BUILDING WHAT?! Day 2 (and Day 1 Recap)

Fellow Advocates:

Thank you to everyone who helped make Building What?! Day 1 a great success.

3 down. 48 to go.

Before repeating yesterday’s instructions, here’s a snippet from the emails we received from people who called in.
________________________________________

“The office of Maria Arroyo was very nice to me and seemed excited to hear from me!”

“In all 3 cases, they asked if this was in regards to WTC 7 before I had said anything.”

“Before the words 'Building 7' were out of my mouth they said, 'Yes, we know.'… The aide said they'd been receiving calls to look into this and will announce further action on his part, since this is the first they've heard about it.”

“I said something like, ‘I have been ignoring all this stuff until now because I just saw a video of 7 coming down and that just seems impossible to me.’ She then kind of laughed at me and said, ‘You only just learned about this? We have ALWAYS known about building 7.’ In short, I'm getting the feeling this was a GOOD IDEA."

“The aide took my name and number, already knew what I was calling about, and said [the office] would get back to all inquiries about what gets determined…Thanks for enabling us to make this a coordinated effort.”

So what did we learn? Well, for the most part, the staffers were happy to receive our phone calls, and in many cases they promised to respond to the inquiries once the council member has looked into it. The combination of phone calls and faxes is perfect because the phone calls are impossible to ignore, and the faxes give them something concrete to hold onto and share with the council members. Some people have asked why we don’t ask people to email – it’s because an email is easy to delete and therefore the impact is not felt.

Just like yesterday, there are two simple rules for participating in this campaign:

1) Talk only about World Trade Center Building 7

2) Be courteous and respectful

Just like yesterday, NYC CAN will inform the council members’ offices that anyone who is disrespectful, or who mentions other aspects of 9/11, is trying to sabotage the legitimate call for a proper investigation into the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7. And to ensure that opponents of truth do not undermine our effort, we will need each and every one of you to get involved and drown out their vitriolic voice with courtesy, clarity and honesty.

The Script

We have three points to make:

1) A third building called World Trade Center Building 7 also collapsed on September 11th. This building housed the Office of Emergency Management’s Emergency Operations Center.

2) The federal government issued a report saying that office fires caused this building to collapse, however, there is overwhelming physical and testimonial evidence that this building was brought down with the use of explosives.

3) In response, 1,100 architects and engineers have signed a petition calling for a new investigation because the federal government’s report is deeply flawed and unscientific.

Translated to a phone call:

• Hello, my name is _________. I would like to leave a message for Council Member ______ to ask that he/she take measures to investigate the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7. Who should I speak with?

You will either be transferred to someone else, or the receptionist will say, “you can speak with me”, or the receptionist will say, “Thank you, we will let the council member know”. If you are given time to elaborate on your message, you say:

• I would like to inform the council member that:
i. A third building called World Trade Center Building 7 also collapsed on September 11th. This building housed the Office of Emergency Management’s Emergency Operations Center.

ii. The federal government issued a report saying that office fires caused this building to collapse, however, there is overwhelming physical and testimonial evidence that this building was brought down with the use of explosives.

iii. In response, 1,100 architects and engineers have signed a petition calling for a new investigation because the federal government’s report is deeply flawed and unscientific.
• Be sure to thank the person you are speaking with.

Translated to a fax (feel free to copy/paste this exact text or to modify it):

March 16, 2010
Dear Council Member ___________,

I am writing to ask that you take measures to open an investigation into the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7.

World Trade Center Building 7 was the third building to collapse on September 11th when it came down at 5:20 in the afternoon. This building housed the Office of Emergency Management’s Emergency Operations Center.

An agency of the federal government called the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) issued a report in 2008 saying that office fires caused this building to collapse, however, there is overwhelming physical and testimonial evidence that this building was brought down with the use of explosives.

In response, 1,100 architects and engineers have signed a petition calling for a new investigation because the federal government’s report is deeply flawed and unscientific. To learn more, please go to the Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth website, AE911Truth.org.

You can watch footage of World Trade Center Building 7 collapse by googling "WTC 7".

Thank you very much for looking into this important matter.

Sincerely yours,

Ed Asner's radio spot for AE911Truth.org

He da man!

Ed Asner's Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth commercial was on KTLK 1150 AM this morning in Los Angeles!

Listen here:

http://www.ae911truth.org/audio/Ed_Asner30 sec_lowmusic.mp3

edit: I've been having some trouble since the site upgrade. I definitely can't preview and John just told me to hit save. I see the link is not clickable though. Oh well, got me, I used to know how to do this. Believe me, listen to this ... if you can. sorry for OT

re: Links

We are going to make web links automatically live, we just have to finish cleaning a few basic things up, like getting "preview" to work consistently for everyone (sorry about that!).

If you are having problems with the site, make sure to clear your cache and cookies and see if that helps.

Ed Asner is a great American, someone with real integrity. He's made a lot of radio spots for ae911truth.org and offered to make more for various other projects/events.

Thanks again for your collective patience, these upgrade hassles won't last forever.

Cheers!

thanks John

I guess i won't throw my computer out the window, yet.

Is this the ad?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmmHoa_CLW8

I want to say that 30 second TV ads are the next thing.
TV ads costing an average of $50-100 each is very doable.
There are some incredible values which can be obtained by TV ads. Depending upon the channel, the targeted demographic and locality, the "negotiations skills and working capital", and some other factors ...it is very realistic to get scores of TV ads costing an average of $50-100 each.
EXAMPLE: I got "Shark Week" on the Discovery Channel at 8pm time slot with 30 second ads costing $60 back around the year 2001 when promoting some local area stores.

An interesting sidenote on TV ADS: If it is shown on TV, it becomes "credible". This is even true with retail.

Is Ed Asner's Radio Ad available

for us to use? The next Chip-in campaign should be running this radio commercial in top markets.

I think that is it

What I got in an email today and tried to post above is an audio file. It is 28 sec also. I just noticed it says low music in the link. It sounds really good with the lower music. Asner's delivery alone is excellent.
