Collateral Murder

5th April 2010 10:44 EST

WikiLeaks has released a classified US military video depicting the indiscriminate slaying of over a dozen people in the Iraqi suburb of New Baghdad -- including two Reuters news staff.

Reuters has been trying to obtain the video through the Freedom of Information Act, without success since the time of the attack. The video, shot from an Apache helicopter gun-site, clearly shows the unprovoked slaying of a wounded Reuters employee and his rescuers. Two young children involved in the rescue were also seriously wounded.

I'm ashamed

I'm ashamed and disgusted to be an American when I see shit like this. It's obvious why any real coverage of these "wars" is being censored.

Everybody who has a Youtube site or something similar needs to download this and re-post it. This needs to show up in a Google search in a thousand locations. Make that ten thousand.

I just tried to download it and the Youtube server is "busy." I'm sure NSA will try to jam any transmission. Be diligent.

God bless Wikileaks.

Well said.

I tried to embed the video on my Facebook page and for some reason it wouldn't post. I was only able to put up the link and cut and paste the summary of the video.

My heart goes out to the families of the victims of this massacre.

no shame

One of the overriding goals of the 'powers that be' is to make Americans feel ashamed... to demonize the united States of America in order to smooth the absorption into the global government.

You have no reason to feel ashamed. You are part of the solution. You are a good reason other Americans should feel proud.

I was horrified when I saw this video early this morning, not surprised, but horrified. 9-11 is still being used as a justification to slaughter people around the globe. 9-11 Truth Now.

With you in the struggle,

again, just another reason why we have to have change

Herblay FRANCE

again, just another reason why we have to change rapidly the functioning of our administrations. And have to close some of them ( CIA, NSA,IRIS ... ? ).
America despite all the evil that has been done your name, the good Americans can show the way to a better world.

Yours John

The guys in the helicopter

were TRAINED to shoot people. Once upon a time, they were little children playing in sandboxes. Same goes for the guys that trained them. Once upon a time, they were little children too.

We humans have a lot of spiritual evolving to do.

Maybe we will make it.

I hope so.

They seem to enjoy it

At one point after they are circling, you can hear them marvel at the bodies and get commended on their marksmanship. I am former military, and I know that there is a level of desnsitizing that happens in combat, but this is out of control. They are firing HUGE rounds from hundreds of yards away, and are doing it under ficticious reasoning. I failed to see ANY AK-47's in that film. This just makes me sick and sad for humans in the world that have to suffer through this.

Life in Iraq Under US Occupation: Dahlia Wasfi

Because it was not justified, the entire Iraq war

may be considered a war crime, and every death, a murder.

This is just ONE leaked video, but the war there's been going on for YEARS now... think about it. Grotesque!!!

Way to go Bush Cheney and Neocon cabal, may you be held to account somehow, sometime, in one form or another.

Hey Robert Rice,

Try to post something on HuffPost. You have a nice knack for wording things. As an experiment, I joined and made my first comment ever over there. I used your first line above and then added.. "The US govt. lied about WMD's in Iraq and covered up what really happened on Sept. 11, including its own ties to the hijackers. May Bush, Cheney and the entire Neocon cabal be held to account for what they've done."

It was accepted. ("joltwagon")

It isn't a just a "Neocon" cabal

It's the entire Congress - both parties - that backed and continue to back - by funding - these monstrous wars based on lies. AND it is the main stream media that repeats these lies - AND it is the populace that goes along with all this.

In any event, it seems to be something systemic in the human condition - that crosses all lines of race, nationality, religion, party affiliation - political ideologies etc.

The problem with blaming one group - is that the corollary seems to be that there is some other group that is blameless - and this simply is not the case.

I can't figure out why my own friends - none of whom are neocons - and all of whom are supposedly educated - go on their merry way denying what is beyond obvious.

I think the answer is fear.

Accidental double post

please remove if possible

but you're quite right

and this truth needs repeating ... over and over

It's capitalism. The more I

It's capitalism. The more I learn about history, the more I find that to be true.

I am lost for words.

Percent of civilian deaths:

WWI -- 14%
WWII -- 67%
1989-2005 -- 90%

Anyone who joins the military in the 21st century will become a participant in the mass killing of innocent civilians. The average US soldier makes Jeffrey Dahmer look like a humanitarian. This is not meant in jest. Soldiers may not eat their victims like Mr. Dahmer, but the body count of the US military makes your average serial killer look like a common criminal.

Baby killers? You betcha. This is not "war". This is mass butchery. The "soldiers" in the video have clearly been brainwashed to take delight in the practice of mass murder. They kill humans with the relish of a sadistic child burning ants with a magnifying glass. The new "video game" style of "war" is the height of cowardice. There isn't a trace of honor in the activities of these men.

Blaming soldiers for war is a little like blaming McDonald's employees for factory farming. Most of them come from poor backgrounds and are economically blackmailed into becoming killers. So long as there are large disparities in wealth there will be a steady stream of bodies to feed the maw of the military machine. Nevertheless, I think it's important we emphasize that the soldier's profession is a despicable one. Parents need to teach this to their children. These individuals do not deserve respect but repudiation. This has nothing to do with self-defense. The heroes are on the side of the resistance.

How's that for "shock and awe"

Everyone got the picture yet? It's a big LIE! IT's all a big LIE! Wars are ALWAYS about BANK$ and WEAPON manufacturers! The US makes the most weapons, sells the most weapons, uses the most weapons and is NOT TO BE TRUSTED! Which country in this world has the most Nukes? And you are afraid of Iran? Which country has used NUKES? Which countries are most likely to use nukes in the future? This video is a mere snapshot of an epic size destruction of a country, a people, a culture, a TRAGEDY. When we are not faking terrorists we are growing them.

French national newspaper LIberation takes about misconduct

Herblay FRANCE

bonjour , thanks for the post. Our national newspaper LIberation today, Monday the 6th of April, talks only about "bavure" = blunder, misconduct.

I think the title "Collateral Murder" more appropriate. See annex °1

And how many other video tapes like this one exists ?

Yours John

Update : I have just bought the newspaper and their is not a word in the physical paper on the video. Sorry for the citizens that buy Liberation( ~130 000 printed) because they are better informed by the web site of the same newspaper !

Also the National Danish State Radio

have aired the story.
Praise Wiki Leaks!

Your Tax Dollars at work

Disgusting and shamefull. These soldiers are brain washed. I know because I also was a brain washed soldier. Until the military industrial complex and the Israeli - Paelstinian issues are dealt with expect disgusting things like this to continue. Thank God I never took another's life, as I don't know how I could have dealt with that, but I AND EVERY OTHER TAX PAYING AMERICAN PAID FOR WHAT WE ALL SAW IN THAT VIDEO! So in a sense I am still participating and I resent it!

Anyone who thinks that makes us safer is delusional, it just creates more "enemies" for us but the Military Industrial Complex needs enemies doesn't it?

Who went to their beds last night without a great sadness

After viewing this video? I kept hearing John Lennons words about war and peace and love. And about how we all get to these ugly places. " a working class hero is something to soon as you're born they make you feel small, by giving you no time instaed of it all. ... till the pain is so big you feel nothing at alll. ... They hurt you at home and they hit you at school, they hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool.... till you're so fuckin crazy, you can't folllow their rules ... When they tortured you and scared you for twenty odd years, and then they expect you to pick a career... When you can't really function you're so full of fear! .. They keep you doped with religion and sex and tv ... And you think you're so clever and classless and free, but you're still fuckin peasants as far as I can see.
There's room at the top they are telling you still, but first you must LEARN HOW TO SMILE AS YOU KILL !!!!..if you want to be like the folks on the hill ". War isn't over !!
And I think we must go on laughing as we love!!!

wondering what others think about Wayne Madsen?

he has a disturbing take on Wikileaks. Tales of CIA, Mossad connections. The Soros gang, spying(china espc.), manipulating US elections, propaganda/disinfo and hacking of perceived enemies.

I have found Madsen to be above average in credibility in the past. His intelligence past has netted him some interesting sources. What say others?

may have picked up some disinfo that was fed to him preemptively.

Who knows. But this particular Wikileaks story looks solid as a rock.
