Poll: News media's credibility plunges to new low

SAN FRANCISCO – The news media's credibility is sagging along with its revenue.

Nearly two-thirds of Americans think the news stories they read, hear and watch are frequently inaccurate, according to a poll released Sunday by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press. That marks the highest level of skepticism recorded since 1985, when this study of public perceptions of the media was first done.

The survey found that 63 percent of the respondents thought the information they get from the media was often off base. In Pew Research's previous survey, in 2007, 53 percent of the people expressed that doubt about accuracy.

The findings indicate U.S. newspapers and broadcasters could be alienating the audiences they are struggling to keep as they try to survive financial turmoil. Pew Research didn't attempt to gauge how shrinking newspapers, reduced staffs and other cutbacks at news organizations are affecting people's perceptions, although the reductions probably haven't helped, said Michael Dimock, an associate director for the center.

I loved seeing these stats. Mainstream media is destructive.

I consider the mainstream media to be extremely destructive. It has ruined many lives. I am always glad to see their stats decline.
One method of "hitting" mainstream media is by letting their advertizers know that we despise that particular medium. Example: Complaining to some of the big advertizers in The Dallas Morning News (which refuses to print anything about 9/11 Truth) that TheDallas Morning News is a piece of junk news.
Ha!...of course, the CIA also advertizes their banner recruiting ad on the Dallas Morning News, seeking recruits for clandestine operations.

Get...

Out.

Do these people deserve to know how and why their loved ones were murdered? Do we deserve to know how and why 9/11 happened?

Love to see it

Operation Mockingbird has lost it's magic.........? I'm really glad to see this. We turned out TV's off along time ago. I write the local paper often and mention that all the msm has become is propaganda. The public has turned to the internet for real news, not the Glenn Beck clowns.

Is it just me ...

... or are the walls slowly crumbling to the ground?

Say what?!!

"The findings indicate U.S. newspapers and broadcasters could be alienating the audiences they are struggling to keep as they try to survive financial turmoil"

It isn't finances making them lose audiences. Who writes this stuff? Just a guess there but maybe they are alienating the audiences they are struggling to keep because the stories are inaccurate. Even the media poll got it wrong. Its disgraceful. I can only imagine what they must say about the US overseas. They must get a big laugh.

Peace all

"Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as 'internationalists' and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure -- one world, if you will. If that's the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it."
