Environmentalist Osama Bin Laden Demands Green Economy
The internet is abuzz with rumors of a new terror attack to be launched by alleged 9/11 mastermind Osama Bin Laden and his latest unconfirmed audio warning that America must be punished for climate change and its economic practices.
Bin Laden concerned by climate, Pakistan floods: audiotape

The tape would be the first time Bin Laden has spoken publicly since March 25.
Bin Laden's whereabouts are unknown, but in August, the US commander in Afghanistan, General David Petraeus, said bin Laden is "far buried" in the remote mountains between Afghanistan and Pakistan and that capturing him remains a key task.
While the likelihood of another large-scale attack is high, it is not this fictional character who will be responsible for it, as Former Homeland Security secretary Tom Ridge admits that the government raises the terror threat level when politically necessary and also inserts Osama Bin Laden into the dialogue as a widely-perceived direct external threat:
Ridge backpedals on pressure to raise terror alert level
By Mimi Hall
His most explosive accusation: that Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and Attorney General
John Ashcroft pressed him to raise the national threat level after Osama bin Laden released a videotape criticizing President Bush shortly before Election Day 2004. Ridge writes he rejected raising the level because bin Laden had released nearly 20 such tapes since 9/11 and the latest contained nothing suggesting an imminent threat.
Why Bin Laden Still Matters
Al Qaeda never had more than a few hundred sworn members. The real danger was its ability to train and inspire jihadis around the world.

While the tape was proof that Al Qaeda’s leader was still alive, it also raised the question of whether he’s now only an irrelevant militant seeking to associate himself with even failed attacks originated by groups he doesn’t control.
U.S. Believes Bin Laden Involved in Europe Plot

Counterterrorism Officials Think Al Qaeda Leader Has Role in Latest Multi-Pronged Terror Threat
Nevertheless, the dramatically trumpeted foiled plot in Europe may be in part a political ploy to raise support for more unmanned drone strikes in Pakistan.
Official: Terror plot included possible attacks in 5 European countries
September 29, 2010|From Nic Robertson and Paul Cruickshank, CNN
Investigators believe al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden signed off on a European attack plan, a separate law enforcement source said. But U.S. and international officials say they have seen no sign of an imminent attack.
This is not the first time that the media has decided to run with this criminal hoax of combining 9/11 and Global Warming Lies together in the meme of Osama Bin Laden. Here are reports when OBL first began inserted his Green Agenda into his rhetoric, and also one of the first instances when he stopped putting out videotapes and instead, only issuing audiotapes:
Bin Laden: Global warming is US' fault
By CLEMENTE LISI
January 29, 2010
Osama bin Laden has raised the terror warning level to green.
The al Qaeda leader has mentioned global warming in the past, but this new recording is the first dedicated to the topic -- a change from his usual hate-filled diatribes that take aim at destroying the US and Israel.
"We should stop dealings with the dollar and get rid of it as soon as possible," bin Laden said. "I know that this has great consequences and grave ramifications, but it is the only means to liberate humanity from slavery and dependence on America."
Bin Laden also blamed the US for failing to sign the Kyoto Protocol, which sought to curb greenhouse gas emissions, and praised liberal political activist Noam Chomsky, according to Al Jazeera.
“Noam Chomsky was correct when he compared US policies to those of the Mafia,” he said. "They are the true terrorists."
Bin Laden Bashes U.S. on Climate Change
January 29, 2010
Osama bin Laden's latest reason to condemn the United States has to do with climate change.
The al Qaeda leader in a new audio message published by al Jazeera, bin Laden verbally attacks the U.S. and other industrialized nations for polluting the planet.

Danger of attack still 'very real' says foreign secretary after tape claims responsibility for Detroit plane bomb attempt

An Israeli foreign ministry spokesman, Andy David, dismissed Bin Laden's attempt to link Israel with attacks on the US. "This is nothing new; he has said this before. Terrorists always look for absurd excuses for their despicable deeds," he said.
The last public message from Bin Laden appears to have been on 26 September, when he demanded that European countries pull their troops out of Afghanistan. That audio tape also warned of "retaliation" against countries allied with the US in the war.
Richard Clarke, a former chief White House counter-terrorism adviser, told the paper: "They (al-Qaida) have trained women. There are others who are still out there who have been trained and who are clean skins – that means people who we do not have a record of, people who may not look like al-Qaida terrorists, who may not be Arabs and may not be men."
Here are some reactions from the blogosphere concerning OBL's Green theme:
Osama Bin Laden Blames the U.S. for Climate Change

He goes on to call for the world to boycott American goods, saying that the way to end climate change is to bring “the wheels of the American economy” to a halt.
Bin Laden Deep Underground But Terror Network Expanding, Says Obama
September 11, 2010
Last June, CIA Director Leon Panetta told ABC News that Bin Laden’s Al Qaeda presence in Afghanistan was now “relatively small…I think at most we’re looking at maybe 50 to 100.” The FBI has determined that at the time of the 9/11 attacks, the original membership of the Al Qaeda was 200 sworn members.

I know, I'm having a hard time believing it too.
