Day 6 - Letter from 9/11 Widow to Councilman Garodnick
Fellow Advocates:
Thank you to everyone who participated in the first week of the Building What?! campaign.
So far, we have contacted 15 of the 51 members of the New York City Council. When we are done with all 51 council members, there will be a big elephant in the room at City Hall. NYC CAN is in the process of meeting with individual council members, educating them in-depth and urging them not to let the elephant go ignored. Don’t expect immediate results, but do expect the seeds we are all are planting together to bloom as public opinion continues to shift in our favor.
On Thursday, 9/11 family member Jane Pollicino sent a powerful letter to one of Council Member Daniel Garodnick’s aides that surely found its way to the council member.

Mr. Pasquini,
I thank you for offering your email address and allowing me to follow up with the issue we discussed this morning. Specifically, I am referring to your asking Council Member Daniel Garodnick to take the necessary measures to investigate the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7. On September 11th, at 5:20 pm, this was the third building to come down and it was the location of the Office of Emergency Management’s Emergency Operations Center.
I am sure you are aware that in 2008 the National Institute of Standards and Technology reported the building’s collapse was due to the fire, however, there is overwhelming evidence from architects and engineers that casts tremendous doubt on these findings. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to visit the Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth website or simply take a look at the collapse by googling “WTC 7”.
From our conversation earlier today, it was obvious this is not a new subject and I agree with your comment this issue is a matter of federal oversight. However, this fact does not dismiss the City from getting “on board” with the many New Yorkers who have expressed a desire to get to the bottom of the cause of the collapse of WTC 7.
In addition, as a 9/11 widow I have found the number of unanswered questions surrounding 9/11 is still very overwhelming. So I need to let you know that if we could get to the bottom of just this one issue, WTC 7, it would mean a great deal.
I cannot speak for every family member who lost a loved one on 9/11 but I speak for myself when I say that I would rather have answers to questions, as opposed to not having the questions asked at all. If officials feel that they are being mindful of the pain that they might cause the families with this type of investigation, they are mistaken. At this point, regarding any circumstance that surrounds the death of my husband, there is more hurt in “not knowing” and I would welcome any clarity that an investigation would bring. This is something our city and nation deserve and are entitled to so please ask the questions.
I appreciate the opportunity to give my voice and thank you for your attention in this matter. Feel free to be in touch.
Jane Pollicino

As always, there are two simple rules for participating in this campaign:
1) Talk only about World Trade Center Building 7
2) Be courteous and respectful
NYC CAN will inform the council members’ offices that anyone who is disrespectful, or who mentions other aspects of 9/11, is trying to sabotage the legitimate call for a proper investigation into the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7. And to ensure that opponents of truth do not undermine our effort, we will need each and every one of you to get involved and drown out their vitriolic voice with courtesy, clarity and honesty.
The Script
We have three points to make:
1) A third building called World Trade Center Building 7 also collapsed on September 11th. This building housed the Office of Emergency Management’s Emergency Operations Center.
2) The federal government issued a report saying that office fires caused this building to collapse, however, there is overwhelming physical and testimonial evidence that this building was brought down with the use of explosives.
3) In response, 1,100 architects and engineers have signed a petition calling for a new investigation because the federal government’s report is deeply flawed and unscientific.
Translated to a phone call:
• Hello, my name is _________. I would like to leave a message for Council Member ______ to ask that he/she take measures to investigate the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7. Who should I speak with?
You will either be transferred to someone else, or the receptionist will say, “you can speak with me”, or the receptionist will say, “Thank you, we will let the council member know”. If you are given time to elaborate on your message, you say:
• I would like to inform the council member that:
i. A third building called World Trade Center Building 7 also collapsed on September 11th. This building housed the Office of Emergency Management’s Emergency Operations Center.
ii. The federal government issued a report saying that office fires caused this building to collapse, however, there is overwhelming physical and testimonial evidence that this building was brought down with the use of explosives.
iii. In response, 1,100 architects and engineers have signed a petition calling for a new investigation because the federal government’s report is deeply flawed and unscientific.
• Be sure to thank the person you are speaking with.
Translated to a fax (feel free to copy/paste this exact text or to modify it):

Dear Council Member ___________,
I am writing to ask that you take measures to open an investigation into the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7.
World Trade Center Building 7 was the third building to collapse on September 11th when it came down at 5:20 in the afternoon. This building housed the Office of Emergency Management’s Emergency Operations Center.
An agency of the federal government called the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) issued a report in 2008 saying that office fires caused this building to collapse, however, there is overwhelming physical and testimonial evidence that this building was brought down with the use of explosives.
In response, 1,100 architects and engineers have signed a petition calling for a new investigation because the federal government’s report is deeply flawed and unscientific. To learn more, please go to the Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth website, AE911Truth.org.
You can watch footage of World Trade Center Building 7 collapse by googling "WTC 7".
Thank you very much for looking into this important matter.
Sincerely yours,
