (from 5 years ago, not exactly an easy thing to do, why didn't the media cover the petition back then when it was fresh in everyone's mind?). Rob Kall signed it, and posted this on facebook this morning, "Working on pulling together the article which weaves together the great response to my letter to others who signed the 911 truth statement. I asked them to stand with Van Jones as people who signed the document who were NOT 911 Truthers, but rather, people wanting further investigations. Getting a strong response."

Do these people deserve to know how and why their loved ones were murdered? Do we deserve to know how and why 9/11 happened?

I'be probably put well over 50 comments

@ huffington post regarding the farud of 9.11

I don't like Ariana's comments, but the site is not as censored as Daily Kos.
